Greed took over.
Those of us who have been around a while remember what plex was.
I never bought plex back in the day but then bought a lifetime pass through covid as the netflix promise expired but I never checked in to see what plex had become, if I had I may have gone with one of its spiritual successors.

Modern plex is a shadow of its former self, greed now means full of adverts with the hook of "free content".

I want non of that and turn it all off but anyone else I introduce to plex is now struggling to find what they want in a sea of garbage.

Its a sad end to a great project.

It could be saved but unfortunatly I think it will need to burn in the fires of hell first and then hopefully once the vultur capitalists have list interest it might be saved and rise from the ashes.

The app still works and is well supported but its been destroyed by those at the top.

Horrible, longest commercials, mostly promoting gambling! No other channels have as many commercials, and they're up to 3 minutes, ridiculous!

Like most of the other reviewers I agree that the free option has way too many commercials It has more commercial time than program viewing time. I'm only watching right now as I'm binge watching a particular series. Otherwise I would not choose it as one of my go-to streaming options

I didn't use PLEX for the television channels it offers, because we didn't find them at all impressive. I used it as a media server solution to organise our personal videos and music libraries. I've also got a lifetime licence.

It used to work very well. At one point there were problems and the PLEX technical people helped to solve these.

Now the PLEX app doesn't find the media server. I did all I could to resolve this, but without success. So I got in touch with PLEX. Or I tried. One can only send mails to PLEX billing, there's now no technical help directly by mail. I got this answer:

While it is true that our Plex Technical Support Team does not do e-mail support, it does not mean they do not provide any technical support.

You can reach them directly by creating your own post in their Plex Technical Forum. From there they and our helpful community will be able to answer you directly.

Please create your own post with the relevant details so our Plex Technical Support Team and community members can assist. You can also find additional technical resources and documentation at (no links allowed in reviews).

But everything used to work very well. And now it doesn't. And creating a post is just too much of a hassle. I only ever used PLEX because of my own media, never because of what PLEX might offer, which I don't like.
So I'll just find a different way of doing it.
I do have a lifetime licence, but as I said, it's just too much of a hassle.

To say I like the app, but can't have one, due to hackers and others getting in. I get blocked using the app. I have attempted 5 accounts. But going to stop now! Because I tried having it! I started with Plex for years now, along with other apps. But it is a good service, also affordable!I even think they are better then Netflix and Prime!

I hope that Plex does not lose customers because I am a customer they lost of others hacking my account. I have these issues with similar things in my life. That is what is horrible.

I had them apps for years now, since I started getting tablets. Before that DVDs and cassettes tape for the VCR. But a streaming service offers it!

Believe me it is good app! I have no complaints about the app and it's fee. And it gives complimentary viewing too. But good to do the fee because it is worth the fee.
I was going to get a credit card but won't be using the service anymore.

I’m convinced that there’s a bunch of rags and old dirty socks sitting around the boardroom table wherever this Gong Show pile of garbage app is run. Whoever is setting this up and managing this streaming service is beyond incompetent and useless and good for nothing. They’ve obviously never used their own app and probably don’t even know how. This is the biggest pile of garbage and there isn’t a single endearing feature about it. A whole bunch of great shows we could be watching, but you can’t watch them… you just get to look at the cover and you can click on it. You can click on a whole bunch of stuff. But not a goddamn thing happens because this is garbage. This is exactly the kind of thing that people should not be allowed to do. This is the kind of app that people should not only have taken down, but somebody should go to the place where this app is being made verbally berate every single employee and kick them all out and make sure they’re never allowed to make apps ever again. This is a perfect example of the kind of mindless useless good for nothing in confidence. People have to navigate just to try and not get ripped off. Just garbage. Despicable disgusting useless, deplorable garbage and I’m not just describing the app, I’m describing every single person involved in making it.

German is the 12th most widely spoken language in the world.
Why on earth did they make the ridiculous decision to prioritise German over French for Alexa skill? A lack of judgement?
Why has Plex been unable to release a skill on the French store for the past eight years? Do Plex’s programmers need to learn how to code? I can give them lessons if necessary ; contact me.

OMG seriously how do i delete my account???? i literally browsed for 10 mins, realised the whole thing was bull and not only do they totally rope you in but NOTHING Google says about plex is helpful to my situation. All of its dated, the words "delete account" is nowhere to be found on the site and they are complete liars. Don't even have any contact info. Hey asshats, LOSE MY ACCOUNT PLEASE

I found that everything i search for isn't available regardless of how new or old. Wishlist is useless. I deleted my account as Plex is rubbish.

If you are going to read any of the bad reviews regarding this website/app than read this one. I never go out of my way to write my own review on anything but this site is genuinely so bad, that I had to do something about it. First of all, me and my family have been using this site to watch movies we download from uTorrent etc. for the longest time and it had a point for like 6 months to a year were it worked pretty good. Well, since than I tried using it countless times and it never fails to disappoint. Always having playback issues, and I tried fixing it with everything and anything. Movie randomly stops, or doesn’t even load in in the first place. The only way I can describe this, is a pain in the a**. It actually pisses me off, that I tried to watch a movie with my mom yesterday, it stopped 3 times where we had to wait like 5 minutes each time untill the sh*tty site remembered what its porpoise is. We stopped halfway because it was getting late and tried continuing tonight, but the movie did not even start. Every single time for the past year when I used this site me or my mom got mad at it, and thats enough said. It’s genuinely easier to just mirror the screen of a computer to the tv or something. NEVER use this site, its REALLY REALLY bad.

The new app was already a disgrace (even more so for those with a lifetime PlexPass) that treated users like beta testers… But now, a few months later, after a few updates that fixed some issues, they’ve backtracked with an app that simply crashes when you try to fast-forward or rewind a video, keyboard navigation that no longer works (space bar), the interface overlaps the battery indicator at the top of the screen, making it impossible to use the trackpad (mouse), and LiveTV is still just an horrible experience with multiple bugs and crashes (hdhomerun). Anyway… For those who paid top dollar, it really stings to have an app that’s practically unusable and riddled with bugs.
It would be nice if the Plex team would stop treating people like idiots and finally provide a usable app (like the old one), since they forced us to switch to this new one.

I'm watching my first movie on Plex. Am so disappointed that every 10 minutes ads appear for a duration of 2 1/2 minutes, and they are the same ads. Really frustrating. I'm not going to make use of it again. I'll stay with Tubi, it's a much more friendly experience, only one ad for 30 seconds. Goodbye Plex!

I create an account thinking that I could watch any movie or new releases with ads but when I click on the "watch" button, my page refreshes and asks me to upgrade my account to watch premium channels/features by avoiding to watching ads. Not paying $60 per month to watch something with ads. Plex TV is a fake and illegitimate company. Nice try!

Plex is so full of ADs it is too annoying to watch anything. They are the worst streaming company out there. Forget them. They are useless.

8-10 ADS (the same) each break - 2 min 30 sec - 3 min

Absolutely useless. I have all the necessary hardware, downloaded all the necessary .exe files .... just won't install. Tried everything including re-starting, clearing cache and re-installing. Just plain won't work. What a waste of time !

Promises so much, but delivers so little

Terrible service, played 5-6 long ads every 8 min and when I just lightly tapped the screen it would pop up the same sign that asked if I would download the app or continue in browser and when I tapped continue in browser it made me play all the ads I just watched again and wouldn’t save my time and progress. 2/10 WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.
