I signed up with The Matchmaking Company in Princeton, NJ in March 2025 and paid $3,000 for their services. Their materials state that introductions generally occur within 3–10 business days after processing.

I submitted all requested information promptly. By the 11th business day, no introduction had been made and no meaningful progress update was provided. Based on the stated timeframe, I requested cancellation and a refund.

After I requested cancellation, I was presented with a match. The proposed first meeting was described as a four‑hour fine dining dinner costing up to $150 per person. Based on the communication, I understood that I would be expected to cover at least half, if not the full expense. This did not align with what I had previously been told — that initial meetings are typically simple, such as coffee or lunch — so I was not comfortable proceeding.

In subsequent email communication, a company representative stated they would never introduce a client “to bait them” and offered to speak further. However, the company ultimately declined to issue a refund.

I disputed the charge with American Express and provided documentation. After review, American Express reversed the charge.

According to my credit report, the account was first reported to credit bureaus on December 12, 2025, and later updated on March 18, 2026. I formally dispute that I owe this balance, as I do not believe the agreed-upon timeline was met.

Prospective clients should carefully review the contract terms, understand the cancellation policy, and document all timelines.

If I could give this company no stars I would! This company is fraudulent! They take people’s money, and then do not deliver what they promise. They prey on people’s loneliness, and “ suck” them in by pretending to offer a great service. Customer service is non existent. If you want to flush money down the drain, then they will help you do it! Taking a substantial amount of money from you while selling the promise of compatible matches that the company is unable to deliver raises serious concerns about exploitation and harassment!
In my opinion, this reflects a deeply misleading and exploitative business practice. They deliberately mislead clients and operate unethically and dishonestly, assuming that once a contract is signed, it gives them the right to take payment without delivering the promised services. The company’s responses to reviews appear to be automated and repeatedly reference vague “next steps,” yet those steps are never clearly defined. At this point, the only meaningful next steps would be either providing a genuinely compatible match that meets the stated criteria or issuing a refund. This company appears to care more about collecting money than protecting or respecting their clients—especially women. There was zero accountability, no empathy, and no effort to resolve the situation in a fair or ethical way.

I strongly urge anyone considering this service to think twice. If you are looking for a safe, respectful, and supportive experience, this is not the place. My experience left me feeling deceived, manipulated, and deeply disrespected. No one should have to go through something like this and be treated as though it doesn’t matter.

After 3 hours of interview and committing to thousands of dollars, my first encounter was a disaster. The gentleman they matched me with did not meet my criteria in any way, shape, or form. No attraction whatsoever!

Do not use this company to meet your forever person because it won't happen. They are non compliant when it comes to meeting the criteria set forth and all they want to do is fulfill their obligation that you meet 3 separate people. They don't consider compatibility, attraction, personality, common interests. If they did, my very first match would have had some matchability, but all my first experience did for me was to be discouraged and not use them any further. They could not possibly prove to me they weren't just scamming me! I made it clear to Tracy what I was looking for. I even showed her photos of the type of guy I was looking for. I was totally ignored. They promise 3 dates and they deliver 3 dates that will not suit you whatsoever!

They don't approve or endorse massive age gap dating or dynamics. Which excludes guys like me that specifically seek this out.

They are so enthusiastic for my happiness! I am so excited to meet my first match, we are going skydiving for our first date! I am so looking forward to this adventure 😊

I had an extremely UNCOMFORTABLE, HARASSING and upsetting experience with this matchmaking company. After being harassed on a date arranged through their service, I reached out expecting concern, accountability, and support. Instead, my experience was completely dismissed.

Rather than taking the situation seriously, they minimized what happened and showed no regard for my safety or well-being. I was made to feel belittled, humiliated, and completely insignificant. What’s even more shocking is that they still expected me to continue my membership and pay in full, as if nothing had happened.

Worst experience. Don't waste your money. Lost thousands of dollars and never had any one for me so they sent an Indian man who wanted an Indian woman (I am not Indian) and a biker who spent every weekend with the bikers and i do not. A man who lived in a room with his children who only left the house once a week!!!!!!!!!!

