Another scam
Another scam: canceled on me with “no other vehicle available” <24h before pick up when booking was done for about 5months. They obviously keep all optionality to give the car to higher paying customers that come later. Complete garbage business, needs to shut down.
The customer service was excellent
The customer service was excellent, and the staff treated me with courtesy and professionalism throughout the interaction.
However, I was very disappointed with the rental experience. I specifically reserved a vehicle with unlimited mileage. When I arrived to pick up the car, I was informed that although the reservation stated unlimited mileage, I would not be allowed to drive beyond a certain state because the vehicle had restrictions. I was told that if I crossed those limits, additional penalties could apply and that the vehicle had a system that could disable it if it traveled outside the authorized area.
This was completely different from what I had booked. I rented a vehicle with unlimited mileage because I needed the freedom to travel without those types of restrictions. Since the terms presented at pickup did not match the reservation, I chose to cancel.
Unfortunately, the cancellation process was even more frustrating because the reservation had been made through a third party. This caused significant delays, disrupted my travel plans, and forced me to find another rental company at the last minute.
I like supporting smaller businesses whenever possible, but not at the expense of my travel needs or the terms I agreed to when making a reservation. This experience was a valuable lesson for me.
In the end, I rented with Enterprise, a company that has consistently provided reliable service and has never disappointed me. While I appreciate the excellent customer service I received from your staff, the inaccurate representation of the rental terms and the inconvenience it caused mean I cannot recommend this experience.
BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY THEY STEAL YOUR MONEY
BEWARE DO NOT RENT ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!! They offered me an upgrade for free and of course I took the bait. I paid an extra $500 deposit in addition to the $300 that was due the day I picked up the vehicle and after paying what I thought was the rental fee when I booked online. I arrived to turn in the vehicle and the office was closed. I called the number on the door and was instructed to take the car to longterm parking and then they charged me for it. I took pictures of the entire vehicle when I picked it up and when I dropped it off. They claimed I had a scratch on the passenger mirror and charged me almost $400. I have requested pictures that I have not received. So they CHEAT YOU out of your deposit with BOGUS reasons. I will post on every platform I can find including the BBB every day to help keep everyone I can from making the same mistake. This company is a FRAUDULENT SCAM OF A BUSINESS!!!
WARNING
WARNING – Stay Away From This Rent-A-Wreck/APM Location in Orlando, Florida!
My experience with this location was one of the worst I’ve ever had renting a vehicle. Everything seemed fine until after I returned the car. I was later charged hundreds of dollars for alleged damages and other fees that I strongly dispute and do not believe were justified.
What made the situation even more frustrating was the lack of transparency. I never felt I was provided with clear evidence that supported the charges, and despite my efforts to resolve the matter, I was left feeling ignored and treated unfairly. Even after disputing the charges with my credit card company, I was still stuck with the bill.
If you’re considering renting from this location, I encourage you to read reviews from other customers before making your decision. I wish I had done more research first.
Based on my experience, I would never rent from this location again, and I cannot recommend it to anyone. There are many other rental companies in Orlando that treat customers with honesty, fairness, and respect.
Do yourself a favor and rent somewhere else.
