I can't say enough good things about my custom Singular Gryphon! Sam was great to work with and made the process for nailing down the subtle geometry tweaks I wanted easy. The bike fits me like a glove - and with 2.6" 29er tires, practically eats "gravel" bikes for breakfast! My favorite component is probably the fork. I can run a 3" tire for bikepacking missions for max flotation up front, and it is simply divine to ride, soaking up washboard and small bumps better than any other rigid fork I've ridden (and I've ridden a lot!). If you are on the fence, get yourself a Singular. You won't regret it.

I had been looking to do an ATB style build for some time, but hadn’t found anything off-the-peg that exactly suited what I wanted.

Having never ridden a Singular before, coming to Sam for a custom bike was a bit of a gamble. Other positive reviews, and Sam’s obvious love of fun, mixed terrain bikes tipped the balance and I decided to get in touch.

Dealing with Sam was great he was patient, fun to chat to and clearly knows his stuff. What impressed me most was the close attention that he paid to my quite particular requirements, and that he really understood exactly the sort of bike that I wanted.

With the drawings done and manufacturing underway, all I had to do was wait. The bike arrived a few days earlier than predicated and in absolutely perfect condition with zero defects.

I could not be happier with the end result! Sam has created a fun, nimble bike that’s great to ride on and off road that behaves very well with a load. With my specifications for Jones bars, tyre size, drive train, suspension seatpost and numerous other demands I felt I’d given Sam quite a narrow target to aim at. He hit it dead on.

If you’re in two minds about a Singular, I’d stop hesitating and place your order, you won’t regret it!

This is mostly a review of my Peregrine Mk 4, but I will say first that I found Sam very generous with his time when helping me sort out frame sizing and some shipping details, despite him being incredibly busy with the business of prepping all the Peregrines that had just come in.

As a versatile platform with wide clearance, disc brakes, and an eccentric bottom bracket (which Sam provides handy online instructions on the maintenance thereof), you can do a lot with this frame. I built mine up to be a comfortable, durable, 650B all-road bike. I find it to be stable and comfortable without being ponderous or unresponsive. It accelerates nicely, yet handles weight well when it’s time to go grocery shopping. It is fun on all the kinds of roads I've thrown at it so far, and has readily supplanted my previous daily driver.

The frame itself is beautiful, which is much of what drew me to it in the first place, and which has drawn more than a few comments from my bike friends. Peregrines have always been attractive, but the updated seat stay attachment on the Mk 4 is nice.

If I had one nit to pick, it would be that I find the paint rather easy to scratch. But no one has ever accused me of being particularly light and easy on equipment, so your mileage may vary.

All in all, I find the frame to be a excellent. It's the first bike I've had in a long time that really makes me itch to get out riding it.

I ordered a custom Ti Gryphon from Singular. The process and the result were excellent. Sam helped me work through the design choices and got the geometry dialed for my body and use case. He was responsive and pleasant to work with throughout. Though all this was done remotely, Sam was able to use dimensions from my existing bikes and simple body measurements to get the sizing perfect.

When the frame and fork arrived, on schedule and without incident, I was impressed by the quality of the workmanship and the beauty of the finished product. The bike rides like a dream and, with room for 29x3.0 tires and all the mounting options I could want, it’s perfect for my high desert rambles. Smooth singletrack, rough doubletrack, dirt and gravel roads and pavement are all on the menu.

My first real ride was an 8-hour epic, and I finished with a big smile on my face. I really wouldn’t change a thing. Great bike, great ordering experience and great value. Thanks Sam!

I bought a titanium frameset from Sam — based on the Gryphon, with custom geometry. The frameset has been excellent to ride and has even replaced another, very different bike of mine.

During the planning, design and purchase processes, I sent over 50 emails (no exaggeration), and always received a quick reply. Sam was very helpful and I learned a lot about bikes in the process too.

I wholeheartedly recommend Singular Cycles, and there’s a very good chance I’ll get another frameset from Sam in the future.

