Our Drymaster Piv unit has failed after…
Our Drymaster Piv unit has failed after 9 years. It still blows air at max speed but the controls are dead, possibly due to a power surge. Nuaire simply advise a total replacement unit. How green is that? No spares available though I am sure it will just be a circuit board. Now looking to an alternative manufacturer.
Terrible customer service
Terrible customer service
Didn’t arrive on the first appointment
Rescheduled with a note (their booking team wrote the note and made the promise) saying only available from XX time. Arrived one hour before this time, smoking at my door. When I said he is one hour early the “engineer” said what time was the appointment.
Got here and said it needs a replacement part - we asked how long that would take and he replied “meh, any amount of time really, I have to log it, they have to order it, you know it can be weeks or months depending on how long this takes”
Then he left
No end in sight and awful service
Disappointing design
Have the Nuaire Dri-Eco LC installed, it works but disappointed by the design. There’s no way to turn it off, not from the main switch panel and not even on the unit itself. I've climbed into the loft to check, and still found no off switch or clear way to disable it. It’s a basic function that should have been easy to include. For something installed in a home, this is just poor user design. It shouldn’t take rewiring or cutting power to stop a fan.
Terrible support and customer service
Terrible support and customer service. Had a PIV from Nuaire for 5 years, it resolved the issues with mold and poor air in my house in two weeks after I installed. But now the fan speed controller (hall control model) stopped working and stuck in maximum speed (6) which is too much for my bungalow especially in the winter. The issue is a tiny circuit board on the controller itself. Before I finish explaining the issue and see if we can get a replacement part, I was interrupted and told the solution was a brand new PIV. Well, sure it will be, but from other brand!
Nuaire recommend me to replace MVHR!
my MRXBOX95B-LP1 MVHR became noisy. After having it checked by a third-party engineer, I was told the motor bearing is worn. I then contacted Nuaire to ask for the motor model/detail so that I can find a replacement. Nuaire simply replied this MVHR model is obsolete and gave me a quote for ~£1500 for a new unit!
While I don't expect Nuaire to tell me the bearing model, I'd expect they can at least provide the motor detail (which by the way, is a Torin-Sifan MIB190-045 EC motor) so that I can find one myself online.
Nuaire’s recommendation to replace the entire ventilation system—at a cost of £1500+ (excluding labour)—simply due to a worn fan bearing, is not only financially unreasonable for customers but also reflects a troubling disregard for environmental sustainability. Encouraging the disposal of an otherwise functional system over a minor, repairable component is both wasteful and irresponsible. In a time when businesses should be championing repairability and resource conservation, it is disheartening to see a company of stature promoting such an unsustainable solution. I urge Nuaire to reconsider this practice and support more environmentally and customer-friendly options.
FYI, I managed to simply replace one NSK 608Z bearing myself, which costs less than £3 plus my time
Nuaire MVHR MRXBOX ECO-2 unit
Bearing in the fan caused failure. They charge £383 for one fan replacement. This does not include installation costs. Too expensive! It's better to get a similar 190 mm backward curve fan replacement on eBay for a quarter of the price!
Excellent tech and customer support
Have read the negative reviews but have to say my experience was not consistent with those experienced by others. My drimaster heat HC failed (not so good). I got prompt and concise technical email support but the unit was still dead. Discovered it was a month out of warranty but thanks to Ian at tech support Nuaire offered a straight replacement as a gesture of good will. Not having to spend on a replacement pretty much saved our Christmas at a time of financial pressures. Thank you.
Excellent service
Helped out a neighbour whose fan had stopped working. Quick call was answered by a person (yes!) and he established the unit was still 1 month inside the 2 year warranty.
Posted out a new unit straightaway which arrived the next day.
Aware of comments below, but my experience was top notch
Excellent customer service.
The customer service help desk were excellent. Our unit had a problem and via pics and email they diagnosed the problem. After a quick visit from an electrician to fix the faulty installation we were up and running.
Unit breaks so easily
Extract fan has gone on the unit already had multiple issues previously with the unit not working correctly. They've completely stopped doing parts for the unit so the only option you have is to replace the whole unit! Warranty has now been reduced to a much shorter period I imagine this is because the units break so easily. Everyone in my block of flats seems to be having to replace failing units! Tried to sell me a model up from what I needed which would have been £400 more. Overall I've just found the product really poor. It blows out freezing cold air constantly in the winter which I'm told it shouldn't be doing. If I have the same issues with this unit I definitely won't ever be using Nuarire again!