Rent a Wreck is doing bait and switch on customers
On 6/6/26 I made a reservation with Expedia o rent a car in Orlando, Florida from a company called Rent a Wreck. The rental term was from 6/9/26 to 6/24/26 (15 days) for a midsize car for $108.26 for the car and $144.00 for collision insurance ($252.26 + 18.57 for taxes and fees due at pickup). I received confirmation from both Expedia and Rent a Wreck on the booking. On 6/9/26 exhausted after a 15+ hour flight, I arrived in Orlando at 7am and was picked up by the Rent a Wreck shuttle which took me to their off airport location at 7276 Narcoossee Road in Orlando. At the counter I was told that Rent a Wreck did not accept third party insurance and I would not be able to rent the car with the booked insurance from Expedia. They wanted $15.00 per day more than the $10 per day rate I paid for with Expedia. I asked them why they would not notify me and accept my booking if they knew they had such a policy. They repeated that if I wanted to rent the car I had to pay more for the insurance. So I tried to reduce the number of days for my rental. I asked them to rent me the car for two days and I would pay for their insurance for that time period. They told me that the car had been booked for a certain time period and that I couldn’t change the terms. They said that my only option was to cancel and re-rent the car but the price would not be the same. At that point I knew this was some sort of bait and switch. So I called Expedia and told them what was happening. Expedia told me that they could only refund the money for the insurance that I had paid and I would have to pay Rent a Wreck the fee they charged for their insurance. Not having slept for several hours and very tired I did what Rent a Wreck required and canceled the rental and re-booked with the increased price for the car and insurance. The new price for the car was $14.99 per day for the two days and the insurance was $45.89 for the two day with other taxes and fees it came up to $112.75 with a $500.00 security deposit.
Later that day I called Expedia to ask for a refund for the car rental and insurance. They immediately gave me the insurance refund, but said they had to contact Rent a Wreck and as them to refund the car rental fee back to me. Three days later I called back after the money was not refunded. The representative put my on hold while he said he was calling Rent a Wreck. After about 10 min he said he had called them and they said the refund would take 72 hours. No refund was made. I didn’t call back until my trip was completed. I called Expedia back 20 days after my last call asking for the refund. I asked the rep to find out what happened to my refund. She put me on hold and came back later to say that Rent a Wreck would no longer respond to their inquires, and they could no longer get in contact with them. She told me that she would escalate the issue within Expedia to see what could be done. I asked her to send me a brief summary of the issue and to let me know ASAP about the outcome. She sent the summary stating what she had told me. And the following day Expedia sent a follow-up email stating “We spoke with and unfortunately since your booking was made under non-refundable policy they are unable to make any exceptions to their policy and will not be issuing a refund.” I provide this information as a warning to other consumers not to use either of these businesses for your own protection.
cancelled without notice
Arrived at the airport and was told that my name was not on the pickup list. Upon contacting FairCar/Rent-a-Wreck via WhatsApp, I was informed they were cancelling my booking. No notice was given, and they said they could offer no support or alternatives. Totally unreliable.
STAY AWAY DONT DO IT!!!!! Horrible company!!!
Whatever you do do not rent from rent a wreck and any location in our country. They will charge you max for everything even though you left it immaculate with more gas with no damage with nonsense fees to an airport that makes no sense because we can all drive through the airport and drop people off without being charged and so on and so on. Do yourself a favor and stay away from the upfront cost and thinking you’re getting a good deal because it will be the worst experience of your life and get ready to handover all of your security deposit money when you’re done. You won’t be able to talk to anybody to compensate you for the Bull crap charges you’re getting it will only be through email and good luck with that. They don’t give a crap about you.
DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY!!
DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY!!! A hassle all the way around. We returned the vehicle clean and inspected and wanted the girl to sign something for us to say everything was good- she disappeared conveniently. A month later I was charged $310 to my checking account. We kept calling and could not reach anyone. We disputed the charge, but since nothing was signed I had to pay. What a fraud! This company needs to be shut down! Bad business!
Dishonest fees
Dishonest fees. It said $58 on Expedia and it's $120 in person. Shame on this company.
DO NOT RENT FROM THEM!
I rented from Expedia.com at my pick up was at Newark airport! First they are off site and when I arrived the the parking lot of ABC Parking (that's who they contract with), the gas was on EMPTY! So I called as I was furious.. it's 11:30 PM and there is no gas in the car! Jenn proceeds to tell me that all of the cars were rented (that was a bunch of BS). So that was issue #1... Once I got to the gas station which was 2 miles away.. I got gas, once back in the car, I noticed the back left tire PSI was at 11! I did notice it, but didn't pay it any mind as I was focused on getting gas at 11:30 PM. So I called back and complained that they gave me a car with a FLAT TIRE! I was already on the highway heading to me destination and drove it like that until I was close to my destination to get air.. so that was issue #2! I called the next day and the Supervisor had the nerve to tell me that I must have ran over a nail! NO SIR, don't try and put this BS on me! Ya'll are out here renting dirty, smelly and beat up cars and you're not going to pin this on me! I have called them 4 times ( 4 days) since returning the car and I still have not received my deposit or the toll fee!
