Pmt lied to make as many sales as possible before closure

I brought a bass from pmt just before they went into administration didn't know they where going into administration at time of purchase, was 2nd hand it turned up completely unplayable and with alot more damage that was not noted on the pmt site I got repairs to the bass a member of pmt offered me a partial refund at that point I do have email proof and as soon as pmt went into administration they never responded even though they'd offered a partial refund absolute joke of a company and refusing to fix many issues they had before administration, they'd obviously lied about guitar conditions to make as many sales before closure as possible.

Always a great service

I didn't end up keeping the unit - a B-stock Yamaha DM3 mixer - as the workflow was too basic and it would ideally need a Dante to make it worthwhile at all.

PMT's returns service was fantastic and they were a pleasure to deal with. I have bought from them before, a Squier Bass IV and another mixer and the guys in the Old St shop and on the phone are always easy-going and knowledgeable.

Regarding PMT going into…

Regarding PMT going into administration. I was fortunate enough to have been contacted by a thoughtful and caring member of the Birmingham site staff. I had ordered and paid for a Hercules five guitar stand and having waited for approximately five weeks,the staff member contacted me and said that they were having trouble getting my order. He said I could hang on for my order or they could refund my money which he seemed to encourage me to do. So, due to this I did have a refund and two days later we all know what happened!

Spoke to Ali , he was such a great guy , and checked the unit over for me before sending it to me . Arrived , splendidly packaged , and the unit works perfectly and now sits in my studio . Great job guys , Thanks

Absolutely rubbish shop, corrupt practices, reducing margins or selling at a loss to put independents out of business ready to mop up the consumer when they do….how did that work out for you 😂😂

Another Great Music Shop Silenced by Corporate Greed

Fabulous retailer who offered exceptional customer service and genuine care for musicians. I’m truly sad to see you go.

Your closure feels like another symptom of a failing industry .. one where passion and expertise are being replaced by volume sales and corporate control.

Music is vital to human emotion, health, growth and well-being .. yet it’s being steadily marginalised by large corporations who exploit once-trusted brand names as VIP passes to sell sub-standard products and feed shareholder profit rather than creativity.

Independent retailers like yours were the beating heart of real music culture .. their loss diminishes everyone who values authenticity over marketing.

Ordered a sub that was due to be in…

Ordered a sub that was due to be in stock, was informed by customer service that it would be delayed. Then later informed it was delayed again. So eventually cancelled and got it elsewhere.

So a shame I couldn’t get the item from them but customer service kept me updated and were polite and responsive.

Return stolen by company

I had a mixer returned to them in April. Still chasing getting it back almost 3 months later. No replies can’t get through to customer service etc on phone and no email replies. They have basically stolen the mixer on me.

I didnt receive my order

I ordered an electric guitar on 28.05.25. It was supposed to be delivered on 30.05.25 but it was not. When I contacted the company, they told me that they would ship it again, it's been almost a month but I still haven't received my order. I will complain to #citizensadvice.org.uk, I want my money back. Don't order from here, they don't care.

What has happened to PMT?
The company has entered insolvency and appointed insolvency practitioners. Certain assets, including some stock, branding, and websites, have been sold to Gear4music Limited. The original company, however, still legally exists and remains responsible for its liabilities, but may not have funds to meet them.

Gear4music has purchased certain stock, together with certain intangible assets including websites and trademarks from the Administrators of PMT.

For clarity, Gear4music is not acquiring any part of PMT's trading business, nor any other assets or liabilities, and has no current plans to use the PMT trading name.

For the Music Community
The closure of PMT will be felt across the music community. It’s a change that will be felt not only by customers, but by the people behind the brand – and across the wider music community that PMT served for many years.

Like many of you, we were saddened to hear the news. Over the years, we’ve worked alongside the same suppliers, shared industry spaces, and even welcomed a few former colleagues into our team. This moment affects many people – and our thoughts are with everyone impacted.
