I went there with my brother to get new tires for his car. I wasn’t satisfied with the work. The wait time was crazy. A employee named James was professional, kind and patient. Because of him we didn’t drive off and go to a new location. Thank you James for everything but we will not be coming back to that location again. Sorry….

Needed service on my car; my first time here. Josh and Andre were very helpful and professional. I really appreciate the great work, and their caring manner.

This Mavis used to be great and helpful, but in the last year it has gone downhill. Some examples include:

1) Allowing me to schedule an appointment then when I showed up telling me that they don't work under the online appointments and it would first come/first served.
2) When my daughter wanted to swap from snowtires to regular tires (both of which she already owned). She explained that she needed the car by a certain time, they agreed, that time came and past, when she called they said the tires were dry rotted and they would not do it. Mine they did not call, she had to AND they had taken the tires off the rims two months earlier and mentioned nothing.
3) We scheduled an appointment for an inspection online and they later called and said they could not honor because they were booked up, yet it was open online. The manager told me, it has always been that way, and that is why I give people the direct number only.

Basically, beware of this place now. It not what it used to be.

Stay away from the Mavis in New Windsor. My son took his car there for an inspection and they told him he needed a brake fluid service and rear brakes. I just did the front brakes and checked the rear brakes while doing a brake fluid flush a month ago, all the pads and rotors were well above requirement, but something could have frozen up so when I did the rear brakes today. The rotors and pads were still all well above the requirements to pass. I went to Mavis to speak to a manager and was told they failed because of a score mark so shallow it would be hard to feel if your eyes were closed on rotors that were otherwise in good condition . I asked him to explain how such a shallow score mark on an otherwise good rotor with evenly worn pads could possibly pose a safety issue and he could not answer me, he said it was at their discretion. Here's a shocker an elderly woman just brought her car in for an inspection and guess what, she needed brakes too. She overhead me and asked my advise and I told her to take it to elswhere and recommended a local shop I use. I usually stay away from shops like Mavis for just this reason and always use a reliable local mom and pop shop for any work I'm not comfortable doing. Unfortunately he needed it done on short notice and I had just checked everything so I couldn't imagine it being a problem, but these franchise shops prove me wrong once again.

I've been a loyal customer of Mavis for over 30Years, from Nanuet, Haverstraw and now your shop at Vais Gate NY. I've always been treated excellent from all the staff. Today I made an appointment for tire repair for 9am and was service quickly. I was greeted by Josh shop manager and was out in less that 30 minutes. Josh and staff are always polite and friendly and will listen to your concerns. I like the fact that you have discounts and coupons to save you money. I've taken many of my cars for new tires, wheel alingment, brakes etc. Excellent crew at Vais Gate NY

I brought my vehicle in for an oil change and had two tires that were losing pressure. Nail and faulty valve stem. They repaired the issues on the tires, and provided the oil change expeditiously. Manager, Andre and his assistant, Tony, were kind and friendly as always. Vails gate Mavis, NY is my go to and will continue to be. Thanks !!

TPMS light came on over holiday weekend. Called and was asked to bring it in right away. A quick check of the system showed a defective wheel sensor, replaced same, all done very, very quickly. Fast, professional, efficient service at honest prices. Very Very happy customer.

The staff at Mavis are extremely kind and helpful! I am only 21 and this was my first time bringing in my car to get tires changed so I didn't know what to expect and was worried about prices. Mark was so sweet and explained everything I needed to know with patience and even helped discount the price to insure the tires I was getting. Very good people! Will be back!
