negative customer expereince

I've been with Level Health for 1 year and my experience has been a negative one on three fronts.

1. When I signed up with them originally I was quoted a certain figure for Plan B everyday with an excess of 300. However I was overcharged by a small amount each month for the entire year. It took numerous follow ups before they refunded me for this 'system error' in the form of a One4All voucher.
2. When I renewed my policy this year, there was a price hike of €26. An agent explained that if I was willing to increase my excess to 500 my monthly fee would remain the same as last year. However, the first month of my renewed policy had an overcharge of €19. When I called Level Health, I discovered that the agent who quoted me the renewal figure had 'missed something on the system'.
3. The final straw - I was charged on the double this month which again I was told was a system error. I could easily have missed this had I not been monitoring those payments given my experience with Level Health.

Unfortunately, there have been one too many system glitches with them which resulted in two separate episodes of overcharging and also an inaccurate figure being provided for my renewal quote. I have cancelled my policy and will not be taking out cover again with Level Health

Dreadful customer service

 In my opinion, Level Health’s customer service continues to be the worst I have ever experienced.
In addition, I am waiting months for my claim to be paid, but I get nothing other than false promises and phony excuses. 
Their complaints department is not fit for purpose.
In all honesty, I could not recommend anyone to deal with this company.

Avoid, avoid, avoid.

Misleading understanding of outpatient excess

Be very careful with how the outpatient excess works. Although consultant visits are described as “€50 per visit subject to an outpatient excess”, in practice consultant benefits are first applied to reduce the outpatient excess. No cash payments are made until the excess is fully offset, regardless of how much you spend on a single visit.
In my case, a €250 consultant visit resulted in no payment. Under this structure, a member would need to submit multiple consultant receipts of similar value before getting €50 (e.g. 3 €250 visits to get €25 back, and a 4th €250 visit to actually get €50!!)
This is not how excesses are normally understood and the lack of transparency in how this is explained on their own website is very poor and, in my view, misleading. Worth clarifying fully before purchasing.
I also found it difficult to get clarification, with phone calls going unanswered and email responses taking several days.
I would not recommend or go with Level Health again

I have called 6 times since the 1st…

I have called 6 times since the 1st December and they still haven’t resolved my issue with the online account which means I can’t claim for receipts. They keep saying they have escalated it to the highest priority and every time I call it’s like starting again. Said they would call me back and each time they don’t. So frustrating and still no sign of them resolving the issue.

Too many teething problems as a company

Honestly as somebody who worked in health insurance for a number of years you are losing customers and creating a horrible customer experience by not doing simple things like appropriate email templates, acknowledging mistakes, showing empathy, checking back in with the customer and presumably you have nothing in place to pause an email to ensure that the task is completed. With all that said, please just provide me with my Confirmation of Cover Letter. You need to focus on customer service training to improve retention, at the end of the day most customers will pay extra rather than deal with incompetent employees,

Quick Clinic doesn’t work -total disaster

Have been a customer for a year and just renewed. Can’taccessthe Quick Clinic menu on the app - have reported this 5 times in last 4 weeks - get the same response - “we have passed your issue to IT “.Absolutely no feedback or willingness to sort - cannot access a Senior Manager to talk to about this issue - it’s beyond a joke and it’s a service I am paying for in my premium . I was sick in December and needed it - but didn’t work and still not working . Nobody bothered to sort it or be upfront and admit it doesn’t work .

Moving to Level Health was a great move so I have renewed for 2026

I have renewed for 2026 with Level Health keeping Plan B Everyday 300
. I had been insured with another company for 25 years. I have however found the value fantastic and am so glad I got the everyday package. Their claims system is realy efficient and if you call them they answer promptly and are helpful . I would highly recommend people consider joining Level Health . The travel insirance is also a great benefit.

They have been very easy to get hold of…

They have been very easy to get hold of and even rang me straight back after the call dropped. So from the start I felt reassured. I then ended up in the Beacon a&e, they state on my plan they cover €250 of the cost of private urgent care, so as soon as I paid the €250 at the desk I went straight into the click and claim on my app. It was refunded immediately, no waiting around. So far I'm very happy with them and have had no issues. I'm on Plan C and been with my them since October 2025

Great experience using the GP Video consultation

I’ve used the video consultation service twice now, and on both occasions I received a call back from a GP in under a minute — the speed is incredible. When I was with Irish Life, you had to book a specific time and date, and it was rare to get an appointment in less than two days. I also love that the prescription is emailed directly to your pharmacy, which is so convenient. On one occasion, the prescribed medication wasn’t available at the pharmacy, and I was able to speak to the GP again straight away. He kindly spoke to the pharmacist directly and suggested an alternative — something you’d never get with a traditional GP visit. Overall, it’s a fantastic service when you need it most.

