AVOID Rainbow Restoration

Avoid this company at all costs. They are not a restoration company, they just hire neck-down contractors to do their work. They do not restore anything, they just sell you a bill of goods. Good money spent on quality materials, just to have unqualified workers come and install it. They de-valued my house! Now it's all getting ripped out and redone by a real restoration contractor.

zero stars, rainblow

If I could give this rating zero stars, I would. Rainbow restoration has been nothing but problems throughout our entire job. There would have been even more mistakes than there already was if we hadn’t been stopping by our house every single day. Some days, they worked for two hours, sometimes five, sometimes weeks in between anyone showing up would go by. Multiple personal belongings of ours were damaged, broken or lost. Dave was constantly rude and argumentative about any issues. After being out of our house for over five months, the job should be done correctly, right?? They told us that our job was complete and we asked for a walk through. When the walk through was done and multiple issues were pointed out, we were promised they would be fixed in time for us to move back in by the deadline. Two days later, they still hadn’t shown up to work and then told us that they will not complete our job until they were paid the balance of our project. We withheld that money and let them know that once the work was completed correctly, we would pay in full. They are now refusing to finish their work or address any issues they’ve caused. Thumbs down for rainblow.

Rainbow international restoration of north Versailles Pittsburgh pa office Brian keener we gave him 201,000$ he kept asking for more money never finished our basement just painted over my upstairs cracked steps stole my pipes and wires so they could get more money from my insurance never hooked my outside hose line back up I had to bag them to fix the fire damage to my bricks left a whole in my roof from the fire department so water was damaging my paint job he never came back to fix the paint from the water damage forgot my crown molding in my room then told me very rude he don’t wanna be micro managed stopped working on my house November 2025 and just calling me march 2026 asking for the last 10,000 unprofessional before the fire I had a 10 jet jacuzzi he downsized to 6 jets downsized my windows I ask him not to he took almost 2 years to finish my house still dint finish

Not trustworthy!!

The work got done on a townhome we had. We paid them. Now 9 months plus later they try and charge me more money. All along my spider sense told me not to trust this company. How are they able to try and charge me more money 9 months later. Horrid and utter rip off. Stay far away folks.

Promised Mold Remediation not done

I needed to have a professional do mold remediation (in Clifton Park, in Upstate NY) when I found Black Mold was imbedded in Sheetrock under a tankless hot water heater which I didn't know had a very small leak. I called Rainbow International since their website indicates they are certified and licensed in Mold Remediation. Rainbow (Albany NY) came in, told me the Black Mold they saw in the Sheetrock would require cutting out that section of the wall, and they could in fact eliminate the mold problem. They charge $2500 to cut away about 10 sqr ft of wall(&fix repaint), spray antifungal into the wall and rug around it(didn't even cut away rug to just check under it). Thinking they solved the mold problem as they promised, I stopped running ultraviolet light (contain mold growth/spread). After that I became extremely sick, and had to go to family's place in NYC;where a doctor found he needed to prescribe 3 antibiotics and warn continuation of a problem might require hospital intervention. After getting sick, I called Rainbow. They acknowledged that the illness could've been from continued mold problem, but then blamed this on my "having a lot of things" (I took out of the walk-in closet when I first found the mold)! As the later Mold Inspector said, their job under NY Law was to have a full inspection done BEFORE starting the estimate & work; if for nothing else to professionally determine the extent and details in the Mold Remediation work needed to have the work successfully completed in a thorough manner (that wouldn't leave the issue outstanding afterwards). Rainbow (2 weeks ago) said they would call me back about any next steps they could possibly take to fully solve the problem; I still haven't heard from them after I sent them the Mold Inspector's report along with the "Air Analysis" sent from a laboratory that examined the air samples from the apartment (containing the mold they were hired to remediate)!!
Di not hire this company. My understanding this isn't up to minimum standards required by NY Law for licensed individuals.

My insurance company Allstate chose…

My insurance company Allstate chose rainbow restoration for me. It has been the most traumatic horrifying experience having them throw my items around break things, leave pee and mess on my toilet seat, the disrespect for my personal property is unacceptable. I had been in my house for 30 years with a lot of things such as pictures,children's memories, and 30 years plus of collectibles. They only take glass items and furniture. Another company is supposed to come and get textiles. Well the textiles are thrown in trash bags that I now have to go through to find the pictures and textiles that I would like to keep. If I could review with a minus 10 I would. I'm already under stress from the situation. Rainbow restoration has added to my stress level. They need to have some training on how to be respectful for people's personal properties. I could go on and on but I will stop because too much has happened to record it all. One more thing is 2 days into the restoration I was nagged so much to give a review from the girl heading up the team that I gave a good review. After I gave that good review things went downhill from there. I should have never given in to her insisting that I give a review two days in when they didn't even finish the job. And they did a sloppy and disrespectful job.done.