I was impressed with the company from my first meeting! They listened and were sincerely thinking of my well-being. I was given some coaching lessons for free and met a wonderful coach named Brittany. She was great! I learned so much from her about the dating process and also things about myself!

My matchmaker is Theresa Brown. Theresa has been extremely helpful and supportive. As someone new to matchmaking I am fortunate to have Theresa as my matchmaker. She does a great job of providing positive feedback and suggestions on how to improve. I would be lost without someone like Theresa.

What a journey full of ups and downs. I'm not going to lie, this started VERY rough for me. I had been single for a long time, and the dating apps were laughing in my face. My friend signed me up, saying, "What can it hurt?" I received the phone call and tried to ask about pricing, but they wouldn't talk about it; they wanted to meet in person. I said I didn't want to waste anyone's time if it was not feasible, but they still wouldn't tell me anything.
So, I went to the local office (the worst part of the whole process). The conversation started well; she got me to open up and said all the right things. Then we get to the money, and whoa! I was shocked. I didn't expect it to be cheap, but still! This is where our 2-3 hour appointment took a turn. I was unsure about the money, and she started giving me "deals", "deals she doesn't make with anyone", "the best possible deal she can give me because she wants this for me". I told her I needed some time to think things over. She told me that if I left, the deals were off the table, and I had to sign right then. She started throwing personal things I mentioned back in my face about why I was single and would always be single if I didn't make this investment in myself. After feeling like this was my only option to ever find my "happily ever after", I signed, paid, and left in tears. (Suggestion for the company: don't have us fill out a survey or feedback form for this process in the office. I couldn't give my honest feedback because I was literally handing it back to the person who made me miserable.)
With that said, the best thing she did for me and the best part of the experience was my coaching with Shallyce. I honestly don't think I would have made it through this process without her. As a person, I have come a LONG way since my first conversation with Shallyce. I may have done the work, but dang it, she pushed me and stuck by me when I had doubts. She was definitely the bright spot in what was sometimes a dark process.
The matchmaker process itself, I had a love/hate relationship with. My first match was very quick, and after meeting, I felt they matched me with someone just to get the first one done. I don't think we had one thing in common. I had another match where my date said to me, "I don't know why they matched us". Which was true; he was a real piece of work. As I was coming down to my last couple of matches, I felt very defeated by the process. I had asked for a break from matches as I needed time to get excited about the process again. Then I received the phone call. There was a match that both my matchmaker, Amy, and my coach, Shallyce, thought would be a great match for me. I agreed, and I am so glad I did. I believe that I finally found my person. I am currently in a happy hold and am very happy!
While I wish the beginning of the process had been different, I am so glad I stuck with it because it led me to my person. I truly believe this is my happily ever after.

At the initial consultation, the company created a profile outlining my clearly stated, non-negotiable preferences, including religion, level of education, and compatible interests. However, the few introductions that were presented did not meet these basic criteria. Some individuals had different religious beliefs, others did not match the specified education level, and overall compatibility in interests was lacking. These introductions cannot reasonably be considered appropriate matches.
This suggests that the company did not have an adequate pool of candidates who matched my profile and age range, yet they proceeded to enroll me and accept a significant payment for the service.

I am tall, pretty, athletic. First match said I was stunning. Next two matches were completely inappropriate. The second man had difficulty walking. It has now been 8 months without a match.

When I signed up I was told there was a large pool of men and in fact 2 guys were just perfect for me. I did ask how large the pool was, but was never given an answer.

So ladies, they really are NOT there. I paid $7K and have had 3 matches in 17 months. I may be 85 by the time I have met all 8 of my matches. That was not my plan.

My third match told me that he had started in February and had a match every month. So if you are a guy, perhaps you will have more opportunities.

Yes, my MM was to call me, didn't. So I wrote an email and sent a text to explain my concerns and basically was told, "you signed a contract."

Sorry, I made a bad investment based on an enthusiastic sales person. Ask about the pool of people, ask how frequent are the dates, ask how many MM folks they have working on your behalf for starters.
