- Located at a former lumber mill, Mashpi Lodge was built using the latest techniques in sustainable construction in order to prevent damage to the forest, with much of the structure having been preassembled in Quito and designed around the topography of the site to prevent further damage to the trees. Exploration: the Life Center walk with Jonathan was educational with his remarkable knowledge of fauna and flora.
The introductory explanation by Juan Carlos.
The dragon Fly ride with Klever who had a massive knowledge of trees and plants.
The hummingbird visit with Jonathan who assisted each of us to make a memorable experience and great photographs.
The sky bike ride and observation tower visit guided by Juan Carlos and our discussion about cloud forest environs, scientific research on new plant species, climate changes and the impact of El Nino weather events.
The science lab visit with Mateo who explained about larger game ranges and behaviors, and the Mashpi mission to educate and improve conservation as it integrated with local inhabitants and farmers.
All in all, an educational, fun and exciting experience provided to us with care in the lap of luxury.

I watched a few videos on the property before arriving, still wasn’t sure what to expect. It turned out to be such a beautiful experience. Much more than I expected. Everything was made super easy, and well thought out. Little to no time wasted. Our guide Carlos was super friendly, catered to our needs and went above and beyond to make sure we had a wonderful experience. Each meal we were waited on by Edison who was also amazing along with the bartender Diego. One of the last places my fiance and I visited was the spa which was very relaxing as well.

Every detail was thought of and every desire accommodated. The rooms, the restaurant and lodge is absolutely stunning. The daily activities were educational and unforgettable. We have traveled much of the world and this experience and staff is the best we have ever encountered.

A real great example for the Conservación Forest.
A very good friend of us recomend come to visit, so we came to celebrate our birthday and Aniversary and was AMAZING. Is beautiful to see the forest is in a process of restauring and the fantastic work with comunities. Our tour guide Estuardo was fenomenal, Jessica and all the girls in the reception offert to us a very good information previous to come, Pamela in the restaurant was amazing, and all the staff fantastic and very profesional. The food was an amazing delicius ecuadorian representation.
All Mashpi make our stay absolutely remarcable and wonderful.
Is a place to go and back.
Totaly recomended!

JUST PERFECT
Rating this hotel 5/5 is similar to calling the surrounding nature “beautiful”. It is apt but it is not a truly adequate representation of the amazing experience we have had at the Mashpi Lodge. There are no words or a rating system that can describe our stay.
The location is out of this world. The cuisine is authentic and delicious. The nature is “beautiful”. The activities offered by the hotel were mesmerizing. The SPA treatments were the best in Ecuador. In general, the hotel exceeded our expectations.
Most importantly, the people that work in the hotel are the secret ingredient that make it so special. The staff is extremely attentive and positive. The atmosphere is just lovely. Special thanks to Santiago who is the nicest, most knowledgeable and caring guide we have ever met. He made us feel safe even during the night jungle walks. He is truly a guardian of the rainforest. Finally, words of appreciation to Edison - the always-smiling waiter - who introduced us to Ecuadorian specialities.
I would highly recommend this hotel. A must-do that should be on everyone’s bucket list.

A magical experience in the cloudforest…
A magical experience in the cloud forest. The guides are fantastic, very knowledgeable and want to transfer their passion for the Choco Forest to guests. Food and service are outstanding with a menu of local and more familiar dishes. There are an array of activities for active people and less active people. Don't miss the Sky Bike, the observation tower, a waterfall, the Life Center, the hummingbird garden, and the research center. The lodge facilities are spacious and nicely appointed. Highly recommended.