They are the WORSE and if I don't receive my deposit within the next day or 2, I will be calling my credit and report a claim. then going to file a claim with the BBB.
DO NOT RENT A CAR HERE/Old carsHIDDEN FEES
If I could give this place zero stars, I would. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY!
I booked through Expedia and didn’t check the reviews beforehand, huge mistake. The negative reviews are absolutely accurate.
I reserved a Toyota RAV4 or similar SUV, but when I arrived, the employee started adding a bunch of hidden fees. They charged extra just for using my own insurance, and then tried to charge another fee because I supposedly didn’t have the required $300,000 liability coverage. I rent cars frequently and have never dealt with anything like this before.
On top of that, they force you to prepay toll fees/daily charges, and if you decline, they threaten to charge around $50 per day.
Because I didn’t meet their “minimum liability” requirement, they refused to give me the SUV I reserved and instead offered me an old Toyota Corolla. The car was outdated and in poor condition. Rental cars are supposed to be newer and reliable, not worn-out vehicles.
I was so frustrated that I walked out without taking the car. Save yourself the stress and avoid this company at all costs.
Scam! Scam! Scam
I would love to give this company a zero but it’s not an option. After purchasing a rental months in advance for my vacation. Being charged 147.00. My flight was delayed so we were late picking up the car and was told we didn’t call so they cancelled it. Was also told NO refund!! We could purchase it again if we would like with extra insurance for 28.00 more a day. Which I already paid for when booking. We was stranded with no car and down 147.00. The guy at the counter was so rude and disrespectful.
Rip off car rental
I would NEVER rent a car from this company again. I booked the rental through Expedia. We were to rent the car for 21 days. The total was $754.53. I made a credit card payment online in the amount of $557.97 to reserve the car. The receipt then showed that I would pay the remaining balance of $196.56 when I picked it up in Orlando. I showed Rent A Wreck the receipt when we arrived to pick up the car. The agent said we had two choices on how tolls would be paid. We could either pay $12.99 per day and have all tolls included in that price or pay $8.99 per day and pay extra for whatever tolls we incurred. I was shocked that were would have to pay that much for tolls when in the past we paid our own tolls which was under $20. In addition, they said we would have to pay a deposit of $500. I assumed that was to make sure we brought the car back in good condition. We expected the deposit but not the extra $203 for tolls. Total rip off! Before we returned the car, we filled it up with gas, washed the outside and cleaned the inside so they wouldn't charge us any extra for cleaning. About a month later we received another charge on our credit card from this company in the amount of $398. We have no idea what it was for because they never issued us an itemized receipt. I called the main office in California and they sent me the invoice they received for our rental. The total on their invoice included a senior driver surcharge in the amount of $315. Nothing was ever said about that to us. Seven days after we returned the car, we received a charge from them on our credit card in the amount of $398.20. That was part of the deposit we left. We have no idea what they charged us for. Do not use this company. They produce added charges one way or another to bring up the price of your rental.
Over forventninger.

Turned up in Nice France and had pre paid but told no cars come back tomorrow!!!