I recently switched to Level Heath from my previous healthcare provider because the price difference was fantastic. So far, the experience has been excellent. The agent who helped me set up my policy made the whole process quick and seamless. Definitely a 5/5 -I’ve already recommended Level Heath to all my friends and family

Very Frustrated

I was attracted to join Level Health because of their pricing at start-up. While I had no major issues during the year, their administration and app left a lot to be desired. When I had to change direct debit details, and despite giving the correct bank details, they were unable to set up a new direct debit for over a month and in the meantime I got automated warnings about non-payment every sunday morning. Very frustrating, and required at least seven calls to agents.
As the cost of the same policy for my wife and I will increase by over 15% from next year, and they have introduced additional charges for orthopaedic procedures, I have found a better value policy elsewhere. So I notified them of cancellation from the end of the year and asked for a letter of confirmation of cover, as required by my new insurer. I was told this was sent by email but I never received it. I called and asked them to email again but the agent said access to my file was no longer available to them as my policy is going to be cancelled from end year. Also my access to the member area and the App has been discontinued even though I am still a member until late December! I am now awaiting to be re-admitted to the App and member area and still waiting on a letter of cover confirmation
I really have no idea what is going on, but there are some major administrative and IT problems. While I want to be positive and was encouraged to see a new competitor in the market, I am left very frustrated.

Avoid at all costs

Consistently poor customer service and undertrained agents who couldn’t even calculate my LCR correctly. Despite an email from Level Health promising a 10% renewal discount and a gift, I spent four weeks trying—and failing—to have the discount and accurate LCR applied. When I finally cancelled my renewal, they immediately closed my account, blocking claims and GP access even though my policy was still active. An entirely frustrating and unprofessional experience.

Beware of these people.

They have a most unusual interpretation of excess, designed to get out of paying claims. They say they have an outpatient excess of €125, which to me, and the HIA, means I am liable for the first €125 of a claim, but they calculate this €125 at €20 per visit, which means one could pay well over €1000 before any refund. Even their own rep couldn`t explain the logic of it in a sensible way, she was just reading from a script. I rang the HIA, and they couldn`t understand it either. I wont be going back to them.

Customer Service poor but....

Customer Service is second to none i.e. Dire.
Contacted them 3 times & promised a call back on a simple Claim that was approved but is taking 4 weeks for actual payment.
Early on their Claims applet was not working correctly so had to upload claims manually.
In addition. It's nearly impossible to find a copy of one's policy on one's Portal.

On the plus side;

a) their Plans are easy to understand.
b) their Digital Doctor (video call) is very good & easy to use.

It should also bé noted that no one from zLevel Health reached out to me as mentioned below.

I was in the Mater Private this week

I was in the Mater Private this week, and the Bons Secours and when I was giving them my cover details, neither had heard of Level Health. Of course, they looked it up when I was there and then accepted my details. Why would the main hospitals that check people in have never heard of you by now? I'm slightly worried about having switched from VHI after 40 years

Took payment 5 times in one day

I have had nothing but issues with this company. Seriously incompetent. Cancelled my policy due to their error as the app confirmed payment details were updated correctly months ago but apparently they werent. After missed payments due to their error, I took the apology at face value and believed I rectified the issue with the customer service team. I agreed to pay the "missed" payments over 3 months ontop of my policy when it was reinstated again, cancelled because of their error and "technical issues". Fast forward about 8 weeks, they processed a payment to come out 5 times from my account on the one day on the 1st of October. What was more confusing, they only sent three receipts. I am yet to receive a call from management to see what happened as all I was told again was it was a technical issues. By the sounds of it, they process payments and if you dont spot it they fraudulently keep the money and dont notify you (which is theft). Absolutely avoid at all costs. It is the worst company I have ever dealt with. The app isnt fit for purpose and caused me more stress and time than the policy was actually worth!

Absolutely useless - Avoid

Absolutely useless. Worst thing I ever did was change from Irish Life health. Paying €102 a month for a service that does not function as advertised. The app does not work in any capacity. Cannot upload receipts via app portal. When you do finally manage to do this through the desktop, receipts are returned or queried and then take months to be fulfilled.

The video doc does not work. Doctor cannot see or what me and vice versa. Tried 4 times to connect. When I was with Irish life they did phone consultation or video ones. A simple phone call and all sorted. This is incredibly frustrating.

Customer service also useless and of no help whatsoever.

Extremely disappointed. Will be changing as soon as I can.

Avoid like the plague.
Their extra benefit - Alianz travel insurance - refused to pay for cancelled plane tickets, they came up with different reasons daily. Their only aim was to get out of the contract somehow, I wonder if someone tries to claim a bigger amount - hospital cover, etc. Their slogan could be "We leave you in trouble no matter where you are".
When I asked Level about about possible cover for hospitalisation abroad, they stated that treatments have to be coordinated with them. Thankfully the doctors did not treat me based on isnurance agents recommendations.

Just replying here after the corporate BS comment Level made here. It is a very unrealistic scenario when someone is having emergency procedures, God forbid life saving ones, and they are coordinating (or the doctors) with an insurance agent. The medical procedures and best practice should be decided by medical professionals on the spot to save lives and avoid long term complications, the insurance company should pay the bill within the pre-agreed amounts. Period.

The other thing - I am in contract with Level health, no Allianz. I could not care less if the responsibility is with you or Allianz, it is your duty to select and then control your third party providers to satisfy your customers.

New as of 07/08/2025 - Level Health denied my cancellation request. Both the Policy document and the Health Insurance Authority clearly states the steps of cancellation, it is also not up to the consideration of an agent if they fulfil my cancellation request or not. I will just simply cease the payments.

Great service Level Health

I took out a policy with Level Health back in April. Found the whole experience easy and straight forward, the agent I spoke to was able to explain my benefits to me without issue and the price was significantly cheaper than my existing laya policy. I used the day to day benefit earlier this week and have already been refunded the amount requested. Great service
