My first time at LTL was back in 2016 as a complete beginner and now I returned for 10 weeks to improve on my HSK5. The teachers & staff continue to be great and I think that for complete beginners they got your back (good programs/books/teachers), for more advanced students the better you know and can articulate your weaknesses the better, as it can take some time for the teacher to identify your areas of improvement. Plus, if you help around changing the office’s water bottles you also get a certificate for that too — AI can translate but it cant change water bottles yet :)

I had the pleasure to learn Vietnamese with Linh at LTL in Hanoi. Linh is a great personality and adjusted quickly to my learning goals, which were mostly practice of listening and speaking. Throughout the course we covered countless different topics and I left with a vocabulary list of almost 1000 new words and phrases, often connected to very specific topics. As was mentioned in Reviews before, I also really enjoyed how Linh understands to weave different aspects of Vietnamese culture into the conversațions. It made me eager to learn more and read more about Vietnamese culture.
I consider myself a very nerdy and structural Language learner. Something my former teachers were not really helpful with was the "breaking up" of words and their meanings. I was always told to just learn the words and take them for granted. Linh, however, without that I asked for it, used the meanings of individual syllables to map and connect whole word fields for me. This was something I longed for since I started learning Vietnamese and I really enjoyed how she helped me draw the different connections between words. I really enjoyed my time and think I made a very clear progress.

I did a six week course with a two hour 1 on 1 lesson a day. My teacher Summer was great, she was very patient with me andweres all my questions and I feel like I learned a lot through our classes. Everyone at LTL was very friendly and helpful, they planned a lot of events where we could meet other students and locals and practice speaking. Beihai is a really great city to study in as it's not too big so really easy to get around and there's a lot of great places nearby to visit on the weekends. I thoroughly enjoyed the course and would definitely recommend LTL.

I spent three weeks at LTL in Beijing and the experience was excellent! Everyone at LTL Beijing is very welcoming and accommodating and my teacher Lilia was so engaging and very skilled at teaching us absolute beginners. I’m already planning to do another course with LTL in the future.

I had a great experience learning Vietnamese with Linh in Hanoi. She is a very attentive teacher who listens carefully and adapts each lesson to your individual needs. The lessons were always interactive and never felt one-sided. I also appreciated how she shared insights into Vietnamese culture alongside the language. I would highly recommend her.

I had a wonderful experience during my two-week language course in Hanoi with my two teachers, chị Hien and em Linh!
The course was incredibly enriching. Both teachers were extremely friendly, dedicated, and always helpful. They created a pleasant learning environment where I always felt comfortable and well supported, and they also addressed my individual learning needs. In my 1:1 course with em Linh, we not only practiced reading but also talked about Vietnamese culture in depth, which I found particularly enriching. I also received additional learning materials, for which I am very grateful 💗
I gained so much from the vietnamese course, both academically and personally, and I am very grateful to both of them for this wonderful experience!

Lulu asked what I was expecting or hoping to achieve in my time in Kunming. To be honest I'm not sure what I hoped for.
I knew I was going to struggle with being alone in China. So, I needed help with the basics, both practically and in language.
Lulu shared the sites of Kunming as a backdrop to help me cope with the rest of my stay. We didn't have structured lessons as I had time in the morning to do that. We shared the joy of Kunming, even on a wet day at the museum!
Lulu is an excellent teacher. She is perceptive to the needs of her students and is flexible in her approach.
I have gained a friend in Kunming and I look forward to seeing her again on a future trip to Yunnan.

I spent two weeks at LTL Beijing as part of a six-week trip through China, and it was honestly one of the highlights of my entire journey. In just a short time, I met so many amazing people who quickly became friends.
The staff were incredibly welcoming from day one, which immediately made me feel at ease. My teacher Lilia deserves a special mention. She was both warm and attentive, always mindful of how I was progressing, yet still managed to pack in a impressive amount of vocabulary and grammar. I left every class feeling like I’d genuinely learned something.
Beyond the lessons, LTL offered a great variety of activities that brought closer the chinese culture and history.
Summing up my experience at LTL, I have to give 5 stars and I’m already thinking about coming back to take my Mandarin further. I would recommend LTL to anyone looking to learn Chinese in an engaging and friendly environment!

I did online classes through LTL. They were great, they were super understanding of me wanting to re-assign instructors and Penny Peng was a great instructor for HSK and HSKK prep. Super energetic and very responsive

I attended a 2 week Mandarin course in Běijīng and had an extremely wonderful, educational, and memorable time. The program and communication were already perfectly organized before classes even began.

I couldn’t have imagined a better or more friendly teacher for the course than Lilia. Her teaching was of the highest quality, conveying not only linguistic knowledge but also cultural customs and interesting historical facts. At the same time, she made sure to involve every student and ensured that each individual was supported according to their needs.

I am committed to continuing to develop my Mandarin in the future, and if I ever have the opportunity to attend a language course in China again, I will certainly go to LTL Language School!

I attended the summer camps two summers in a row. First in Beijing for three weeks in 2024 and then in Tokyo for two weeks in 2025.

In Beijing the school was great, but the home stay we stayed at was very far more then an hour train ride every morning and afternoon. The host family also left a week into the three weeks leaving us with their elderly grandpa who didn’t speak any English. So we had to pay for our own dinners.

