The whole process was so smooth except for the 5min wait for the phone call. I confirmed my storage, paid on line, got an email with the access code and got to my storage the same day.
One thing they could improve was telling me which door/lift to use when I arrived. (Potentially a picture in my email to show me where to go)

Terrible service! I asked the staff “ Can I vacate my unit on 16th of september?” Because my contract is ending 14th of september. He said you could send us an e mail several days ago and we would help you. After the mail they said we couldn’t help and you should have told us 14 days ago. Just for 2 days I paid all month. Also after the rain they said check your items because of the flood. That’s horrible! It’s not safe.

Rented a storage unit from Shurgard and the online process worked smoothly. Received emails from the company with my contract and how to access my unit. On these emails at the very bottom there were contact informations and times when the unit can be accessed, specifically between 7am to 11pm. Having received these emails and trusting the information given I arrived with my things at 8pm. However, the storage unit was closed and did not give me access to my unit despite the emails stating the storage building will be open until 11pm. This was frustrating because I had to bring all my things back home. The next morning I arrived at 8am ready to store my things once again however this time my access code did not work on the pin pads. I tried to call the customer service hotline however no one answered and I was put in a waiting line. I waited for at least 40+ minutes on this call without an answer. I went up to the office building and there were no staff present. I understand that the staff work between 9am to 6pm, and I finally got help from a staff member named Tony. He was very apologetic and helpful. After a disaster of a situation he managed to help me gain access. All in all, the storage company works great during office hours so I highly recommend accessing the unit when staff are working. I feel disappointed that I had to go through so many hurdles when it’s supposed to be simple. When my rent time is up I will not be renewing my contract.

FRAUD ALERT. Long story short: a few months ago, in August 2021, I was due to renew for another year with A&A SELF STORAGE (King’s Cross, London), now acquired by SHURGARD SELF STORAGE. Until August 2021 I paid £75 per month paid in advance on a yearly basis, that is £900 per year.
At the time of the renewal (end of August 2021) the A&A branch manager offered me a quote in line with what I paid up to now, unfortunately this has NEVER been sent in writing and – from September to November 2021 – NO ONE has returned to my numerous calls/attempts to sort out my renewal.
Today, at the end of November 2021, the new company SHURGARD SELF STORAGE, with whom I have NEVER signed any contracts, is suddenly expecting me to pay £ 87.5 per month from September 2021 to November 2021 and £ 120 per month from this month to September 2022. Now, £120 per month equates to a 60% INCREASE (!!) from my previous deal with A&A SELF STORAGE, which was £ 75 per month. This is also stupidly more than the quote I discussed with branch manager at the end of August 2021!
Not only is the whole situation simply out of law but it also represents a 1-way form of abuse, which leaves me little choice now but to seek advise/ report the situation to the Ombudsman Services / Citizens Advice England
