Family photoshoot
We attended a family photoshoot that I had wanted for a while, the teenage children weren't impressed!! Our experience as soon as we got there was very relaxed and welcoming, Zoë and Beth put everyone at ease with a smile and coffee. We had a fun filled hour and the photos showed that at the viewing. Debs was great at going through the pictures and helped massively reduce down the images to fit our budget.
This is our 2nd family photoshoot (1st one was years ago at a different studio) I felt the prices were very similar but would say I felt Mackney was much more professional and welcoming.

We won a competition for a pet photo shoot, despite our dog being an awkward client to get to pose the photographer and person assisting on the shoot persevered very professionally and came out with some great photos we’ll appreciate forever.

Entered a competition for a baby of…
Entered a competition for a baby of the year which was lovely when I found out I won it was lovely to be asked but then on the day I started to get doubts I thought maybe I would have to pay extra for the prints which I was willing to pay but the prints only come with a package which the cheapest is £500 which for a woman who is on maternity leave is not affordable I have spoken to the lady and she said there work is worth £500 which I completely understandable but I suggested maybe with the competition do a maternity print package for the ladies who enter just to help only a few digital prints of your baby the lady did disagree and I don’t think anything will change but I just wanted to let people know I have said that the £35 booking fee should be paid forward to the next family with a baby as I won’t be getting it refunded which is fine just be aware when entering competitions you will be paying extra a lot extra for any images.

Thank you for your review. We’re sorry to hear you left feeling disappointed and would like to clarify a few points for accuracy.
Our prints start from £65, and our collections start from £495, which include six professionally mounted prints. All pricing is shared clearly before the session.
The £35 booking fee is a deposit to secure a session in our diary and is refundable with 72 hours’ notice. Without sufficient notice, it becomes non-refundable, which is standard practice for appointment-based businesses.
Our Baby of the Year sessions are complimentary photoshoots with no obligation to purchase; however, families who value and love our work often choose to do so. We are not a digital-only studio and have always been transparent that our work is finished into prints, framed pieces, or albums.
We understand our work won’t be the right fit for everyone, and we’re proud that our many 5-star reviews reflect the experience most families have with us.

The experience of having photos professionally done was new to both me and my partner
The atmosphere was so informal allowing us a range of settings and a choice of outfits

Staff are professional and lovely but “free” photoshoot isn’t free
I saw an Instagram ad inviting people to enter for a chance to win a free pet photoshoot. I entered my details and was contacted almost immediately to say I had won.
The photoshoot itself was a great experience. The photographer, Amy, was absolutely lovely, and everyone in the studio was friendly, helpful, and clearly passionate about what they do. They showed incredible patience with my dog and honestly, more than I had. They made sure she felt calm and comfortable throughout. They managed to capture some genuinely lovely shots, and you can tell they are true professionals who put a lot of care into their work.
I’ve given 4 stars because although the photoshoot is described as “free,” you do have to pay if you want any prints or digital images. Some of the packages are extremely expensive and comparable to a month’s rent or mortgage which felt quite surprising. The free photoshoot includes a mug and two complimentary key rings with your chosen photo, though these also feature the company’s logo and details on the back.
Overall, my experience was positive and I’m glad I went, but knowing what I know now about the pricing, I wouldn’t do it again.

Friendly and accommodating
I was given a gift voucher by work colleagues for my Birthday . The team at Mackney Photography were very friendly and accommodating. I left it to the last minute to book my family session and they were brilliant , allowing a small extension to facilitate the shoot . Communications are excellent. The day of the photo shoot was friendly and relaxed , they even brought an extra member of staff to help entertain and focus my autistic grandson. The photo's were excellent, meaning as in my case, it's hard to stick to the one photo included with a gift voucher. Beautiful family memories made .

Our pup had other ideas and would not sit and pose, I was convinced there would not be many to choose from - how wrong we were.