Appalling company
Appalling company. Had problems with our unit being ‘stuck’ on number 6.( still under 7 year warranty )After months of phone calls/ advise - try turning off, reseat cables etc we were told if we bought a new unit we could send old unit to nuaire if it was faulty they would refund us. Final phone call to customer service advised us warranty was invalid as we had not bought new unit from nuaire. At no time was this ever mentioned. Could not find a new unit on their website hence the reason we bought from elsewhere!
Social housing giant likes these units…
Social housing giant likes these units because its the cheaper option to thermal insulation which is recommended by @ "qualified Chartered" (RICS) building surveyors and in properties with severe cold wall bridges(no cavity) fitting fans meters above the target problem with 9ft cielingsso Nuiare indirectly is subject to solicitors damp disrepair compensation claimx2 and also noisy with running it at "off" is useless in a kids bedroom. predictibly this review will be countered by the suspicious great review lol..do the math!!!
If only more companies were like this
Noticed an odd connection hanging out when I removed a filter. Contacted support and quickly received an incredibly thorough response from Ian Whitehead explaining what I was seeing how it had happened and how I could resolve.
Very poor quality equipment and doesn’t last
In November 2022 my MVHR system started to make a loud noise; I called out an engineer from a local company who said I needed 2 x new fans. The fans were purchased from Nuaire and the cost with the callout and fitting came to around £1500. The fans started making a noise again at the end of Feb 2024 and the engineer said I needed two new fans again as well as a circuit board.
So after just 15 months the fans have failed; Nuaire were contacted in case there was a manufacturing problem but they wouldn’t do anything as it was outside the 1 year warranty period.
Yes this is their right in accordance with their T&C’s but if their equipment only lasts 15 months I would strongly advise staying away from them.
Way over priced but same for most brands
I've had a Flat master for a few years . Sadly just out of warranty. Easy to install and quiet but quite expensive especially when it stopped working and on inspection of the workings it's a very simple low consumption fan with a transformer. Something on the circuit board had blown and Nuaire doesn't supply replacements.
My main problem is that given the components, this is hugely over priced.
20 v fan and transformer in a box basically.
Unreliable product with short support.
The constructor of my purportedly "green" new build acquired and installed these ventilation units. However, I encountered a malfunction in one of the units immediately after the 5-year mark – conveniently following the expiration of the warranty. The builder procured them in 2016 but installed them in 2018. The manufacturer asserted that the warranty commenced upon the builder's purchase rather than upon installation and usage. This discrepancy represents yet another exploitative element to be mindful of.
Upon reaching out to the company, their indifferent response proposed a complete replacement, citing an unwillingness to supply new parts. Remarkably, the critical components, the fans, were not only defective but purportedly irreplaceable – a metaphorical unicorn in the realm of practicality. It epitomizes hypocrisy to affix an "environmentally friendly" label only to discard the unit within a mere six years. These companies flaunt their green credentials akin to peacocks, yet it's nothing more than a deceptive charade.
Contrastingly, my aged boiler, a stalwart from the 1970s, dutifully served until 2010, with available parts attesting to its enduring functionality. When soliciting their assistance to evaluate the situation, their audacious suggestion was a company demanding an exorbitant £400 merely for the privilege of inspecting the unit. And this could not be scheduled for 3 weeks as they were busy. This egregious pricing amounts to daylight robbery. Trustpilot should consider revising their rating system to accommodate a resounding zero for companies displaying absolute ineptitude – precisely what this deceptive entity merits.
Bad products and bad service
Purchased a new build where this had been fitted by the builder to be green. ventilation unit has gone wrong just after 5 years and just out of warranty. Spoke to the firm they said that item needs to be replaced as they are not supplying new parts. also said that the fans were know to be faulty and can't be replaced. Not very green to be junked just after 5 yrs. Firms such as this trade on thei green credentials but it's all fake. My old boiler was 20 years old in old place and still got parts and serviceable. asked them for a call out to see and the recommendation was a firm that wants £400 just to see it.
We've had one for 16 years
We've had one for 16 years, no problems with it at all. It made a substantial difference to our house, with no condensation or dampness since the install.
Not as good as they were
Had a unit from this company for many years without a problem, I Emailed them to ask which modern unit would be an exact replacement for my old one.
My Email has been ignored and looking at the reviews of late it seems the company is not what it used to be.
I will be looking at other makes.
We have Nuaire MVHR MRXBOX ECO-2 unit
We have Nuaire MVHR MRXBOX ECO-2 unit. We had a fan failure within a year.
I don't consider Nuaire products to be durable with issues coming up in such a short duration. Furthermore, labour warranty is only 1 year. If the company knows its products are not durable, they should offer labour warranty for 5 years as well.
