Forcing the customer to purchase insurance at their counter, despite the fact that I had already taken out a globally recognized car rental insurance, is simply dishonest. Without signing the contract, I couldn’t have received the car keys. Your company is truly dishonest — even in the way you respond to comments.At the reception desk, the staff were condescending and resorted to blackmail tactics

This is rent a wreck and not rent a low cost car
Picking up the car took an hour and a half to two hours through Top Rent a Car. We were then given a very old car covered in damage. Dents, a fog light completely blown out from a collision, a windshield wiper that flew off at some point, etc. The interior was in disrepair. Cigarette burns were visible in the upholstery, even though smoking is prohibited in the car. The steering wheel looked like it had been chewed up. In short, a very old car that needs to be taken off the road immediately.
This has nothing to do with a low-cost car, but with renting a wreck.

The size of the car was perfect and the…
The size of the car was perfect and the price couldn’t be matched by another company in the time that I looked. The location is quite far from the airport terminal actually and the electric van runs about every 25-30 mins. This added extra time to our travels in getting away from Sofia. The car check-in process seemed unnecessarily longer than it should be, about 20-25 mins long, lots of over explanations. The return process, on the contrary was very quick and thorough. The car itself was old, 8 years old Renault, with over 200,000KM! This is a lot for a rental car, I’ve never seen that before. It drove fine, but the suspension and brakes were basically kaput, especially going downhill from the mountains near Vratsa. I was able to keep the car clean, by hand detailing every other day because otherwise to I was to be charge a separate fee for car washing, which is ludicrous and unheard of in the industry. I may come back to TOP rentals if the prices of the other companies at the Airport stay Sky-high. Thank you!

As an alternative, we can also deliver vehicles directly to the airport terminal for an additional fee — taking the car from our head office allows us to offer lower prices.
All our agents follow the same procedure and explain the rental terms thoroughly to ensure every rental is fair and transparent. We would like to emphasize that while some of our vehicles have higher mileage, each one undergoes a full inspection after every rental and before the next to guarantee it is in good condition. Customers can also view our offers online or call us directly to choose from newer models best suited to their travel needs.
Regarding the car wash – this fee is entirely optional and designed for our customers’ convenience. As is standard worldwide, vehicles must be returned in the same condition as received; by opting for this service you can return the car without cleaning it, or if you prefer not to use it no fee applies and the car should be returned clean.

Great straight forward rental
Great straight forward rental. Our VW passat we got was perfect for our two weeks road trip through Bulgaria and took us from Sofia to the coast and back without problems. Returning the car was done in no time and we got shuttled back to our Terminal.

Това е втори проблем с фирмата в рамките на 3 месеца, първия път изцапан куфар в багажника, отговора беше че е по моя вина и втория път 5 % обещана отстъпка която не получих! Имат и два телефона за връзка с централа, на единия ви таксуват скъпо, на другия не, аз разбрах за това след като видях, че са ми начислили 10 лева!

I rented a car for a week in July '25. I had my own excess insurance. The agent was very pushy trying to sell their excess insurance when I picked up car. I told him I didn't need it. I had a very bad feeling at this stage. I even commented to my wife that this is not going to end well. So I was not surprised when I returned the car to be told that I had damaged it and I had to pay 220e. They claimed I caused a 2cm scuff to the rear bumper. I had taken numerous photos when picking up the car but the damage was so low down my pictures did not cover that part of the car. I asked for evidence that it was not damaged before I rented, the agent showed a photo but when I asked to see when the photo was taken I discovered it was taken 6 months earlier!! Any way there was nothing I could do as they had a 400e charge on my credit card. My advice is do not rent from these people. They will rip you off. They also trade as Top Rent a Car. Avoid at all costs if you do not want to be scammed.

Please note that our staff are required to clearly explain all contract conditions and available protection options at the time of pick-up. This is part of our standard process and should not be interpreted as a sales tactic. In your case, you chose to rely on your own external excess insurance, and we fully respected that decision.
Upon return of the vehicle, a damage was identified which was not present in the photos you yourself provided from the start of the rental. According to the rental terms, and without additional protection, responsibility for such damage remains with the customer, which is why the charge was applied.
Before finalizing the documentation, the damage was shown and described, and your signature on the report confirms your acknowledgment. This document is also necessary for you to submit a claim to your insurance provider.
We fully understand your frustration, but we can confirm that all procedures were followed transparently, without any pressure or misconduct.

Nice little car
Nice little car, pick up and drop off went without a hitch only disappointment was we paid for the deal through Apodo who told us that insurance was included but on arriving to pick up the car we were told by a Low-cost employee it was inadequate, incuring an extra cost of 175 euros for 2 drivers, for 2 weeks - not so low cost car rental. So who was in the wrong ????

When a booking is made through a third-party platform, it’s possible that additional protection is offered by them directly — not by the rental provider. In such cases, we are not notified about the details or coverage level of that third-party policy.
At pick-up, we inform all customers that if no protection is selected directly with us, they are liable for any damage or incidents during the rental. In case something happens, we issue all necessary documentation so the customer can submit a claim to the third-party provider for reimbursement.
We understand how this may feel confusing, but we’re always transparent at pick-up and give each customer the opportunity to decide whether to rely on external coverage

While the service and overall organization seem decent at first glance, there's a very unpleasant issue that completely ruined my experience. This is the second time I've encountered a problem with the insurance. When booking the car, I paid for full insurance through the booking platform. However, upon picking up the car, I was told that this insurance is not accepted. Instead, I was pressured into purchasing their in-house insurance, with strong suggestions that without it, I’d be fully liable and risk serious charges.
This feels like a deliberate tactic to push unnecessary add-ons and is extremely disappointing. It undermines trust and makes me think twice about using this company again. I truly hope they reconsider how they handle such situations.

When a customer books through a third-party platform, it’s common that the platform offers its own additional coverage. However, this coverage is not connected to us, and we are not informed of its terms or conditions. As a result, if any incident occurs during the rental, the customer would be held liable under our agreement, and we provide the necessary documentation so a claim can be submitted to the third party.
At pick-up, we always inform customers about the available protection options. Choosing to add coverage with us is entirely optional and entirely the customer’s decision. No one is pressured or forced into it — we simply explain the consequences of declining in-house protection so customers can make an informed choice based on their risk tolerance.
