We spent a long time going back and forth between getting a traditional swimming pool or a natural swim pond for the garden. Spoke to a few companies around Leicestershire and most of them felt like they were just trying to close a sale. Michael Wheat Group were different. They actually listened to what we wanted and were honest about what would and wouldn't work with the space and soil conditions we had.
From the initial consultation right through to the finished swim pond design and build, the whole thing felt well managed. They talked us through how the biological filtration system works compared to a chlorine pool and helped us understand the long term running costs. No pressure, just straight answers.
The pond construction itself went about as smoothly as you could hope for with an outdoor project this size. They kept us updated throughout, turned up when they said they would, and the landscaping around the pond was finished to a really high standard. The water quality has been excellent since it filled and the natural filtration has kept everything clear without us having to do much at all.
One thing that sold us early on was how much thought they put into making the swim pond maintenance as simple as possible. They explained what we'd need to do seasonally and set the system up so it practically looks after itself. A few weeks after the installation was completed we had a couple of questions about the upkeep and they got back to us the same day. Aftercare has been solid.
Would happily recommend them to anyone in the UK thinking about a swim pond or garden pond project.

Very helpful information. Having looked after a good sized pond in our garden for 4 years now, in place when we moved here, we have not had any Heron related issues until last weekend....
now seeking solutions of a more friendly vein to other wildlife especially the many birds that visit the pond, an old metal ladder has helped as a visible barrier on a temporary basis.
Not sure about reference to Herons being predated by Owls and Crocodiles, though I have seen some of the former here in Dorset.