However compared to Beijing, Tokyo was a mess. First off our bedroom we stayed at was shared between me and my friend 16 and two other girls 12 & 14. We also were in the same appartement as two 16 years old boys in spite of the fact they told us before hand that we would be gender separated. The boys room had no AC so all the doors had to be left open leaving the 6 of us with pretty much no privacy. The bathroom in the room also had no door so the only door was to the toilet and shower. Then mid way through the trip we had to switch rooms last minute with no notice leading us to miss class. The classes were also a mess they were very big with around 7-15 people even though their website says the classes will be small. The teachers were also different every day we rarely had the same teacher twice leading to inconsistencies in our learning the classrooms were also changing every couple days. The activity’s after class were also not very well organized and they had. We were also told before hand that we would get a bus pass with a couple 100$ worth on it but we got a card with about 20$ and had to pay out of pocket for most transit. The organizers Eli Zhang and Sabatino were also irresponsible and were bad at answering questions we had or picking up the phone when needed including the morning we were told to switch rooms with no info.

Overall I definitely do not recommend the Tokyo summer camp. The Beijing one was okay but keep in mind your homestay might not be great.

I spent two weeks studying Chinese in Beihai, China. Both the organiser of the school and my teacher made me feel very welcome. I had one-to-one sessions. I learned a lot; my teacher was very patient and corrected my mispronunciations repeatedly. Apart from study time, the organiser of the school repeatedly offered fun events, which helped me meet more students and local people. The school's location is very convenient. The main station is within walking distance and there is a nice beach nearby. My host (in Beihai, accommodation is solely private) introduced me to new and delicious food every day. She also made me feel very welcome, even though I was there during Chinese New Year, which meant she had to make extra effort to take me to her hometown and introduce me to her family.

I was staying for 4 weeks at LTL Tokyo and really had a great time. Studying was fun. I had great teachers and Elli was organizing amazing side events to soak in Japanese culture. Definitely recommend!

I spent four weeks studying Mandarin at LTL Beijing, and it was honestly one of the most memorable experiences of my life.

From the start, the school felt welcoming and supportive. My teacher, Sara, was exceptional — patient, encouraging, and genuinely invested in my progress. She pushed me to improve while making every lesson enjoyable, and I could feel my confidence in speaking grow week by week.

What made the experience even more special were the school activities. Chinese-style karaoke nights, hotpot dinners, cultural tours, and group sightseeing created such a strong sense of community. I met so many wonderful people through these activities. The school also helped organise a day trip to the Great Wall — visiting in winter while snow was falling was absolutely magical and something I’ll never forget.

Choosing the homestay option was the best decision I could have made. My host family welcomed me so warmly and made me feel at home. They were always introducing me to new foods and recommending places to explore in the afternoons. They also spoke Chinese with me whenever possible, which helped me adjust to the sounds and rhythm of the language much faster. Being immersed in Chinese language outside of class made a huge difference in my progress.

If you are serious about learning Mandarin and truly immersing yourself in Chinese life, I cannot recommend LTL Beijing enough.

From my experience LTL is the best. The teachers and staff are friendly helpful and accommodating, and the activities are fun and interesting.

I had a great experience at LTL school in Beijing. I highly recommend my teacher Ellie, as she really helped me to improve my level of spoken Chinese. She shared a lot of interesting insights about the local culture and we had a really good time. I really learned a lot and feel more comfortable in speaking Chinese now.

Would highly recommend LTL! I had Alex as my teacher and she was fantastic - very engaging, friendly, and encouraging. The school also organised weekly activities like games with Chinese buddies and dinners. The classrooms were very clean and in a central location

I had a great experience at LTL in Beihai. Communication beforehand was good, with a video chat with Savannah to discuss expectations and do a level check. This was very helpful and allowed me to hit the ground running. Airport pickup was also smooth. Savannah was very helpful in my getting established in Beihai, as she helped me to rent a scooter and register with a police station. She also organized regular social events, which give a great opportunity to meet some local people and get some extra language practice.
I was also very happy with my teacher. She was very flexible and adaptable in terms of both timetable and approach to our classes. We had four hours of classes every day and she was very good company and patient throughout, giving good explanations and facilitating conversation, while pushing me to use newly learned vocabulary or structures.
I tried two homestays in Beihai. The first was fine, the two hosts were very friendly and the food great, but there was not so much space in my bedroom to work or study. After the first couple of days at the school, Savannah asked for feedback on the homestay. I said that it was fine and I was enjoying it, but was not overly comfortable for work and study. She then said that there were other options and took me to see my second homestay, which was very comfortable and more convenient for getting to work. The second homestay was a fantastic arrangement. There were three generations in the family, which gave a varied and interesting exposure to language. Everyone was very friendly, made me feel at home and talked with me. There was not much English spoken at home, so I got lots of practice and feel like a made a lot of progress outside of my classes thanks to the family.
Overall, I am very happy with my experience in Beihai and would very happily come again. I came with an HSK4 level and feel like I understood a lot and was able to participate in conversation and in daily life both at home, the school and outside.

The website is very organized. And so is the student portal. Very nice and helpful staff. And Kyle 선생님 is awesome!

Teachers like Tara Chen is dedicated and outstanding. Teacher student ratio at LTL Mandarin is 1:2 to 1:3 maximum insure intimate personal learning and understanding of Chinese words, phrases and paragraphs. Director of Studies Linda is personable and available to address students' concerns.

On the negative side LTL needs to change the carpet and insure that it is regularly steam-cleaned from students and teachers health standpoint. I am a physician who understands the value of cleanliness in everyone well-being.