Bought what looked like a new Singular Peregrine from my local Bike store in Perth, Western Australia this year. It was serviced and adjusted, and I have to say at the tender age of 63 this is best bike I've ever ridden in my life. The geometry means you're in a relaxed state from the get-go. It is the most comfortable ride ever. I contacted Sam at Singular and found out it was the first-Generation made back in 2008. I can't imagine how good the new crop of Peregrines is. I have 4 bikes, but if I had to have one it would be this. This bike is built like a brick shithouse yet its light and nimble. I highly recommend these bikes.

Singular Cycles' designer, Sam Alison, has an innate sense for classic design and presentation mixed perfectly with modern standards. I own both the Gryphon Mk3 and Peregrine Mk4 and these bikes epitomize what a Singular Cycles bike is all about. Maximum versatility with classic looks. Smooth riding steel frames an forks with lots of tire clearance. I am very pleased with my purchases.

I have alot of Bikes, including top of the line carbon bikes but the one that stands out is the Singular Gryphon. Its by far the best ride out of all of them. Sams Care and Bikes are excellent! I am already planing to build up another one!

I went for a new Swift about a year ago, ordering a frameset, and built it up as a rigid SS. In the process of researching some ideas, I also decided to spring for a titanium Singular post, in the smaller 27.2 size, to use with a shim. I also decided to run a titanium bar in a straight 22.2 diameter. I bought a size L, at 5'10" and a 32 inseam.

The end result has been absolute magic! The geometry has me well centered and comfortable on the bike. I can easily move around to use body english as needed, and the steel is compliant without being noodly. The titanium bits, I'm sure, also help to take the edge off, but I've had no problem riding both the flowy singletrack and the rocky technical trails in Duluth. This comfort also makes it fast! In the year I've owned it, I've ridden it in preference to all of my other MTB's and set numerous PR's on Strava, faster than my full suspension and hardtail bikes!

I had deliberated for a bit before buying the frameset and reached out to Sam with my questions. I received quick and complete responses, so that I was confident in my choice, and it has been one of my favorite all time bikes. In fact, I've been so impressed with Singular that I recently ordered a Peregrine, just arrived, to supplant my current gravel ride!

It's been a great experience, both with the product and the company. Oh, and as a note, Singular has a US distributor, Biciclista, who's also wonderful - friendly, knowledgeable, and responsive. While I bought the Swift from Singular's site, it was fulfilled by Biciclista, and I went directly to them for my Peregrine.

i‘ve been riding my singular peregrine for 3 years now in different set ups, from fast gravel to loaded touring. a dream bike!

I got a Mk4 Swift in 2016 and rode it (rigid) with 29x2.3 and 27.5x3 wheels, primarily bikepacking off road in Wales and Scotland. I love it.

That got me interested in the (then rare-as-hens-teeth) Gryphon, and I found a Mk2 on eBay. I bought it immediately. It was slightly too large, but clearly awesome. It took another 18 months before one popped up for sale in my size, but the Gryphon was such a fun and capable drop bar bike I knew it was worth tracking one down.

My Mk2 Gryphon is my go-to choice for mixed terrain bikepacking and light touring, and it also works great with the same 29x2.3 or 27.5x3 tyres. I've run it with semi-slick 29x2.1 too, which suit it really well.

What makes them stand out from the alternatives? For me, a big draw was the steel fork. Many people reported that they were amongst the most comfortable steel forks they'd ridden, and I do agree with that.

I'm very glad they're back in production.

I purchased a titanium seatpost from Singular cycles, there was a slight hiccup in estimated delivery date, but it was resolved very quickly and it still arrived much earlier than I expected. The seatpost itself is very pretty, welds at the clamp are perfect, it’s lightweight, and at the price is excellent value. Great product and great customer service!

Singular Cycles builds fantastic bikes. I've owned nearly every model in the Singular line over the past dozen years and just built up a new Swift as my hardtail mountain bike.

Whether you go for a Ti or steel frame, you won't be disappointed with your new Singular.

I have 3 singular cycles - a 2011 Gryphon that I bought new, a Perragrine frame set that I was able to find “ pre loved” and a Titanium Gryphon frame set that was made to order - every one of them is a joy to ride , are elegant and really well made with really nice design touches - Sam Allison has been great to deal with over the years , very approachable and personable - if your after a bike that has that “something special” is durable, practical, looks good and will put a smile on your face every time you ride it i would recommend that you check out Singular cycles - 5 stars from me
