Just finished an 8 day tour with our guide Noory. It was a wonderful, reflective, and thought-provoking experience, not just because of the rich culture, kind people, and unique history and archeology of the country, but also because of the chance to converse and benefit from Noory’s experience and perspectives on all topics.

Many of the sites we visited (eg Balkh) I surprisingly had all to myself. I also had the best ice cream of my life in Mazar-i-Sharif. The list of superlatives goes on and on.

Really enjoyed the experience and would highly recommend.

Joe and Noory made the trip an easy, safe and memorable trip from the first contact with Safarat to boarding the plane to leave Kabul. The information and instructions provided prior to the trip were excellent and made getting the visa and preparing simple and effective. During the trip Noory was very flexible and went out of his way to ensure I got to see as much as I could of this historic and beautiful country even though we had -10 degree temperatures and were snowed into Kabul for all but the last day of my solo 3 day trip. He dealt with any hiccups and made sure I was safe at all times. A memorable trip delivered by an excellent tour guide company with fantastic individuals taking care of everything. I had a fantastic solo trip to Afghanistan for six days visiting Kabul, Bamyan, Band e Amir and Ghazni. Noory, my guide, was excellent - informative, punctual and a real delight to be with. I arranged this trip last minute in November and Joe and Noory were very accommodating to make this trip happen. Traveling was truly an unforgettable experience. Not only was our guide incredibly knowledgeable, but he also took the time to share so much about Afghan culture and history. One of the highlights for me was exploring the heritage sites in Bamyan—not just seeing the breathtaking landscapes, but also learning from our guide’s stories and cultural insights that brought everything to life.

He also introduced us to many delicious local foods. Each meal was a new adventure in itself. In addition, he recommended a wonderful guesthouse that was comfortable and welcoming, which made the whole trip feel even more special.

I always felt safe and well taken care of, and everything was arranged perfectly from start to finish.

We had an amazing experience with Safarat. Our guide was so knowledgeable and patient. He listened to what we wanted to do and worked with us. The car was very comfortable and he was a very safe driver. I highly reccomend.

It's impossible to put words to what an immensely fulfilling experience my trip was to Afghanistan with Safarat. All I can think about after spending time in Kabul, Bamyan and Band-e-Amir with Noory is when I can return to see more. It's an insanely beautiful country with a culture of hospitality that defies imagination. At no point during my travels did I ever feel uncomfortable or unsafe, and while that wasn't ever my worry, it might be helpful for others to hear. Part of that is surely due to Noory and Joe and the behind the scenes preparation that made travel seamless. Everything was smooth from start to finish. I just wish I had more time in the country. Thank you, Joe and Noory, for helping me fulfill a long time travel dream.

Noory made us feel very welcome and safe during our weekend in Kabul. We went to the main sights in Kabul, Chicken Street for souvenirs,the Blue Shrine, and a wall walk. He is very knowledgeable about history and shared great insights about Afghanistan.

We felt safe in his care, and his restaurant recommendations were all delicious.

I had a great time visiting Kabul and Bamyan. Noory is a very nice person and professional, he was very helpful and polite. I greatly appreciate his efforts in making all the parts of the trip run smoothly, especially during the uneasy month of Ramadan along with adverse weather conditions.

In February 2025 I went to Afghanistan with Safarat and I have to say it was the right decision to choose this company. From the very first contact and during the journey I felt that I was in very capable, knowledgable, competent and very friendly hands. My journey was very well planned by Joe, the owner and Noory, his man in Afghanistan. Papers for the visa application were very well prepared and it with these it was a breeze to get the visa. I had a beautiful, interesting and eye opening 5 day trip to Kabul and Bamiyan. Winter is maybe not the best time to visit this country. We couldn't visit the Band e Amir lakes due to heavy snow on the roads leading there but it is also a very special time passing the almost 3000 metre passes with snow walls on both sides of the road.
Noory, who was my guide the whole time was knowledgeable, explained life before and after the change of the recent government and much much more. He is a very reliable and cautios driver and it was a pleasure to be with him.
Some travellers visit Afghanistan without a guide. For me it was so much more rewarding to have Noory with me. I am very grateful to have chosen Safarat and if I decide to visit Afghanistan again I will make sure to go with them again. Thank you very much Joe and Noory.

This company encourages people to visit Afghanistan, a country that treats women in the most appalling fashion. Surely, we should boycott the Taliban like we boycotted South Africa for apartheid?

Traveling to Afghanistan with Safarat was a journey into the heart of one of the most fascinating and complex regions of the world.
Joe’s ability to connect the rich past of the country with the present day with activities such as the visit to the Halo Trust, truly set this tour apart. His storytelling painted a vivid picture of the ancient civilizations that once thrived here , and started many conversations about the most recent affairs.
Through the eyes of Noory and the rest of the local team, we not only saw the scars of (seemingly) endless wars, but an enduring spirit, natural beauty, and the hospitality that Afghans are so well-known for.

This was more than just a trip - it was an eye-opening experience that showed us that Afghanistan is a place of immense history, hope and heart. And I personally cannot wait to go back to discover more of it.

Is Afghanistan safe and ready for tourism? I'm not sure. But, like anything, people will visit regardless. If you are committed to visiting this beautiful yet troubled country I don't think you should consider any group other than Safarat. Joe has a deep understanding of the country, its culture, and its challenges, and the Afghans he works with on the ground are always happy to provide deep local knowledge. The reality is that if you aren't smart in this country it could majorly backfire, but Joe and the team navigate all the potential pitfalls for you in the background so you can enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime trip.

Organizing a trip to Afghanistan with safety precautions was a nightmare for me when it came to finding a reliable guide. Of course you can go without, and perhaps risking a nightmare there instead. Many guides seemed downright stupid; one even sent stock photos of food when I asked about what to do, such as photos of food, when asked about activities. Others rely on obvious AI-generated responses. All of them overstated the safety of Afghanistan, likening it to a visit to IKEA.

In this context, Safarat stands out for its honesty and professionalism. They provide a clear and realistic assessment of safety conditions, letting travelers know when it is safe to visit and when it is not.
