Our letting agency used this company to…
Our letting agency used this company to carry out both our move-in and move-out inspections, and it quickly became clear why — this company appears to operate as a subsidiary or closely linked business to the agency itself. That alone should raise serious red flags for any tenant.
The move-in inspection was poorly thorough, with existing issues either missed entirely or barely noted. Then at move-out, we were handed a list of charges that were completely unjustified, conveniently backed up by an inspection report produced by a company with a clear financial interest in the outcome.
This is not an independent inspection service. When the company carrying out your inspection has a direct connection to the agency charging you, there is an obvious and serious conflict of interest. Tenants deserve impartial assessments — not reports that appear designed to protect the agency's profits at the tenant's expense.
We would strongly urge anyone in a similar situation to challenge any charges through the tenancy deposit scheme, raise a formal complaint with the letting agency, and report the relationship between the two companies to Trading Standards or the Property Ombudsman if you believe it has been used unfairly against you.
Do not trust inspections arranged solely by your letting agency without questioning who is actually carrying them out and whether they are truly independent.
