The whole tour from the pre-trip preparations to the guidance offered throughout is top-notch! Guillaume is clearly a really nice guy, and loves his work. It's helpful that he clearly loves snorkelling and aquatic life. I would repeat any time!

Wonderful snorkel in the Red Sea! The tour leader Guillaume organized this tour very well…very responsive before, during and after. Guillaume is very knowledgeable about the fish of the Red Sea and helped everyone identify the things they wished to know about. The pretrip at a resort was excellent…be sure to take advantage of the house reef with early morning snorkels, because we saw things there in shallow water that were not easy to see at the reef. The boat was also excellent in many ways: great food (including a special bakery chef!), helpful staff, and snorkel guides. One of us needed extra help, and the guides were patient and willing to go the extra mile for him. The dolphin house was an experience that will last a lifetime…swimming with spinner dolphins wild and free. The boat could use a bit of improvement in comfort of beds and room temperature. Also, the emergency exit seemed inadequate if there should be a fire.

Guillaume answered all our questions. He was calm, not control freak.

Cette semaine sur le bateau est une super expérience qui permet de profiter de 3 à 4 sorties snorkeling par jour ! Le format à 24 personnes est idéal : c'est plus intime et cela facilite vraiment les partages. Mon seul bémol concerne le vent, qui rend parfois les sorties un peu moins ludique. C'était notre deuxième fois que nous participons à cette expérience et ce ne sera certainement pas ladernière !

We had a fantastic trip! Starting at the resort with its beautiful house reef was a great choice by Guillaume and a perfect beginning.

Guillaume was warm, attentive, and very knowledgeable about marine life. On Sea Serpent Excellence, the whole crew was friendly, cheerful, and helpful. Mustafa and Amid did a great job guiding the English-speaking group in the water.

Seeing dugongs and dolphins was unforgettable, and the photos Guillaume shared were a wonderful bonus.

A great Red Sea experience with a really lovely team — we would happily go again!

Tout est mis en œuvre pour nous permettre de découvrir une faune marine exceptionnelle. Remerciements particuliers à Guillaume, notre Tour leader, pour sa disponibilité, sa patience et sa bienveillance. Un séjour à recommander +++.

Excellent for snorkellers enthousiastics!

This was a mixed experience.

The plus points:

1) Having so many snorkelling opportunities! As a group we wanted to be in the water early and after the first day we were usually in the sea by 7.30am. This was easily the best snorkel of the day in terms of creatures and visibility. Some snorkels, especially in the afternoons, were a little dull, but the sheer number of snorkels meant we saw a lot overall.

2) The food was terrific and abundant, more than I expected from a ship. A whole roast turkey was unveiled on the last night!

3) The crew were very friendly and helpful.

4) The hotel where we stayed for the first night had a great house reef with all the usual Red Sea fish, including a scorpion fish.

5) Guillaume was a genial host and gave an excellent short lecture on Red Sea fish.

Less happy moments:

1) The guiding was not quite what I expected from other trips. In essence there was little difference between a guided group and an unguided one. Guides carried a safety ring which hampered them spotting and pointing out sea creatures. (Incidentally Guillaume was good at this, but he was one person amongst 24.) The groups became confused and spread out and appeared difficult to manage.

2) The crew were well prepared for sickness and diarrhoea with suitable Egyptian products - and they were necessary. I cannot say how many people were affected, but be alert to the possibility and take what's on offer. It works.

Overall I am not convinced that a liveaboard is a better experience than a land-based holiday - but views differ! The Makadi Bay house reefs (we returned to a different hotel after the trip) were as good as any coral we explored from the boat, although without dolphins obviously. The movement of the boat when it was choppy and windy was off-putting, and of course there was not much space. But if you like boats, this trip would not disappoint.

A great trip to the Red Sea aboard Sea Serpent Excellence. Ten days travelling up and down the coast from Marsa Alam and snorkelling maybe 40 times in total. FORTY! Reefs, fish, dugong, turtles and dolphins. The lot!

