I found an injured baby possum in our back yard and the volunteer operator provided simple, sensible and easy to follow advice that made a difference to the animal’s outcome before I could get it to a vet.

We travelled to Adelaide for a family event and unfortunately when we arrived at our accommodation there was a possum carrying her Joey in the driveway. Whilst we were trying to guide her away she moved in a different direction and we thought her head went under the wheel of the car. After she spent the night in the bush - I couldn’t locate any carers to assist. Parks and wildlife SA gave me the contact details for these amazing people who were out as soon as they could. They picked up the possum and Joey and sought help for them. The possum sustained injuries to her paws which was an easier fix and will be returned when she’s healed.
I’m so grateful for their help. They were so kind and lovely and sent me updates and photos to ease my stress!

Contacted this group after finding heat stressed juvenile possum in our suburban garden during extended heatwave. Call promptly answered and advice received was extremely helpful. Did everything they suggested and happy to say the possum survived. A very worthwhile service

We found a baby possum in our garden today it’s 43 Celsius outside. Got advice about how to keep him safe inside until the weather improves. Very helpful and friendly. Thanks

I came across a koala on a freeway that had been hit by a car and was dragging its back legs to get to safety. After calling numerous rescuers for help (to no avail), I ended up calling a local vet clinic who put me onto SOWFI. Thankfully they answered my call immediately and sent someone out to pick up the koala whilst I waited for them to arrive. I don’t know what would have happened to the struggling, injured koala if I hadn’t reached them.
I will go directly to them if needed again in the future and I commend their responsiveness, advice, support and care.

Recently we had a baby magpie on our lawn with fishing line wrapped around both legs. The girls came to our home and set up a net with food to encourage the young bird to be trapped.
A couple of days went by and then eventually we netted the bird. My neighbour was told to take it yo a vet to have the line cut. Within an hour the bird was released back with its family. Job well done! Thankyou.

I recently contacted this animal rescue organisation about an injured seagull and I was really impressed with the support I received. The volunteer I spoke to was attentive, caring and genuinely concerned. They listened carefully to what I described and didn’t make the situation feel trivial.
They responded quickly and offered practical guidance, which gave me hope for the bird. I’m grateful for how kind and considerate the volunteer was. This organisation clearly cares.

No wait time to get through, very informative on what to do and where to go especially for after hours. Thank you to all the volunteers!

I rang to ask how I could help a wattle bird fledgling. The kind and interested volunteer explained that it's normal for fledgling to spend time on the ground before learning to fly and I could help by asking my neighbours to keep their cats inside and by keeping my cats inside for a few days. she gave my ideas for what I can do in my area. Thankyou!

I was so grateful to have somebody to call on a Sunday for advice about where I could take a Galah that I found on the side of the road that appeared to have a Broken Wing. All of the local vets were closed and I was really stressed. Thank you for being there and being patient and kind and for everything you do to help animals and restore a little bit of faith in humans too ;)

Emily from Wildlife could not have done better. A driver found baby possum, maybe 12cm not incl tail on the road at school pick up time 3.30 . It had got very windy and cold. Mum
Possum had stopped calling. It was so windy and cold i cld not leave bub on verge. I contacted wildlife rescue and Emily phoned me back. Asked me to take it to 24 hour animal hospital at kent town which i did at 8.30pm. Good on u Emily, you were so calm and helpful.

Very helpful advice in what to do with a magpie fledging, baby was reunited with Mum and Dad and eventually made its way safety back to its nest. Thank you for the great work you do.

I was cutting down some yukka plants in our front yard and found a family of ringtail possums with 2 babies. One baby got left behind and after I called the hotline a beautiful carer came to rescue the baby and give her a new lease on life. This service is amazing and I recommend it to everyone. Thank you for your support and care of our beautiful wildlife 🙏❤️🥰❤️🙏
