I manage my family's LLC investments, and have been desperately searching for addition investment sleeve to balance stocks/equities/bonds. When (...not if) we have some significant downturn in the market, I want to have a strategy working for me that makes money during that time (plus while it's still trending up, like it is right now, end of 2026). And their just aren't very many options for that - if you're a retail investor who doesn't have millions and millions.

Found Skysail through the Algo Institute. Lost a LOT of money on other algo companies, desperately trying to find a diversified strategy to "long-only" positions (stocks/bonds). All that to say, if I hadn't had such negative experiences with other algo companies - where their systems lost their edge pretty quick after start - I wouldn't have necessarily recognized how Skysail is so different.

Yes - Skysail's track record has amazing returns. Will admit that was what caught my attention in the beginning. But what ultimately led me to put a significant sum under the Skysail strategy, is how much Brian (one of the founders, and key designers of the system) understands and respects RISK. And how he's helped design this suite of different algos to deliver great returns, while managing risk, for the long haul - prioritizing "risk-adjusted returns" (look that up if you're unfamiliar, and at how people like Taleb critique most traditional investment options, i.e. mutual funds).

And if we are headed for turbulent year ahead in the economy (like it very much appears we are), I believe these are people, and a strategy, that I can trust to navigate those waters and come out ahead.

From direct voice and email communication with SkySail representatives:

1. The guy who runs the company, Brian Devens, claims to have an engineering bachelors, and that he learned his statistics from his Grandfather who was a prof in North Carolina. He regards himself as something of a savant.

2. When questioned after having been unable to find a SkySail office at the listed address, Brian confirmed that there is no London office.

3. The claimed investment results were reviewed - but are not even claimed to have been audited - by Alpha Performance Verification Services. Specifically, their statement provides confirmation only that the conclusion presented results from these procedures:
a) Performance is calculated net of commissions and transaction costs but ross of any performance management fees.
b) Performance is calculated on a monthly basis by summing all monthly gains and losses. Monthly returns are summed to get an annual return.

That is, it confirms arithmetic addition was used to produce an annual total from unaudited daily results.

4. Partial trading information (buy-sell entries in an account summary) for several days from a sample account was provided, but it was inconclusive in scope to confirm either the claimed average monthly or summed annual ROI. Requests for further raw data were ignored.

5. I was referred by another sales representative to a said-to-be expert in the field of algorithmic trading, who has reportedly worked with many competitors as well as SkySail for the past few months. His last name (from his gmail address) is also Devens.

Almost two months into Skysail's NQ strategy with 16% returns since inception. Here's what separates this from most retail algo products.

Eric in sales was excellent — educational rather than hype-driven. He helped me understand the critical difference between a real, well-engineered trading strategy and a manufactured equity curve designed to attract capital. That distinction matters.

Most retail algos have architecture problems. Strategies without proper stop losses, position sizing that creates 20-30% account drawdowns or catastrophic blow-ups, designs optimized for marketing rather than real sustainable capital growth. I've experienced this across multiple providers.

Skysail is built differently. Multi-algorithm bundle on NQ futures with real risk management and genuine quantitative discipline. Brian Devens operates with extreme transparency that's rare in this industry; open about capacity limits, honest about difficult periods, realistic about expectations. Multi-year verifiable track record with meaningful capacity remaining.

Performance varies by regime as honest strategies do, better in trends than chop, but the risk framework limits damage.

As of right now, I trust Skysail more than any other company in the algo space I've evaluated after looking at and testing over 12 companies. Risk-worthy strategy in a market full of products that aren't worth the risk they expose you to.

Here to share my personal experience with Sky 3 by Skysail.
