Welcome to Masons Avenue Opticians, originally dating from 1905 as Hodd Barnes & Dickins Opticians, we were at the centre of innovation in Optics and Contact Lenses in The City of London. Always striving with innovative techniques in contact lens wear and excellence in optical health has allowed the city practice to provide eye care to the financial centre of the country for over a century. Since moving to our current premises in the late 1980’s, the Mason’s Avenue Practice has maintained its status as one of the most professional, service orientated independent Opticians in the City of London. A policy of only employing professionally trained Optometrists & Dispensing Opticians, introducing the latest diagnostic instrumentation and fully computerising the practice, has carried the company successfully into the 21st Century.

I have been a customer of HBD for many years, having my eyes tested every year and buying glasses from them whenever needed. They are superb, and delightful people to deal with. I recommend them unreservedly.

What a wonderful experience
What a wonderful experience. I came to see HBD for an eye exam, my glasses also hadnt been changed in a few years. The level of service was something that I had never received before at an opticians. After my exam I was helped to find the right glasses for me. There range is extensible with ranges from your known brands like Channel to some really different quirky brands. There was so much choice I ended up purchasing 2 as I couldnt pick. Thank you to Kay for making something that is normally mundane a lot of fun!

Best opticians in London!
HBD is the BEST opticians in London! I've used them for over a decade and they always provide stellar advice about glasses, contact lenses and eye health. Really appreciate their attention to detail and commitment to learning :)

Highly recommended and exceptionally professional
Exceptionally professional. The whole service was well managed , organised and Covid safe . Each examination and consultation was carried out well , making me feel comfortable . I was given a choice of very good frames and advice about the best product fro me . Very good follow up and after care .
