Great experience with the product, the PLEIO PUCK is great, would recommend!

I found the Pleio very easy to set up and I am very pleased with the picture and sound quality. However the microphone button when working is a great feature but it stops working and the only remedy is to unpair and set up again. This happens regularly and is very frustrating. A great addition would be the ability to jump 24 hours in the programme guide instead of endless scrolling backwards and forwards. On rare occasions when I choose a channel the screen goes black and the only remedy is a restart. Hopefully future software updates will solve these problems and improve the experience of watching Freely. One final question do owners of the Pleio puck get notifications of any software updates?

After using my Netgem PLEIO for approximately two weeks, I encountered a problem with the built-in Channel 4 streaming app just before Christmas 2025. The app was unable to play any on-demand content.

I called Netgem support on 12th January 2026 and explained the problem and sent some screen shots showing the error message. I received a reply within 30 minutes with a suggested workaround which involved clearing the cache in the app.

Implementing this suggestion fixed the problem and now the Channel 4 app works perfectly on the PLEIO, as do all the other apps and of course Freely.

The PLEIO has now been in daily use for one month and continues to work perfectly. So the Netgem PLEIO is an excellent device and is backed up with great support. Thank you Netgem.

I've already reviewed the Pleio once but wanted to update it. I installed a large update a few days ago after which my Freely channels switched from NW to London. I tried everything to reset it without any success and eventually had to do a factory reset. That worked and I was very careful to get my postcode correct when reinstalling. I now have additional apps, including Tidal, so I'm really pleased with my Pleio. I've briefly tried out a game which worked well, but I'm not into gaming really. Anyway, I'm now tending to use Freely more that Freesat because it's very convenient and I get excellent picture quality. I look forward to the extra channels arriving and see Freely as the future of TV.

Mostly fine

I wish it would go straight to the tv channels when you turn on , but instead it goes to the HOME button icon and you then need to move down to channels, but that’s a minor issue

My big criticism is the very short period of time you can pause the tv, ie 5 minutes , and then you can’t rewind or forward it afterwards and the biggest annoyance is when you do pause it when watching a show on the catch service like the bbc I player , it does not play again without logging out of the bbc I player and back in again, or the other streaming services like itv x, but a quick email to customer services meant they replicated the issue, and offered a quick fix of extending the screensaver time and an assurance it will be put forward for the next software upgrade.

It’s also hard to add an app to the Home Screen.

A few little glitches happen such as sound is lost for about two seconds quite often, and little niggles things like diverting to you tube channel sometimes , but these are rare, and again the customer services quickly tried to recover these issues by sending a replacement, but the sound issues still remain, albeit it seems less.

The customer service has been exemplary, with replies to emails in a day and a genuine commitment to fixing the problem

The freely app often gives a black screen or poor sound with a constant clicking. This happens when I turn it on after being in standby overnight. The other apps like netflix or iPlayer still work when this happens. Restarting the pleio fixes it, but a pain to do each time

Netgem PLEIO Puk is a fab addition to my home entertainment set up offering easy navigation between apps & live TV via internet, especially on older TV which aren't yet smart. As such portability is great & unobtrusive especially offering a wide range of gaming with excellent graphics.

This has the potential to be a really good (and useful) device. Unfortunately, it doesn't currently allow for sideloading which is a major drawback against alternative streaming devices.

Otherwise it works really well and is a good quality product with a simple user interface.

Just great concept! Unification of streaming entertainment.

Smooth, fluid interface with full Andriod TV functionality. Has everything you would ever need as someone watching TV. Overall just a great experience

Really handy and dinky freeview set. Games a bonus and the remote control. The best there is out there.

I was part of the PLEIO trail and delighted. Firstly, you feel the quality: The unit is well made, well-considered as an overall package and complete with a top quality remote and games controller; Secondly, the look and feel of the UI is up there, with a smooth, fast and intuitive Freely application standing out. Lastly, the games areas is a real differentiator: Perhaps they're not the most blockbusting titles as of yet, but for a casual gamer like myself there's lots to choose from and the experience does not obviously differ from console gaming. I can see these things flying off the shelves, so great job Netgem!!

The NetGem PLEIO has genuinely surprised me. I expected just another streaming puck, but it’s noticeably better than the usual smart TV apps and stick-style streamers. The real magic is the integrated Freely service. Flicking between live channels without hopping in and out of iPlayer, ITVX, or C4 feels like a breath of fresh air. I love the ability to pause, restart, or jump to previous episodes directly from a live channel makes everything feel seamless instead of glued together.A perfect blend of free tv and paid subscription services.

Now for my absolute favourite addition, built In cloud gaming! Yes you heard me right! A built in gaming system, pre loaded with so many games. Is it going to take me away from my Xbox completely, no, but it has been a great hit with the kids and it’s easy to hop on have a quick game. Nothing loading or downloading, it’s there ready to go. Some old favourites on there too! I was really amazed by the wide range of games available. No additional charge to play a game, it really is a fantastic addition!

Really good design fits nicely on my table. Apps are all there, and the games are fun and stream well. Loved the wrestling on channels+.

a superb blending together of Free to air and pay subscription streaming TV, with all the needed players; BBC iPlayer, Netflix, Prime Video, NowTV, Discovery /TNT Sports, YouTube and many more.
Fast, intuitive, and very engaging navigation, and all without the pain of having to connect an aerial.
Plus the games - who needs an Xbox??! Lovely merging with the TV content

As CTO at a UK Telecoms operator I have been testing this product with a view to bundling it with our internet and telephone services. I must confess to having been sceptical until I started to use it.

Would it really be any better than existing apps embedded into SmartTV's? Would it be any better than the myriad of other puck / stick / set top box based media streamers? The simple answer is.... yes!

At its heart it is an Andoid TV operating system, so all the usual functionality you'd expect from that is present and works well. However over and above this you have:

1) Embedded Freely App: Being able to seamlessly flick between linear TV channels via the embedded Freely service is a joy compared to the faff of launching iPlayer, ITVX, C4 app, C5 app etc. The Electronic Program Guide is intuitive and similarly works well. There is also a mini-guide when you're watching a live channel showing what is on next - and if you scroll to other channels (without launching them) you similarly get a mini-guide for now and next programmes. While watching a linear TV channel you can pause and resume the programme, re-start form the beginning or find previous episodes. i.e./ seamless integration between live TV and the individual channel apps that sit behing them such as iPlayer or ITVX.

2) Embedded Pleio Streaming Game Service: The Pleio cloud gaming service exceeded my expectations. Sure, it’s not the same experience as using my PS5 Pro, but I have to say that the quality of the games and graphics is impressive and the movement is smooth, and not laggy. I also don’t have to spend £25-£65 when I get bored of one game and want to try another.

Conclusion: Overall I am super-impressed - so much so that I'm now using it in my kitchen at home which does have an aerial connection but it's always been a bit flaky. The Netgem Puck means I can get a terrestrial TV experience over WiFi without having to replace the coax aerial connection that's embedded in the wall!

Excellent device, I love that I can now bring live entertainment with me to any TV. My kids loved the games too, it was a challenge to get them off to watch our shows!

The new Netgem Pleio device has truly exceeded my expectations. The platform is fast, intuitive, and really user-friendly. The interface is clean and responsive, and everything feels seamless — switching between channels, browsing programmes, or resuming content takes just seconds.

The range of content available is impressive, with a great mix of live channels, catch-up services, and additional apps all in one place. I really like the Gaming section too! Overall set up is very easy.
Definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a dependable and well-designed TV/streaming solution.
