Charged early return fee 15 minutes🙄 no information on their vouchers or website concerning that charges will be incurred as soon as you arrive in airport carpark at Faro, it states early return and no further info, would not let us remain with car for 15 minutes, keys where taken and charge applied, would not use Zest or Master kings ever, shocking treatment of customers, as soon as they have your credit card details they think they can literally take you for a ride, also interesting to see positive reviews on zest website, yet reviewing them elsewhere does not paint a pretty picture

We have used masterkings at Faro airport for the past few years and have been very satisfied with their service until our recent trip. I will agree however that even on previous trips you have to follow up to get your toll transponder deposit back, I assume most don’t and this provides some extra income. However we recently were charged almost 50 euros when returning the car due to a bit of sand, we have never had an issue with this before and it wasn’t that bad, I assumed that the cars are usually wiped down before a new driver anyway. I asked if they had a dust pan and brush to quickly do it myself which they didn’t, so I tried the local service station but unfortunately the vacuum was out of order, I was told there was another service station a few miles away but I couldn’t find it and we didn’t want to miss our flight, especially as we had our 2 year old with us. So if you do use them beware of the extra charges, they still might work out good value but we will be shopping around a bit next time.

I have hired many cars from masterkings in Portugal over the years, but unfortunately I had the misfortune of having a bump and them taking €2000 of me as a deposit, I have insurance but the insurance company want a detailed accident report from them to make my claim, its now 5 weeks from the accident date and masterkings just will not give me a report so now I have lost €2000 thanks to the way I have been treated by them , the moral of the story, your personal insurance is useless if you need to make a claim BEWARE OF HIRING CARS FROM MASTERKINGS they just want to keep your full deposit

All fine with the rental car process. What has made me dock two stars is that they needed to be prompted via zest to repay the toll charge deposit.
A few warnings from a recent experience
A couple of things you should know when renting with Masterkings (i did via Zest Car Rental).
1. Their cars are older, expect 50k + mileage
2. A deposit was taken of 25 euros for the toll transponder which I assured them I don't need. I was promised it would be refunded back when I returned the car. Their Ts & Cs state 21 days. I have just been on the phone to Zest to try and understand why after 35 days I haven't received the money back.
3. my flight landed at 18:20 and I made my way to the little cabin at the other end of the airport car park (it might tell you it's 'on airport but only just) - expect a long walk from arrivals through to the back of the car park. After queuing and witting for my turn the clock ticked past 20:00 - I was charged 30 euros for late pick-up. This is unacceptable - I queued and waited- it took them 20 minutes to do the paperwork. So, got their on time, waited for my turn, and was charged for the privilege.
After the charges, they aren't the cheapest any more/ If you want to avoid charges and go to an airport desk to do the paperwork - collect the keys etc this isn't the one for you.

RED WARNING….NEVER rent from this Company. It’s no wonder that 55% of reviews are ONE star…probably Zero if it was possible. I fell for their usual trick of being charged for “extra charges”…in my case “no car documents “ (that is the car instruction manual…who on earth would actually want to steal such a document) which was apparently meant to be in the pocket in front of the passenger seat. It was missing on return of the car, but in fact it was never there as when we left the car park, I happened to look in this pocket to see if it would take my IPad, but all it contained was the Cigar lighter piece. It was interesting to note that upon the return, after looking around the outside of the car the FIRST thing the staff member looked for was the “document compartment”, not the mileage/petrol gauge, not the boot for spare wheel/luminous jacket etc….a well rehearsed procedure. We had to pay Euros 150, even though one can be bought online for Euros 25 or downloaded for free.
On top we had to pay a deposit of Euros 40 for parking and motorway charges, neither of which we used but the deposit has not been returned. From other reviews I guess that will be a challenge!
In my view they are complete CON MERCHANTS and I advise EVERYONE to avoid them at all costs.
Great experience from start to finish
Unlike other experiences with some rental agents and suppliers, Master Kings proved to be a great choice for our car picked up at Faro Airport. Booked via Zest agents, very simple process, good communication and responses and the whole end to end experience was first class. Pick up and drop off very efficient. No hidden extras.
Absolutely no problems
Excellent service from both MasterKings and Zest who I booked it through (pick up at Faro).
I was somewhat sceptical about the low price I got quoted but was pleasantly surprised. 30,000K nice Skoda Fabia. No issues handing back having taken the pre-requisite photos beforehand. The deposit never made it out of my account and follow up communication with Zest to get my transponder deposit back was excellent. No tolls in the Algarve area now and on my trip to Lisbon I paid the charge at the booth so made no use of the transponder.
After 21 days I emailed Zest about getting my transponder deposit back and that was resolved and back in my account on the same day.
Would definitely use again but definitely through Zest

