Multiple failures within a short pe

We installed a new Qvantum EQ6 in March 2025. We had to call the installer four times. Each time, he changed the fuse and the control board. During the waiting periods (often 1–2 days), we did not have hot water, and the house was cold.

The vapor that turns into water drains under the machine. I’m affraid it’ll oxidize. This causes a pool of water to form in the laundry room. Why didn’t they think about this important/necessary detail? I hope they update/repair that.

We are sorry to read about the difficulties you have encountered following the installation of your Qvantum heat pump. Repeated failures, multiple call-outs, and periods without heating or hot water are understandably distressing, and this is not the experience we want any customer to have.

We would like to clarify that your review is the first time these issues have been brought to our attention. We have not received any prior contact from the installer, nor from yourselves, regarding repeated fuse or control board replacements, extended system downtime, or concerns around condensate management.

Your heat pump was installed and commissioned by an independent installer, who is responsible for the installation quality, fault diagnosis, and correct system design — including electrical protection, commissioning checks, and proper condensate drainage. If components were repeatedly replaced without resolving the root cause, this would indicate that further investigation at installation level was required.

Condensate drainage is a known and essential aspect of heat pump installation and, when installed correctly, should not result in water pooling or risk of damage within the property. This should have been addressed during installation and commissioning.

We have no record of supplying the fuses and control boards you mention to any UK based installer and in fact can confirm there are no QE6 units installed here in the UK at the time of responding. Can you confirm this is a UK based installation..?

We take this feedback seriously and would welcome the opportunity to review the situation with both the installer and our technical team.

Qvantum Excellence

We had our Nibe heat pump replaced with a Qvantum late last year. Our energy bills have reduced by a massive amount.

We had a small technical problem related to our flat, not the pump itself. The Qvantum team were excellent in diagnosing and resolving the issue. Their manner with customers is first rate, they didn’t rest until everything was fully resolved.

Cannot recommend the heat pump and the company highly enough. If there were six stars, I would use that rating.

Honest Review

I’ve just managed a project where we had five Qvantum QE units installed. While there were a few minor teething issues during installation (carried out by a third-party contractor), my experience with Andy at Qvantum has been excellent. He’s been incredibly attentive and quick to address any concerns we’ve raised, including making multiple site visits to ensure the systems were properly set up. I can’t comment on the running costs as I don’t live in the flats, but from all reports, they’re proving to be highly efficient units and I wouldn’t be surprised if they become increasingly popular across the UK in the coming years.

My Qvantum air heat pump was installed…

My Qvantum air heat pump was installed by a different company last year. Everything went well but we had two issues afterwards which Billy resolved for us very efficiently and professionally. Initially it was difficult to adjust the heating and with the software update he resolved it straight away. Subsequently there was intermittent hot water which he could see remotely it was not an issue with the heat pump. Nevertheless he came himself and de aired the system and everything has been functioning perfectly since. Furthermore he showed me how to de air it in the future and left me the specific screwdriver need. In my experience there are always teething issues with new systems and software but the crucial point is the availability and willingness of the contractor to visit and solve the problem. In this situation most of the issues can be resolved remotely because of the monitoring but Billy also came to fix the problem. I certainly would highly recommend Billy and the Quantum team and would use them again.

Qvantum QE Exhaust air heat pump, DO NOT BUY.