I didn’t love this trip. The snorkeling was ok at best. Not great visibility or diversity of undersea life. The guides on Sea Serpent did nothing to promote safety or point out sea life. They just seemed to be there to hold a life preserver if anyone needed it. At one point the boat started to pull away when two snorkelers were still in the water.

Our Egypt Red Sea snorkeling trip was amazing! The resort before we boarded the sea serpent was great. It had wonderful reefs to snorkel. We had a delicious group dinner the night before we boarded. Transferring onto the boat was seamless. Every detail was covered! The crew was so helpful and the food....oh gracious! It was amazing. ON A BOAT! Certainly didn't expect that. 3 meals a day and a wonderful snack bar each afternoon. The snorkeling.....we went to many sights. A few coral reefs were sadly dying but there was no lack of fish everywhere! Every color of the rainbow! I felt safe too as we snorkeled, as there were guides in the water and a zodiac boat that stayed close by if someone needed help or wished to go back early. Moving from one snorkel site to another was challenging at times because of the current, but the crew had motion sickness meds and first aid if needed. I felt well cared for and the fish and coral were just amazing.

Fabulous snorkel only live aboard in Egypt. The trip was well thought through and planned by Guillaume with opportunities to snorkel up to four times a day and experience magical encounters with Dugong, dolphins and an abundance of other marine life and coral. We had great fun getting to know other guests on board and there was lots of fun and laughter. The crew and snorkel guides were brilliant and we were very well looked after. Big thanks Guillaume, we look forward to the next trip 🐠

The trip was very well organised from start to finish. Guillaume's attention to detail was excellent and the snorkeling locations and experiences we experienced have left us with many wonderful memories we'll treasure forever more!

Since this was first liveaboard snorkeling trip, I was a bit nervous about it at first, but our tour leader Guillaume from Planet Snorkeling and the wonderful cure on Sea Serpent excellence went above and beyond to make me feel safe, comfortable, and welcome! The various reefs we snorkeled on in the Red Sea were simply breathtaking and I saw many species of fish, corals, and other marine life i’ve seen nowhere else (and i’ve been snorkeling & scuba diving in places all over the world for over 45 years now. The food aboard the boat was delicious and plentiful and my cabin was perfectly cool and comfortable and that’s definitely a plus in a hot climate!!! All and all…it was a magnificent trip and i’d recommend it to anyone that loves to snorkel!!!

The most wonderful holiday snorkelling with dolphins, turtles and the Red Sea fish, visiting a sandy island a trip of a life time too. The food on the boat was excellent and it was a lovely boat. A brilliant holiday. Would definitely recommend.

We discovered Planet Snorkeling Expeditions a couple of years ago and so far have been on four trips with them. Next year will be number five. That should say something.
The website is informative, the booking process is simple and the fee-structure is transparent. The write ups have been very accurate both in terms of the snorkeling trips you will go on during your stay and the accommodation you will stay in. The choice of locations has been superb and selected with great care and attention to detail. The guides provided by Planet Snorkeling as well as the in-country guides have been nothing short of top-notch with an incredible depth of knowledge and a true affinity for marine life. The groups are an ideal size: not too big, not too small and made up of people who come from all over the world to take part.
For anyone from those who may be new to snorkeling to seasoned veterans, Planet Snorkeling will, consistently, provide you with truly memorable snorkeling experiences.

We love Planet Snorkeling because they do snorkeling trips so well. Their selection of snorkeling resorts, organization of trips including pre and post itinerary were all great. The cost was very reasonable. Guillaume was wonderful. He took care of everyone, was respectful, responsible and most of all, a snorkeling enthusiast. Guillaume takes great photos underwater and I love that he shares the photos with the fish's name. he was a joy to be with. We went to Wakatobi, Galapagos, Belize and Misool with them and were very happy each time. We look forward to another trip soon!

A fabulous time spent exploring the beautiful Rajah Ampat with Planet Snorkeling Expeditions. Our tour leader made the whole experience stress free, from start to finish.  Papua Explorers was a great place to stay with friendly staff, delicious food and great accommodation. The snorkeling was next level - clear warm water, teeming with fish and brightly colored corals. Highly recommend!