I wouldn't recommend MasterKings because of poor customer service. We experienced an earlier flight change in departure time for 8:30 AM. MasterKings opens at 8:00 AM. This makes it very tight to return a vehicle, do the paperwork, wait in line, check in at the airport, security, boarding, etc. I asked if they open earlier for flight changes. No they do not. I then arrived at 7:30 AM and paid a 30 euro penalty for having the attendant come in earlier. Anyone who had a MasterKings rental would have paid that same amount on that flight or earlier flights. Three months after arriving home we noticed an unexplained 50 Euro charge on our credit card. There was no prior explanation from MasterKings. After exchanging several emails we were told we were given a ticket. Was it for speeding? Was it a parking ticket? MasterKings charged 50 Euros to provide the authorities the name of the driver of the ticketed vehicle. Three months later I am still waiting to have proof we were ticketed.

Masterkings - Not trustworthy
I would rate them with zero stars if I could. After our car rental and after asking them for several months, they refused to provide an invoice showing car repair details and costs that were not covered by the "top up" insurance I purchased. Finally, Zest, the car rental broker I worked with provided a refund for the amount not covered. I was very happy with Zest, but sorely disappointed in Masterkings. I would not recommend them to anyone.
Goede service en vriendelijk personeel
Via Economy Car Rentals kwamen we bij Masterkings in Faro terecht. Ruim een maand reden we in de Algarve met een fijne Honda Civic. Afhalen ging vlot, beschadigingen aan auto waren duidelijk gemarkeerd en creditcard van mijn mede bestuurder werd zonder problemen geaccepteerd toen mijn kaart weigerde. Bij terugbrengen stond medewerker ons op parkeerplaats al op te wachten en na snelle check was alles afgehandeld. Reservering op creditcard voor borg en tolkastje kwam snel retour. Goede service voor schappelijke prijs.

Alquilámos una Mercedes Vito y me quedé sin 2500€ por 10 días
Alquilámos una Mercedes Vito, el día 26/09/2024, para nuestro grupo en el aeropuerto de Faro. Al recoger el coche han pedido una trajeta de crédito para bloquer 2500€ que serían restituidos en el día de la entrega del coche. Después de hacer el check-out del coche en el día 29 de Septiembre, pregunto si es necesario pasar la tarjeta para desbloquear y no cobrar los 2500€, una vez que la Mercedes no tenía ningún daño hecho por nosotros. La persona que ha hecho el chequeo del coche, nos dice que eso es con lo departamento financiero y ellos no pueden hacer nada más. Le pido para que escriba en el papel del alquiler la confirmación que todo está bien con el coche en esa fecha.
Unos días después, tengo la sorpresa del cobro de 2500€ en mí cuenta. No habían bloqueado ese valor de mi trajeta pero sí, lo habían cobrado. He tenido que enviar un email para MasterKings para solicitar mi reembolso. Después de su pedido de disculpas y solicitud de mis datos bancarios para hacer la transferencia caso no fuera posible por trajeta, he tenido que enviar otro email solicitando información sobre el caso y estuve sin mí dinero hasta el día 10 de Octubre.
Es lamentable como se ha procesado todo y dejo esta reseña para alertar futuros clientes en la hora de dejar su trajeta de crédito. Yo y las personas de mí grupo ya no volveremos a alquilar coches en esta empresa.

Easy pick up and easy drop off at Faro Airport. Good car in good condition. I have hired from Masterkinks a number of times through Zest and they have never added on any extra costs or charged for spurious 'scratches' etc
Don't expect any help if your car is hit.
I booked a car with Masterkings via Zest. The car and guys at Faro are fine, but if someone hits your car, don't expect any help from them. Zest just say call the police, and the Masterkings helpline wasn't much better. If it wasn't for a our Portuguese speaking villa rep, we would have been stranded. Furthermore, despite taking out the full insurance with no excess payable, Masterkings still insisted on taking my 450 euro security deposit before replacing the car. It took over 8 weeks of constant emails to get a refund.
