From the initial brief I gave Ben he totally nailed what we wanted from our Kenyan experience. The holiday itself far surpassed our expectations so much so that we couldn’t choose a favourite destination or hotel .
If we had to choose something which differentiated Nelson travel from others I would say it was the partners it chooses . Each hotel/ lodge were so personable ,engaging with you to ensure your stay would be everything you hoped for .
Genius idea from Nelson is the WhatsApp group you share 24/7 to provide assistance when needed .
Totally marvellous our Asia trip 27/28 is in the making .

Ben and his team curated the perfect safari trip for our family. From first contact about 10months before travel throughout the travel itself, Ben stayed connected with us and we could always clarify all questions quickly. In the beginning, he provided us with various countries and itineraries before we chose Namibia. For Namibia itself, Ben chose amazing resorts where the family could enjoy nature and wildlife. Our highlights were Onduli Ridge and Onguma The Fort plus meeting „Oscar the Giraffe“ at Epako. The guides were amazing and the self-drive was also organized perfectly. If you are looking for a bespoke luxury Safari experience, we would highly recommend Ben and his team!

Cannot recommend Ben & his team highly enough. Communication, quality of camps, game viewing everything was superb.
But they went above & beyond.
We booked our trip in October 2025 for June 25th - July 5th 2026 to celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary
At Christmas our daughter announced her pregnancy- baby due 7th July.
Ben rearranged all the camps, flights etc to the beginning of June so I’d be home in time - at no extra cost.
Not only did we have the most wonderful trip but we were also home to welcome baby Sophia.

Nelson Travel organised a most wonderful family trip for us to Kenya and Zanzibar. The planning was meticulous and in every moment leading up to and during part our trip we felt look after. The two destinations surpassed expectations; so much game on safari in Kenya and amazing hospitality then a stunning resort in Zanzibar. The little extras like someone to meet us at Nairobi airport to guide us through were really appreciated. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

We recently worked with Nelson travel to plan our honeymoon and what a fantastic decision that was. Everything was thought through and straight forward, the places that were recommended / booked were beautiful, the hints and tips shared were extremely useful and the communication and care throughout was so comforting. Okuti Camp im Moremi – Wenn aus Fremden Freunde werden
​Wir haben gerade fünf Nächte im Okuti Camp im Moremi-Wildreservat verbracht und was soll ich sagen? Es war schlichtweg magisch. Da wir drei dieser Nächte das Camp komplett für uns allein hatten, entwickelte sich eine Atmosphäre, die weit über den üblichen Service hinausging – es fühlte sich an wie ein Besuch bei guten Freunden.
​Die Safaris & Fotografie:
Unser Guide Salani hat einen phänomenalen Job gemacht. Er hat wirklich das Maximum für uns herausgeholt und uns zu Momenten geführt, die man so nur selten erlebt: von jungen, verspielten Löwen bis hin zu einer Straußenmutter mit ihren Jungen. Salani hat ein unglaubliches Gespür für die Tiere und die richtige Positionierung, was für erstklassige Aufnahmen entscheidend war.
​Kulinarik & Gastfreundschaft:
Die Küche im Okuti ist exzellent. Besonders beeindruckt hat uns, dass an der Vielfalt und Qualität der Speisen absolut nicht gespart wurde, obwohl wir zeitweise nur zwei Gäste im Camp waren. Ein absolutes Highlight war das Abendessen bei Kerzenlicht auf der Veranda – einfach wunderbar und unbeschreiblich. Auch die Darbietungen der Mitarbeitenden waren ein Erlebnis, das uns sehr berührt hat.
​Das Team:
Das Camp zeichnet sich durch seine Menschen aus. Gee hat uns wunderbar betreut. Nach dem Abendessen saßen wir oft noch lange zusammen und haben über Gott und die Welt philosophiert. Diese tiefgründigen Gespräche haben unseren Aufenthalt auf eine ganz persönliche Ebene gehoben.
​Der Abschied:
Dass der Aufenthalt etwas ganz Besonderes war, zeigte sich am deutlichsten bei unserer Abreise. Als es nach fünf wundervollen Tagen Zeit war zu gehen, ließen es sich diverse Mitarbeiter nicht nehmen, uns ganz spontan zum Jeep zu begleiten, um sich persönlich zu verabschieden. Das war so ein ergreifender Moment, dass wir uns die eine oder andere Abschiedsträne nicht verkneifen konnten.
​Fazit:
Wer eine Kombination aus hochklassigen Tierbeobachtungen, hervorragendem Essen und einer Herzlichkeit sucht, die ihresgleichen sucht, ist hier richtig. Wir würden das Okuti jederzeit wieder besuchen, wenn wir wieder ins Moremi reisen.

