Everything worked smoothly (guy didn't turn up the first scheduled pick up slot but because his van broke down - was communicative and came first thing next day). Really efficient. Recieved full quote into my bank just a day or two after sending computer away.

10yr old MacBook Air
Having finally updated my 10yr old MacBook Air, most of the resale companies wouldn't even offer me a price on my old Mac. Macback offered me £85 based on my appraisal, so I thought that was better than nothing.
The process was easy and the courier arrived to collect on time. Simply place the Mac and charger in his padded box and it was done.
A couple of days later, I received an email from Macback informing my appraisal wasn't accurate. They advised that it was in better condition than I had stated and increased my offer to £100. 24hrs later it was sitting in my bank account.
What a breath of fresh air to deal with an ethical company. For the sake of a mere £15, I have told everyone I know that was willing to listen and made the effort to leave a positive review.

Is it a scam?
Received a £230+ valuation for my 10 year old (2015) iMac. Had been in perfect working order, so I graded it a B (in regular use until 2 weeks ago). DHL picked up just in the original box, with no additional packaging provided (unlike stated by Macback). They valued the Mac at £70 - graded at a D. Referred to something about "pink screen". If there was any fault with this Mac, it occurred in transit. Rejected the quote - rather give it away.

To explain the change:
1. Screen Issue – “Pink Hue”
When your iMac arrived, our technicians identified a visible pink tint / hue on the display, most noticeable on lighter backgrounds. This is a common age-related issue on older 5K iMac panels, caused by uniformity changes in the backlight or LCD over time.
Importantly, this is not something that can occur in transit — it isn’t caused by impact or movement, but by natural ageing of the display. Because of this defect, the device could not remain in the Grade B category submitted in the online quote.
2. Grading Adjustment
The original valuation was based on a Grade B device in fully clear display condition. Once the screen tint was confirmed, the iMac had to be re-graded to a lower category, which unfortunately reduced the value. We completely appreciate that the machine appeared to be working well in daily use, but resale grading standards require us to factor in any visible display faults.
3. Packaging
For many collections we do provide packaging and padding via the courier, but if your booking was set up as “original box only”, no extra packaging is used.
As always, you were under no obligation to accept the revised offer. Your decision to decline it is fully respected, and we’ve returned the iMac free of charge.
It’s also important to mention that we cover all related costs — courier booking, collection, return shipping, and the full testing process — even when the revised valuation is due to information missed in the original quote. This ensures customers never pay anything, even if they choose not to proceed.
We’re genuinely sorry the experience wasn’t what you hoped for, but we hope this explanation provides clarity on why the quote changed and why the fault identified could not have been caused in transit.

Broken Mac but easy service
Broken Mac. Not worth much at all. But at least it’s been recycled and isn’t just sitting in a box under my bed anymore. Easy enough to do. Just needed to be in to hand over the Mac to the shipping people. Good service all round. Simple stuff.

Quoted £210 - which I thought was fair. Received an offer of £10 - a 95% reduction, based on faults it did not have when I sent it. Shameless.
I can see from other (less 'well-managed') Google reviews, that they do seem to pull the same trick - decent valuation, then BAM... £10 offer.

The online quote was submitted as a 2019 model with double the RAM and a fusion drive, however, the device we received was actually a 2015 model without a fusion drive and with lower specifications. In addition, the iMac arrived without a keyboard or mouse, and the screen showed visible screen burn and a pink border, which unfortunately meant it could not be graded as a “B” condition device.
These differences between the quoted and received specifications are what caused the reduction in valuation.
We never reduce prices unfairly or as a standard practice — our quotes are always honoured when the details match. We understand your frustration, but the assessment was made accurately based on the condition and model received.

Fantastic Service and Fair Price
After I decided to part with my iMac I did some research of who might buy it from me.
After using one of the big companies quotation service, I was offered £40, so I turned to Macback, a sponsored link.
Reading their TrustPilot reviews they were positive and when I requested a quotation it was for so much more than the other quotes.
They let me select the date of collection (I was on holiday for a week) so this was fantastic, then was kept updated about what to do, as well as the collection.
The box and padding were provided by the courier and they took it from me.
The process could not have been easier.
I was then informed my quoted price was going to be sent in full as it matched my description and the money arrived in my account later the same day.
