Repeatedly let down.
Dealing with this roofer has been a very frustrating and stressful experience.
Despite a commitment in writing, when quoting, they has failed to provide the insurance backed guarantee after repeated promises it was on its way. I have to assume there was no intention to ever provide this.
I was quoted a price and as soon as the scaffolding was up he told me that the facias also needed replacing and, that if they were not, the integrity of the roof repair would be impaired. The cost was an extra £3.5k and it was not an option to get anyone else to do the job using his scaffolding.
When I was told the roof was completed the roofers working on the neighbouring property pointed out several faults that they could see in the roof which I had to ask to be fixed.
The stench pipe was broken and I had to push for it to be repaired as he said it was not his problem but the scaffolders.
The roof appears to be a reasonable job and there have been no leaks.
Getting the job cleared up was a nightmare. All the debris from the roof was left in the front garden including on the path to the house. Resulting in the tenants demanding a rent reduction.
The clearing of the front garden was frequently delayed without any explanation. When we were told it was completed and went to check we found the grass was full of bits of roofing material. In the end we cleared a lot of this ourselves.
