Truly outstanding experience at the QUBE Events NextGen Payments & RegTech Forum, hosted at the iconic W Hotel Barcelona.

What stood out immediately was the format and atmosphere. Compared to many larger, more corporate-heavy conferences, this one was intentionally small, relaxed, and extremely high-signal. The networking dynamic felt very different: merchants and providers weren’t siloed into separate worlds — everyone was naturally mingling, conversations flowed easily, and there was a genuine openness to connect.

The size of the event was, in my view, perfect. It created that rare sweet spot where you could meaningfully speak to a large share of attendees across all seniority levels without anything feeling rushed or transactional.

In fact, it reminded me much more of the MRC Barcelona style of event than the much larger, more sprawling Money20/20 Europe or even MPE Berlin — more curated, more intimate, and significantly higher quality in terms of actual conversations per hour.

The content was also genuinely strong, particularly the sessions on agentic AI and the future of payments, as well as stablecoins and their role in the evolving payments infrastructure. These weren’t superficial buzzword panels — they were grounded, relevant discussions that clearly reflected where the industry is heading.

I was invited as a speaker, but I would absolutely recommend attending as a ticket holder. The value is not just in the agenda — it’s in the quality of conversations, the density of the ecosystem, and the ease of meeting the right people. The lunch and post-event drinks also extended the discussions naturally in a very relaxed setting.

Everything was extremely well executed: great venue choice at the W Hotel Barcelona, smooth organisation, and a genuinely friendly and engaged QUBE Events team.

Special mention to Lilly Pavlou for the invitation and for putting together such a well-balanced and thoughtfully curated event.

Overall, one of those rare events that gets the balance right between content, networking, and atmosphere.