Qvantum QE Exhaust air heat pump, DO NOT BUY.
With our old system we never had any issue in regards of hot water or heating, but after almost 20 years, I replace my existing NIBE Exhaust air heat pump with the Qvantum QE. Since the new Qvantum QE Exhaust air heat pump has been installed in my flat I have been living in a sort of nightmare with unlimited problems as described below.
Problems:
1) No enough hot water for a bath.
2) No options to set temperature in different time of the day, e.g. Day/Night.
3) Property temperature constant during day/night.
4) No option to switch off the heating if no needed.
5) Higher energy cost than expected.
6) Limited support from technical staff to resolve/improve comfort.
During the long life of our old system we managed to reach a balance between comfort and system efficiency. Our heating ideal comfort settings for the winter time were as follow:
Between 08:00am until 10:30pm we kept the flat temperature at 21 degrees.
From 10:30pm until 05:00am heating were excluded unless the flat temperature fall below 17 degrees (minimum floor temperature).
From 05:00am until 08:00 the flat temperature was set to rise 1 degree per hour.
The Qvantum QE statement state that is all about the people.
The Qvantum QE state “instantaneous hot water production”, statement which we have found to be misleading, since we installed The Qvantum QE we are unable to have a hot bath, as the water come just warm and not hot enough to fill-up a single bath, we are forced to boil hot water from the Kettle, which is not cost effective as we need to use a large amount of energy to be able to have the hot bath we used to have. Qvantum QE – Exhaust air heat pump.
Qvantum QE – Exhaust air heat pump have the following statement “meet the comfort demands of the home”, which we expect that system is built around the people who use the The Qvantum QE and not vice-versa, again we found this statement misleading.
Since the Qvantum QE Exhaust air heat pump was installed we had a number of problems which are still unresolved.
When the system was installed, on Friday, we suffered almost the whole week-end without heating as the system was wrongly installed.
When the next Monday the installer returned to complete the installation, the system was not responding and even if the comfort temperature was set at 21 degrees, it was warming the property at over 24/25 degrees, which forced us in different occasion to just switch off the system. When complaining the reply from the installer was that the system was installed correctly and it was working. We lived for a week in a sort of hell with unbearable temperature day and night.
After contacting directly the Qvantum after sale service we managed to have the upper temperature sorted-out but we still have issue with the lower temperature as the Qvantum QE does not allow having a night temperature below 19.5/20 degrees.
We were asked what would be our comfort temperature, which is 21 degrees during the day. The service support set the comfort temperature at 21 degrees, but again this temperature is now constant day and night. An ideal bedroom temperature should be at around 16-18°C Sleep Environment - The Sleep Charity, this have severe complication in our wellbeing and comfort, as we are having sleep-less nights.
When contacted the support service, we had several unlikeable reply and no real solution to our core problem.
It was explained that the system for a maximum efficiency it need to have a constant temperature. It was explained that the system operate similar to a fridge where the need to have a constant temperature of a pint on milk is similar to the need of a human being live in a flat with constant temperature day and night, (no difference between a human and a pint of milk).
Another possible solution was to keep the bedroom window open to allow the room to keep cooler.
Now we have excluded the radiator in our bedroom.
In the night we set the thermostat temperature at 15 degrees, but the Qvantum QE keep warming our flat at 19.5/20 degrees, no option to have a cooler flat temperature during the night.
We are keeping wake-up in the night with dry mouth and hot flashes.
As the Qvantum QE keeps running over night, even if we want to exclude it, it cost us unwanted money. I calculate, taking picture of the meter reading before go to bed and early morning, that we use an average of 7kwh per night. A quick calculation, if 1kwh cost £0.30 then 7Kwh cost £2.10 per night or over £60 per month, which could be easily avoided or reduced if the Qvantum QE would allow to keep our desired setting.

Since receiving your review, our engineer has visited your home on a number of occasions and followed up with you by phone. We'd like to address the key points you've raised and share how we've worked to resolve them:

1. Hot Water for Bathing:
The issue with your bath water temperature was traced to a thermostatic mixing valve fitted in your property, which is designed to limit hot water to prevent scalding. We're pleased to confirm the Qvantum system is producing hot water correctly, and we hope our visit helped clarify this. Additionally, recent software updates now offer the ability to adjust outlet temperatures to better suit your preferences.

2. Temperature Scheduling:
We understand how important flexible temperature settings are for your comfort. An upcoming software update (currently in
development) will allow for improved time-based scheduling and more tailored temperature control. Once it's available, we’ll be more than happy to help you get everything set up just as you’d like.

3. Night-Time Temperatures and Solar Gain:
As we discussed during our last visit, your apartment experiences significant solar gain — even during cooler periods — which naturally raises indoor temperatures above your chosen setpoints. Our engineer demonstrated that the system is responding correctly by reducing or stopping heat input when it's not needed. We hope this helped explain why the unit may feel “active,” even though it's operating in an energy-saving mode.

4. Energy Usage:
While we can’t fully evaluate your energy usage without access to your bills, we’ve reviewed your system settings and can confirm that the unit is operating within expected parameters. Unlike your previous system, which relied more heavily on an immersion heater, our unit uses a higher-capacity heat pump — which generally results in lower overall energy consumption. Many of our customers have reported noticeable savings, and we’d be glad to continue helping you optimise your setup.

5. Installation Issues:
We were truly sorry to hear about the difficulties you experienced during the installation process. However, we’d like to clarify that Qvantum was not involved in the installation and was unaware of it at the time. The issues arose from the installation itself, which was carried out independently. We only became aware of your situation once you reached out to us directly, at which point we were glad to step in and provide support.

6. Support Experience:
We fully understand how frustrating it must have been not to receive the help you needed early on. We’d like to further clarify that the support you initially received was from the installer, not directly from Qvantum. Now that we're in direct contact, we sincerely hope you’ve seen a more attentive and helpful approach.
