The fake $24 promotion
I am writing to address a discrepancy regarding my gym subscription with Orange Theory Fitness in Sodo Orlando. On January 24th I enrolled in the $24 monthly subscription plan through messaging without signing any physical contract or visiting the gym in person.
Recently, I contacted your customer service to cancel my membership due to relocating to One Pass. During this call, I was informed that I would be required to pay a cancellation fee of $179, a condition which I was not informed of at the time of subscription. I have kept a record of this conversation.
Furthermore, there is no documentation or communication provided to me that stipulates a requirement for a 30-day notice for cancellation, nor any mention of a penalty fee for failure to provide such notice.
I respectfully request a copy of the recording in which your representative states that I agreed to these terms. If this recording is not provided, I will be forced to take legal action to address this matter.
I appreciate your prompt attention to this issue and look forward to your response.
Orange Theory Kingston MA stay away!
I am writing about the Orange Theory in Kingston MA how the owner and the facility is an embarrassment to the fitness organization. I was wrongly suspended and my personal items kept and thrown out. In my opinion I would avoid the Kingston MA location. She ruined a great concept and could careless about alpha male members loves her Karen’s.
Organized theft
June 2023 I had a knee injury. I didn’t freeze my account for a week thinking I would get better, but it was worse than I thought. So I then requested a Month freeze until end of July. I still was not ready to get back to these workouts so I was told I can do a three month freeze and finish up the rest of my month that I couldn’t complete, and “I get a free month when I get back.” Then I notice I was charged almost $200 in July to pay for that “free” month when I get back in October. I REALLY really don’t like liars and swindlers. This is cheating, and dishonest! There wasn’t even a guarantee that I would be able to come back if I had to do some other therapy. So why pay for something that I won’t get regardless? That’s THEFT! Orange Theory Ridgefield connecticut was great except their sneaky fees and unwarranted charges, because it’s simply “their policy”. Just because there’s a policy, it doesn’t always make it RIGHT in many circumstances. I find it very unfair they would take money from people the DISHONEST way. This organization has lost my trust, which could have been avoided if they handled my situation fairly and honestly. I’d like to get my money back for something I never agreed to because this is not right! Shame on you Ridgefield OTF!!
Too much Pride indoctrination
Enjoy the workouts. Not enjoying Pride Month. Feels like a religion. A month of forced “celebration” for sexual perversions. No thanks. Time to find a new gym.
Great Sales People - Horrible Customer Service
My daughter attended a class at the local Orange Theory with a group from her school, and while there, she spoke with the manager. My daughter informed them that she attends school in another part of town, and they assured her that it was not an issue and that she could take classes at any Orange Theory location. Additionally, they informed her about the 30-day quit-free guarantee, stating that if she did not enjoy the classes after 12 visits, she could cancel her membership.
After attending a few classes, my daughter did not enjoy the experience but decided to continue to complete the 12 classes. Upon completing the 12th class, she attempted to refund her membership, but Orange Theory informed her that she had voided her quit-free guarantee because she did not complete all 12 classes at the same location where she signed up. Although my daughter takes responsibility for not reading the fine print, it is concerning that the manager did not inform her of this detail, especially since they discussed the possibility of attending classes at other locations. After speaking with management, she agreed it was her own doing for not getting the refund of $80.00 however she has been charged an additional $160.00 for the following month because she did not cancel her membership 30 days in advance. It seems unreasonable to expect her to cancel her membership before completing the required 12 classes to fulfill the 30-day quit-free guarantee.
Despite explaining the situation to the manager, she did not show any concern or willingness to address the issue.
It is VERY disappointing that Orange Theory seems to prioritize monetary gain over customer satisfaction.
Not accommodating of different exercise needs
I have been going to OTF in South Beach, Miami and NYC for 3 years now. I originally liked it a lot because it gave me a consistent workout in an hour. Lately, besides the bike I use for tread because of knee problems and addressing a shoulder injury, I have been unable to do at least 1/2 of the workout because rather than being a mix of abs and upper body, everything is upper body, with shoulder presses above the head, being difficult for my torn rotator cuff. Today was the last straw, as the "catch me if you can" did not adhere to HIIT policies of going up and down in heartrate--it was just a continuous going hard and I was continually in the red zone with my HR. My whole reason for doing HIIT is for cardiodynamic conditioning--teaching my body to bring down my HR on a consistent basis and within the time frame before again accelerating. This exercise of contnuously going hard does not achieve that and, moreover, I think it's dangerous. Pair this with lack of towels at this session in South Beach caused me to just give up and cancel my membership altogether.
fake info by sales staff
Your sales staff said first free trial lesson. I couldn't go to the trial class at 09.30 am because I woke up with a migraine headache.Your company took 28-USD from my husband's credit card in the same day without our approval, without even a phone call, for the trial lesson that they advertised for free. The trial lesson is not an individual sport, but the use of the machines in the gym. therefore, there is no institutional loss for them. While I was planning to go at the available time, when I saw that money was withdrawn in this way, I came to the conclusion that it was an unreliable company. I will definitely not surrender my health to such a company.
In February me and my wife subscribed…
In February me and my wife subscribed the OT program at East Boca Raton Unit. On the sales pitch we were told we could use gyms around the country and Canada, including Vancouver and New York the places we would move in March and April, leaving Boca Raton for good. They were really bold on that, and it seemed awesome for us.
So we used 1 month in Boca and went to Canada. For our surprise, Canada units have the same same but DO NOT accept subscriptions from US. So, all credits me and my wife had could not be used there. We froze our memberships and after a month we moved to NYC. For our surprise again, you can only use NYC's gyms if you pay a fee of almost twice the subscription plan, because they are like prime locations.
Then, I requested a cancellation for our plan and a refund of unused credit (in fact i paid 3 months and used 1). We had several discussions through the phone and we were not able to get any cent back.
So, on sales pitch, everything seems nice and amazing (not to mention we were told we could use OT's heart monitor, but nobody tells you it costs $15 per class until you go to 2nd class). Besides that really bad way of doing business - LYING AND FOOLING YOU - they have very bad customer care and no empathy at all.