I had a pipe leak in my guest bathroom …

I had a pipe leak in my guest bathroom in 2021, Rainbow handled the gutting and remodeling of that bathroom. Everything looked good to me but you don’t know what you don’t know. Now 4 years later there was another leak. Plumber confirmed that it was not a pipe but water leaking through the shower wall. I have to have the entire tub/shower surround redone. Between the plumber and the tile company I am out $6000 to have it redone. Nothing was done right by Rainbow. The backer board was installed incorrectly and there were gaps and no moisture barrier was installed. The new 2x4s that Rainbow put in are with mold as was all of the insulation in the wall. They grouted where there should have caulked like where the tub meets the tile. Grout popping off too. Sad thing is they were on the preferred contractor list with my insurance company.

Whole house soot clean up and restoration nightmare

Our home suffered extensive soot damage due to a gas company incident, leading to a six month-long restoration process managed by Rainbow Restoration in Charlottesville. The experience was marked by poor communication, lack of oversight, and careless treatment of our belongings. Key problems included delayed and inadequate packing of personal items, damage to property during cleaning and restoration, subpar repairs (such as mishandling of countertops and painting), and unsanitary conditions left by workers. Carpet installation by Sherwin Williams took three repeat visits to correct the initial unprofessional installation. We had to often intervene to document losses and secure appropriate reimbursement from insurance, ultimately recovering significantly more than originally proposed. Despite some helpful individuals (notably the 1800 Pack Out crew and certain staff like Cody), the overall experience with Rainbow Restoration was unsatisfactory. While many of our issues were ultimately corrected, most of it could have been avoided with better communication and oversight. We recommend stronger oversight, professional cleaning services, and better communication with clients in such situations. By the end we felt more like an insurance claim rather than the home owner and customer. Not recommended for whole house clean up and restoration.

I cannot tell you how grateful I am to Rainbow International Devon. From day 1 to the very last day they have been brilliant. Richard and Darren have been so kind and helpful, nothing too much trouble for them.

Unethical practices …

At the beginning this company responded quick and were very informative. When the project manager came out I had explained that I already had a flooring guy contracted for the job but just needed them for the repairs for the damage my dishwasher caused.
Scott was on board but as time passed and mitigation was complete I received a text stating that they either get to do the whole job or nothing at all , because it was to hard to place a bid into the insurance just for repairs and not have flooring included. This just didn’t sound right to me. Rainbow pretty much came in and left me with gouges in my plywood on the floor, no cabinets, holes in my walls from where new insulation and drywall need to be added. My house was left destroyed.
They decided they were not going to do the work and Scott the project manager states this direction came from the owner. So where does that leave me? It leaves me to start all over again and now contract new contractors. My mother is on hospice living in my home, I can not take proper care of her without a kitchen. I am beyond overwhelmed. Mind you this is all over using the flooring company of my liking:

Cara Lieberman

Cara Lieberman, the owner of this location is probably the worst I have ever dealt with. With me being a customer that have never dealt with water damage or insurance, I had a lot of questions in which she appeared to be very helpful until the process was initiated and already being managed. My earlier complaint with this company was due to an emergency service as my home flooded. They sent one person in which he did the bear minimal and left puddles of water in the floor in which I had to finish the process. She called the next morning and tried to explain their process and explained they would be coming to remove the wet flooring the next day. This lead to more things than promised and found them taking frames off the doors, cutting into the walls and causing damage saying that the contractor I choose would do the repairs to even more damage they caused. I then asked could I get an estimate just to be told, we are too busy and that my adjusted price would be their price as they use the same system. She even had the nerves to say maybe I could do little by little until I’m financially capable as they are too busy to even assist or do the job. I find this company questionable and they even had me sign a paper that wasn’t filled out but wanted initials on everything and a signature in which I took pictures of . Avoid this company as they do work without appropriately informing you what they are doing and then you’re the person left to deal with the damage.

The representatives of Rainbow Internation of Spring and FRSTeam

The representatives of Rainbow International of Spring and their subcontractors FRSTeam are monsters in my opinion! June 2023, they came to my home. Allstate said they are vetted. Hector and his wife Jessica, told me that anything they use or take will be written off as damaged and I must report it on my claim with Allstate. This is stealing! I reported this to my claim agent and he told me to report to police. I did. Later, he told me that he let Rainbow know I made a report. Hector and Jessica got angry with me. My agent told me I had to let them finish. Hector said that I would be lucky if I got anything back. Well, they made that true! Most of my possessions are with them. Hector told me on the day of delivery of my few belongings that I can complain and nobody is going to listen to me, nobody cares. These thieves need to be prosecuted! They took a lot of pictures in June 2023, they sent little information about what they took to Allstate. Allstate doesn't care!

Sadly they are incredibly slow in replying to Tanya emails. They take months to arrive and when they leave the job it is always incomplete. 9 months after our flood, our floor boards and joists are still wet.

IF I CAN'T OBTAIN ONE, I WILL GO IT ALONE!!!!! Details to follow but let me first say that after speaking with Daniel, the Vice President, regarding the nightmare that I went through with his company, he asked how the company could make things right with me. I advised him to speak to the owner and find out how the owner wanted to make things right with me. Unfortunately, he must have gotten legal advice to not make things right because now he says too bad so sad for me. Well, Daniel, like I told you, I will BLOW YOUR COMPANY UP on the internet. You may not be willing to make things right financially, but in the long run it will cost your company!!!!!!

