Ordered early December, money taken out of account 5th December, no contact since. Very disappointed

Ordered two maps on 12th December 2023 following marketing emails saying 'in time for Christmas delivery'.
Yesterday I checked my order and it still hadn't been fulfilled so I emailed to ask when I could expect it to be at least dispatched.

Generic email response:
Hi Karen,

Thank you for your email, sorry to hear your map has not yet arrived.

I’ve checked our dispatch system and can confirm that your order should leave our warehouse today using Royal Mail first class postage. Unfortunately this option does not offer step by step tracking details.

Thanks a lot for your patience, but of course, please let us know if it fails to turn up. Just to let you know that we are very busy and are experiencing an unprecedented demand for our Marvellous Maps. This, coupled with Royal Mail delays, means orders are taking a little longer to arrive right now in the run up to Christmas.

The warehouse team have pulled out all the stops and are doing all they can to process and dispatch the maps to our waiting customers as soon as possible.

Hopefully, you won't have to wait much longer for your map order to arrive.

Well Louise, it's still pending fulfillment today so obviously you really didn't check the dispatch system.

Will not use, nor recommend, this company again.

Now to fight for a refund

Marvellous Maps (Squeaky Wheels Ltd) have shown a disregard of online selling regulations, no understanding about how contracts are formed and seemingly their own terms and conditions and they mis-sell by promoting delivery lead times which they know they can't fulfil.

I responded to their marketing email in which they claimed they would deliver in time for Christmas. I ordered maps as gifts and expected despatch on Monday (as described across their website).

Monday came and went with no update so I checked the online order and the status was still unfulfilled. With no means to contact other than email I sent a message asking for an update. I didn't get a response so I cancelled the order, clearly, and requested a refund asap.

Given the contract hadn't been formed and the order was still unfulfilled I expected a no fuss refund. Sadly, this didn't happen.

'Louise' responded asking me to point out where it states the lead times I was expecting. They said was actually much longer so needed correcting. I pointed out this was stated on every product page, their delivery FAQs and in the marketing email I'd received.

There was no further communication for two days and at 5pm on Thursday I got a notification the maps were despatched - this was over 3 days after it was meant to be despatched and 2 days after I'd cancelled.

I'd since ordered alternative gifts for the intended recipients so reminded Louise I'd cancelled and still required a refund. Louise responded to tell me there was a 'cut off' date where they no longer accept edits or cancellations (what this date is she didn't say but given I'd cancelled before fulfillment it makes you wonder if they make it up as they go along).

Louise also advised me they don't cover return postage cost and described the process I need to follow to return the maps (at my expense) if I wanted a refund.

There's been no apology or acknowledgement of their mistake. Only scapegoating Royal Mail and a 'like it or lump it' attitude.

Not only have they created a very unnecessarily negative experience causing upset and stress but they're drawing it out further and I'm forced to use Paypals resolution service so I'm not out of pocket.

In summary, this business refuses to take responsibility when they've got it wrong, treats customers badly and just doesn't play fair. Not at all what you'd expect from a certified B-corp.

Others with a similar experience might find it useful to know there is a formal complaint process you can trigger when you believe there's been misconduct or misrepresentation by Certified B Corporation.

I ordered a map from these people last week. £19.99! They are sending emails advertising their offers and last posting days! They have taken the money from my account but no map and no response from the several emails that I have sent. I now don’t have time (or money) to get something else for my friend.

They sell maps they don’t have in stock and now I can’t buy from elsewhere in time for Christmas.

The maps are absolutely brilliant. So much thought and detail in them. Unfortunately my order was delayed due to postal strikes. However Samantha replied to my messages immediately and was so helpful. I would hugely reccomend the maps and the service is great!

Always super quick delivery! Literally the next day my order arrives!

Definitely makes a perfect present for loved ones for Christmas or birthdays! I have bought lots for my friends and family this Christmas but I now wish I had got myself at least one!

This company, it’s products and USP are amazing!!!! First class products for personal use or gifting and customer service is bar-none .. highly recommend and if I haven’t already got all the maps I will be back ..

Ordered 3 days ago and arrived today - excellent format and layout with loads of relevant and interesting information

Ordered two maps as presents but they failed to arrive despite the Royal Mail tracking system telling me they had been delivered! I would guess they had been delivered but to someone else. I contacted Marvellousmaps on the Friday and two more maps were delivered today, Tuesday and no charge. Have to say excellent customer service and the product looks fabulous.

Good map - does what it says on the tin. Arrived on time and good price :-)

Unfortunately after 3 weeks, still no sign of my order. After enquiring about 1 week and a half, I was sent a nice email stating they were back ordered but expected the next week. I was clear that these were Xmas gifts that were needed ASAP to send abroad. No message to tell me they had not been sent as was told or even an update. I finally had to cancel the order. No offer to do better or for a discount for future or anything. Very poor.
