I love working on computers and Apple products when I upgrade their SSDs and other parts. Learning how to DIY repair a dead "new" battery in a refurbished iPod was not a goal of mine. The whole point of getting a Retrospekt item was it would be in great condition. I'm not saying NEW-new, only that it works and is great. My iPod nano was indeed working great. I don't depend on one iPod, as I use different ones. I never had a mini, so this was so exciting.

Well, the iPod now does not turn on. Right? And their support team wanted:
- $90 approx
- pay for my own shipping
- IF that's all because it could need more
- no warranty, so they could send over a dying junk battery again

Uh, what? So like the 30 day warranty window on the item was not bad enough, you now don't offer a warranty on work you created, AND you want to possibly charge more?

I can swap an SSD easily or work on computers. The lower flap on this iPod came off, and I'm undoing the ribbon, but Retrospekt jammed/glued shut the top because I am struggling to take it off. And I am someone who lives for this stuff.

Doing a DIY repair today with a new battery, the Retrospekt drive install is great. The rest…well, it’s tight as can be. The sound after doing the battery repair is downright runny. Reverb all over. The L-R output is turning central vocals into instrumentals. My ears are uncomfortable after this. No way can I use this iPod as a jogging device because it is hurting my hearing.

I have no choice but to have someone I know repair this or find someone who guarantees their work.

Retrospekt will probably say I damaged my own device. I’m still using original iPods without modifications. Original drives and batteries. The one time I get a refurbished iPod, it goes bad this quickly? CRIES IN APPLE FAN. I hope and pray I can get this fixed.

Unimpressive company. Sent me a Polaroid that didn't work too well with fuzzy photos and auto-focus not working. Waived the 10% re-stock fee b/c of the camera issues but insisted on charging me a restock fee for the accessories which were useless to me at that point. Feels like a classic money grab. Charged me $38 to ship a small box back. Took 5-7 days to respond to inquiries via email and forever to process the return.

Marvelous customer service! USPS sent my package to the wrong address on my block (?? they wouldn't disclose where). Cal at Retrospekt was quick to respond and promptly shipped me a replacement item. The CP-81 I ordered is a rad little cassette player! What a cool company, it feels great to support an American manufacturer that's making cool stuff.

I purchased a pair of orange foam headphone pads on Sept 15, and they arrived promptly on Sept 18. When I tried to install them on my Sony mdr 027 headphones, I had to struggle to get the first one on. When I tried to carefully install the second one, it immediately ripped.
Customer service refused to replace or refund the defective item. Beware!