My house had a flood in December which cost me $85,000 to Rainbow. After a long 5 months of living in a hotel, waiting for the job to be completed, in May RAINBOW CAUSED A SECOND FLOOD in my house and charged me an additional $11,000 for it. When they FINALLY COMPLETED the job in July, this is one of the end results....A PIPE FOR THE SINK THAT IS NOT COMPLETE WHICH ALMOST CAUSED A THIRD FLOOD!!!!!!!! HOW IS IT THAT A MINIMUM-WAGE PAID MAID CAN SEE THAT A PIPE IS MISSING BUT NOT RAINBOW WHO WAS PAID ALMOST $100,000?????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been ANGRY dealing with this company for SIX MONTHS and now it continues!!!!! Wait until I catch my breath and tell you about the quality of their other work and performance!!!!

They have great reviews BUT DON'T IGNORE A LEGITIMATE WARNING AND FIND YOURSELF IN MY SHOES!!!!!!!!

Well, I WARNED Mr. Franchise Owner of the Year that I would do this if he didn’t MAKE THINGS RIGHT, so here goes! My husband received a voicemail message from John Wheeler at Rainbow this morning requesting that he return the call. Since I am the one who has been dealing with THIS NIGHTMARE, I told my husband that I would call John back. I called and left a message for John stating that my husband wouldn’t be calling him and requesting that he call me instead. The name John Wheeler meant nothing to me because I hadn’t been dealing with him. Hoping that John was someone of IMPORTANCE who was calling to MAKE THINGS RIGHT, I called the company and asked the receptionist what position John Wheeler held. She didn’t know. So, naturally, my next step was to Google John Wheeler Rainbow Restoration. And LOOKY HERE!!!! HE’S THE OWNER. Not just the owner, but 2023 Rainbow Restoration Franchise Owner of the Year: John Wheeler!!!!!! After obtaining this tidbit of information, I waited ANXIOUSLY for Mr. Franchise Owner of the Year to call me back. I waited. And I waited! AND I WAITED!!!! Tired of waiting, but most of all LOSING HOPE for a FAIR RESOLUTION TO MY NIGHTMARE WITH RAINBOW, I called again. And left another message. This time I was clear: I hope the call is to make things right or I would be “a dog with a bone”. COINCIDENTALLY, he “didn’t hear that message” but called IMMEDIATELY AFTER I LEFT IT. Being to the point, I asked him for the purpose of his call to my husband. He wanted to know where his money was!!!!!! OMG!!!! I didn’t know if I should LMAO or SCREAM!!!!! First of all, we have been sending all monies as soon as it is received from the insurance company. Second of all, given that monies have been sent CONSISTANTLY and we have been working pleasantly with Gina, the girl YOU HIRED TO HANDLE ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLES, on a continuous basis, WHY ARE YOU, THE OWNER, COINCIDENTALLY CALLING AFTER I HAVE POSTED NEGATIVE REVIEWS????!!!!! As I assured you, Mr. Franchise Owner of the Year, we will pay you in full REGARDLESS OF WHAT YOU HAVE COST US but I WILL CONTINUE TO POST MY NEGATIVE REVIEWS UNTIL YOU MAKE IT RIGHT!!!!!

Rainbow International is a franchise

Rainbow International is a franchise. Like all franchise's, management/ownership varies, as does customer service. So if you are looking for reviews, this is not the best platform as to come to a conclusion. Our General Manger has impeccable references from Homeowners, Insurance Industry Professionals as well as commercial. Please reach out to the individual franchise in your area to look for a review and remembered someone can write whatever they like, true or otherwise. Ask for references.

Beware if you are looking for outstanding work from Rainbow Int'l of Lewisville

Rainbow Int'l of Lewisville is not the answer! One painter used latex paint over enamel in the master closet and master bathroom, which created a very big problem for the carpet layers who came in and brought it to my attention that no matter how careful they were it was scuffed and peeling. That's when I looked at the paint cans and realized why it was peeling, they had used the wrong paint. In another bathroom, the same painter failed to remove fixtures or tape off the cabinet & tile areas before painting the walls, so there was paint all over the tile trim, cabinet, fixtures, ceiling and accessories. He came back to take the fixtures off to paint behind them, but didn't wait for the paint to dry before reinstalling the fixtures. He also did not clean up areas where paint was on the items. The cabinet maker is very good if he is completely starting from scratch, but not when restoring partial cabinets that must go in flush with undamaged ones. Both of his cabinets were longer than the original ones, which caused the new ones to overshoot the space provided and his attempt to rectify the problem created more problems. The manager informed me that I was too picky on such an old house, and on one occasion said that I was old & getting senile & on another, that I must dislike Latinos. Number one, I am not getting senile yet and have pictures to prove what I was telling him, and number two, my grandchildren are 1/2 Hispanic, not Latino and neither is he or his workers. This is just a sampling of what went wrong on my job.