Bait and switch, hidden fees
Got an inexpensive rental in Orlando through Expedia. Should have known it was too good to be true. It is NOT in the airport despite ads saying it is. The shuttle took over 35 minutes to pick us up, plus a 30 min drive. We waited over an hour in line. Then they said I needed to give proof of insurance, which was a hassle because I don't carry those documents with me. Then insisted I pay some ridiculous fee to get a toll transponder, which still then required I pay for my own tolls. So $160 additional for nothing. Car worked fine but had alerts it was overdue for an oil change. Dropped it off, guy inspected it, never said a thing. The insist I check my email and give him a review immediately. Literally stood there and wouldnt move on until I showed him the email so he could "get a free vacation." 3 weeks later my credit card gets charged $250. I contact them to ask why. They said $17 in toll fees (ok) then another $50 admin fee for tolls even though I already prepaid for the transponder fee!! Then $150 because there was some sand on the floor of the driver's seat that they said was excessive. It was maybe a 3 min vacuum job from getting caught in the rain, we never went to a beach. I had to dispute it with my credit card. DO NOT RENT HERE. They are the biggest bait snd switch predators.
Rent A Wreck St Maarten Horrible
I would give Rent a Wreck agency a zero in terms of service and the quality of their cars. I rented a car from April 12 to April 20th 2026, from Rent a Wreck St Maarten from the airport.
I payed for a Hyundai Elantra and they gave me a Hyundai Accent which was in very poor condition. When it rained the brakes were very squeaky and grinding noises came from the back of the car. Only when it dried out for 2 days did the brakes returned to normal. The original key fob set off an alarm when you pressed it and the trunk did not open from the key fob. A second remote was attached which you needed to open the door with without setting off an alarm. Rent a Wreck St Maarten is the worst rental agency I have ever dealt with by far.
They are cheapest in St Maarten because they are the worst, and they truly live up to their name!!!!! Don’t rent from them you have been warned.
On another note, I returned the car a day early by accident, I got the dates mixed up, and Rent a Wreck refused to give the car back because they said they closed the file. They wanted a lot more money to rent it again for a day I had already paid for!!!!!!
I’d give Rent a Wreck a zero stars if I…
I’d give Rent a Wreck a zero stars if I could. They quoted me $127 for one week, booked through Expedia. Got to the airport and had to wait half an hour for the shuttle to take me to their “desk”. There, I had to do everything through a monitor/remote video. Prior to my trip, I had paid $100, and received an email saying I’d have to pay the remaining $27 at pick up time. Got there and after all the paperwork, they told me I’d have to pay $254 (instead of $27) for “rental car insurance”. This, despite the fact that my credit card company already has a policy to insure my car rental, which I told them repeatedly. The “customer service” guy was giving me every excuse possible to make me pay the $254. If I had paid, the rental price would have ended up being triple of what was originally quoted. Classic bait and switch because they mentioned nothing like this in the email they had sent me. It was always “$27 remaining, and you’re good to go.” I hope they go out of business soon. Unethical robberies!
They charge you extra after you return the car
The car was in good condition. That was the only good thing about this experience.
1. I found they had the lowest cost on Expedia so I booked it.
2. In addition to the payment on Expedia, when I came to pick up the car, they told me about other charges that they will put on my credit card: E pass activation card, and I had to buy their Damage and Collision insurance. They do not accept any other, even if you have the highest type of credit card with insurance when you rent a car. But this isn't the main issue.
3. After I returned the car(in clean condition because we rarely used it other than going out for dinner in the evenings) and three weeks later, they charged my credit card for another $271. I asked them why, and they charged me $60 for cleaning and $150 for a scratch. When I had returned the car, I told the counter person that we should check the car to which she replied, 'oh don't worry about it, we took the car to the back already and everything is fine.' Looking at some of the reviews, it seems like this is a regular practice for them.
DO NOT HIRE FROM THESE PEOPLE !!
DO NOT HIRE FROM THESE PEOPLE !!
The whole thing is a scam, once we arrived to pick up our car they told us that we had to pay minimum $920 for Insurance otherwise we could not collect the car. I argued that we had already paid the hire fee quoted but the rude manager was adamant that when you pay online it is only 3rd party insurance and you need full cover insurance. I feel like a fool for trusting APM car Rental (Rent a wreck), I should have know that a company with that name is not serious. Anyway don't be fooled by these horrible people ... YOU WILL REGRET IT !!