Both Under Canvas Serengeti and Fanjove were exceptional. Firstly, they are both unparalleled in terms of their physical surroundings: following the wildebeest migration appears to be the surefire way to see lots of game in just a couple of days. After two full days we had “ticked off” our entire list – and were treated to even more exciting sightings on our last day. Fanjove is what you imagine a paradise island to look and feel like – and more. The villas at Fanjove are just stunning and make you feel like you’re staying at someone’s (amazing!) holiday home – not a hotel. The food and wine was also really outstanding. Both locations also have super professional and helpful staff who made us feel so welcome and showed genuine warmth and hospitality. Godwin, our guide, was as an absolute legend and has very big shoes to fill if we ever visit a safari location that he does not cover. He is a walking encyclopedia about the bush and its wildlife, but also smart, thoughtful and fun to be around. Would love to do the trip all over again several times if we could!

We recently used Nelson Travel for our honeymoon to Zimbabwe and the Seychelles and could not recommend them highly enough. Ben and Emma were excellent throughout, from planning a personalised itinerary to making sure everything ran seamlessly when we were away. Their attention to detail was spot on and they totally understood our brief, which led to an unforgettable trip.

We have just returned from the most incredible two weeks in Kenya and The Seychelles all thanks to Nelson Travel. As people that love to travel, we had very high expectations for this trip as it was our honeymoon but it surpassed every expectation we had! Ben and Emma were so incredibly helpful throughout the process, they are so efficient and quick to respond to any emails and offered us so much useful advice throughout the process. They are true experts in Africa (and I'm sure many other places!) and it was so lovely knowing we were in such safe hands. On the trip itself, they set up a WhatsApp group which was really useful for any last minute changes/ flight delays and they were always so quick to jump on anything we needed them to which we really appreciated. All of our transfers were amazing and we truly felt so looked after for our entire trip.
We have made memories to last a lifetime and the trip would not have been nearly as smooth and luxurious without the help of Ben and Emma. We really can't thank them enough and would recommend anyone to use Nelson Travel to book that special trip. We can't wait to travel through you guys again in the future!

Nelson Travel helped us plan our honeymoon to Africa this summer. We are both big world travellers and would usually plan trips ourselves, but since this going to be such a busy time we decided to involve the professionals – and we couldn’t be happier that we did!

Ben was incredibly friendly, enthusiastic and supportive from the very beginning. We went to him with some fairly vague ideas of what we wanted, and with his huge expertise (and personal experience with the locations) he was able to help us curate the trip of a lifetime. Even with us being unsure of different parts and going back and forth on different ideas, he came up with a range of different itineraries for us to choose from. Any changes we asked for were made quickly and with positivity. The itineraries were beautifully put together, with photos and information on all the different locations which really helped us to visualise where we would be going. All of the accommodation and transport booked were of a very high quality and exactly as described/pictured. The information about the different countries – visa info, weather, plugs, currencies etc – was also extremely helpful.

Once the itinerary was decided, Ben handed over to Emma who supported us through the rest of the planning process. Any questions we had were answered quickly and clearly and all of the booking information including flights, hotels etc were all given to us in a convenient Dropbox folder. Emma reminded us about visa requirements and any necessary documentation we needed to bring in advance as well.

Not only were the team fantastically supportive in planning our trip, but the support continued while we were away. Ben and Emma set up a WhatsApp group for us with all of our booking confirmations and itinerary handy, and offered their support if we had any questions along the way. As with any trip, some things didn’t go quite according to plan – we had one bag left behind by the airline, a flight was cancelled due to technical issues with the plane, and another flight was delayed. In all of these cases, Ben and Emma acted as liaisons with the airlines, doing all of the difficult work of tracking bags, contacting airlines about reschedules etc, so that we could go ahead and enjoy our trip without needing to make those phone calls. In the case of the delayed flight, they arranged an additional tour for us, so we were able to make the most of the extra few hours, much better than sitting in an airport lobby!

Another nice touch was that all of the carbon emissions from our trip were offset through a partnership with Root to Fruit. After our trip we received a certificate outlining how many trees were planted, and with the GPS location of where they are.

All in all, I couldn’t recommend Nelson Travel more. As I said, we would usually plan our trips ourselves, but after this experience we will definitely book with them again! Thank you all!

Ben Nelson Travel organised a special Safari holiday followed by a relaxing beach get away on a remote island in Kenya. His attention to detail was superb and all the flights transfers and hotels were excellent. The meet and greet staff were very friendly and helpful and dealt with all the check ins. We were even able to make late alterations to a dinner appointment at short notice without any problems simply superb can’t recommend this company highly enough. We will be travelling with them again.
