Don't wait a Lifetime!
I'm 68 and Ive dreamt of doing a Leith's Cookery Course since I was in my 20s... life got in the way .
So when I spotted Leith's Online I knew this was for me!.. It has been a wonderful experience, really clear videos showing you everything you need to know, no time pressures and your tutor on hand to answer any queries. I can totally recommend this online course.

This course was excellent. I signed up to become a better cook for my family, and it's definitely achieved that. I have much more confidence in the kitchen now, and I've well and truly caught the bug, so I'll be enrolling on the next course in the series!

The course materials were well put together, easy to follow, and the feedback from the tutor was really helpful throughout.

One tip I'd give anyone starting the course is not to underestimate the importance of mise en place. Get everything prepared before you start cooking, as some of the dishes come together very quickly. I'm a bit slapdash by nature and learned that lesson the hard way—but it was a valuable one, and it's already made me a much more organised cook.

If you're on the fence about doing it, just go for it. You won't regret it.

Enjoyable digital course with a good selection of recipes that should suit everyone.
Instructions are clear & videos great to follow. Teachers give constructive feedback and willingly answer questions. The App is a little slow to upload photos of completed work.

This course has changed my life. I’ve always wanted to cook better, but I’ve been making the same meals night after night.
Having now completed the Absolute Beginners course, I have made an exotic stir-fry, a perfect roast chicken and delicious steaks…. And I find myself in the supermarket looking at gooseberries and suddenly deciding to attempt to make a gooseberry fool. I am stepping outside my comfort zone…
I was on the same course as Mr Akintonwa (previous review) and I can echo his praise of our mentor Angela. She was incredibly encouraging and kind as I stumbled through the first sessions, and she has helped me find my confidence in the kitchen. She even helped me find a new fridge to fit the constricted space in my kitchen. It arrived yesterday. My whole attitude to cooking has changed. I feel I can have a go at anything now.

Although I have cooked for years Leith's Absolute Beginners Course has been an amazing journey of discovery. Not only in the execution of some great new culinary skills but it’s also developed my appreciation of many types of cuisine. Moroccan cooking, Indian curries, Pad Thai and Mexican chilli con carne to the less exotic mac and cheese, scrambled eggs and soup. In a short time I have learnt so much. Sweating onions in a cartouche, making a roux, chiffonade slicing herbs, deglazing pans, cooking steaks from blue to well-done and the ultimate guide to carving a chicken properly. Baking was absolutely a new experience for me. And to learn how simple and quick it can be was a revelation. Now I can make flatbreads, cookies, crumble and cobblers.
But probably the biggest highlight was the tutor Angela. Her incredible knowledge was second only to her helpfulness and encouragement. Even when you knew you’d messed up she would always bring out a positive comment to make you keep going. And her answers to my effusive questions - especially with the steaks - was something I looked forward to each week. I say it again - I have learnt so much. My only negative was all that sugar in the desserts which is something I normally avoid. If all the Leith courses are like this I may well end up doing another one soon. But now I have built up such a catalogue of great new recipes and techniques that first I need to keep practising.

Instructions were really easy to follow. Definitely helped me improve with my cooking and time management skills.

It was a great experience i learned how to cook new cuisine ...intructions were pretty easy to follow certainly would recommend this course for all beginners in the kitchen

My daughter took part in the Duke of Edinburgh course and absolutely loved it. The recipes were perfect to challenge, but not to overwhelm, fantastic feedback each week and all recipes were delicious. We are now missing our weekend treat of trying new things. I highly recommend for any budding young chefs. I'd love to see more coursed aimed at this age group. Thank you Leiths.

The actual recipes were very good but i found the layout of the videos and ingredients quite confusing and a bit stressful when you need to follow along and also have food cooking

It’s the best cooking course I have ever come across and worth every penny!! Just can’t recommend enough! The teachers are incredible, the menus and flavours are perfect and the video quality excellent! I have done 3 of their courses and planning to do every single one!! You won’t regret it, you will learn everything you need to know!

Some of the recipes can be simplified so they are more enjoyable to the age groups of bronze Duke of Edinburgh. Other than that, delicious food, spot on advice on skills and food safety and overall a great experience

I have just completed the Leiths online Nutrition in culinary practice course. The course has given me skills in areas of cooking that I have never previously explored, as well as the confidence to play around with ingredients within recipes. The theory contained with in the course ( around 50% of the modules) was interesting and well presented. The course was easy to follow with an online practical assessment at the end. My two mentors, one from Leiths and one from Pure Package were helpful, gave good feedback and answered all of the questions I had. For someone who works full time with a family still living at home, the course fitted in well to my week as I could complete the modules when time allowed. I enjoyed the course so much I have already signed up for another and am still deciding on the trip to Leiths for the conversion to accreditation ( it’s purely a logistics thing!). If you are looking to expand your knowledge and repertoire plus some self improvement but you are restricted by life commitments then I would recommend the Leiths online courses.
