Disappointing first time experience from Motorpoint Coventry
I purchased a Peugeot 3008 GT from Motorpoint Coventry on the evening of 23rd January. Unfortunately, almost immediately after driving away, I realised there was an issue with the brakes. I returned the car first thing on Saturday 24th and was informed that the near-side rear brake caliper was seized and that the metal of the brake pad had been grinding into the brake disc.
I found this extremely concerning, particularly as Motorpoint’s website states that all vehicles are checked by experts and undergo a comprehensive multipoint inspection. It is difficult to understand how such a serious and obvious issue could have been missed.
To their credit, I was provided with a VW Polo as a loan car so that I wasn’t left without transport. However, this vehicle was completely unsuitable for my work needs and significantly below the standard of the car I had purchased. Communication was also disappointing. The Service Manager told me on two separate occasions that he would call with updates, but no calls were received and I had to repeatedly chase for information myself.
After speaking with the Prep Manager, the situation improved somewhat. I was able to have the loan car upgraded to something more suitable, and he did a better job of keeping me informed, which I appreciated and he is the only reason this review is not being scored as a 1.
I have since been informed that the Peugeot has required new brake discs, pads, a caliper, plus a new sensor and wiring harness. The process took over three weeks, then when I got the car back I found the Oil had been over filled excessively and on its first decent drive out and it spat oil all over the manifold causing smoke from the engine bay. It must have been serviced and checked by the new apprentice.
Overall, this has been a very frustrating and disappointing experience. While some staff members were helpful, the initial quality checks and level of communication have fallen well below expectations.

A very positive experience
The staff were very helpful but not pushy. They arranged for the transportation of a car from another venue to Coventry and gave us a clear and concise breakdown of how the 2 cars we were considering compared to help us make our final choice. Following the sale there was a follow-up call just to check everything was OK.

A great experience
It was a very busy Saturday at the Coventry branch, but we were able to book an appointment to view a Mazda CX-30 with ease.
I spoke to Matthew on the phone, who was incredibly helpful and sent me a personalised video of the car. My heart wasn’t set on the vehicle, but after seeing the video I immediately called back to put a deposit down and reserve it.
When we arrived it was very busy, but we were warmly welcomed by Akshay (Ash), who swiftly provided us with the keys, answered a few of my questions and allowed us to test drive the vehicle.
When we returned, Ash was attentive, but didn’t linger intrusively like I have experienced at other car dealerships. I decided to buy the vehicle and Ash provided top rate customer service. He was personable, funny and made me feel comfortable that I had made the right choice.
He made the whole process easy and comfortable and was not pushy. I was very grateful for his service and I think he represented Motorpoint well.
Since buying the vehicle, a service notice appeared on the dashboard. I emailed Ash, who promptly responded and provided simple instructions on how to remove it, as the vehicle was not actually due for its service. Very impressed with the aftercare, as I have received much worse aftercare service from smaller dealerships in the past. I would recommend!
