I've been with Smart Asset for over three years, and I've had a positive experience adding new clients to my business. It is a leads source, and not every lead wants to be contacted, so you have to put in some work to find those that would like help. There are times when bad phone numbers are given, so you'll have to submit a request to have those invalidated, but my Account Manager, Sean, has been fantastic with any issues encountered.

SmartAsset has been an effective tool for growing our business and their support systems are top shelf. I'm quite pleased with the relationship.

Smart Asset has to be viewed as more than a lead company. Their lead origination service when coupled with their Deft Sales / OAT system and "live transfer" program gives the advisor not only a pre-qualified lead service but also a call automation system, detailed marketing CRM, and an email drip system all in one integrated approach. Ultimately this is a numbers game - more calls = more contacts = more clients. Lastly, there is no way that I can compete with billion dollar firms in web advertising and SEO placement - Smart Asset allows me to connect with 'in-market' actively looking resources for a fraction of the cost that I'd have to spend if I tried to create the websites and magnet tools on my own. I've tried building my own social media ads, creating funnel campaigns, automating LinkedIn, using custom marketing firms, and the only thing I've found that works consistently at the spend level I can dedicate is Smart Asset. They run a solid program with high touch customer service and sales consulting support. For the small to mid-size firm, you'll be hard pressed to find a better ROI than the Smart Asset program.

I have been a happy SmartAsset user for 2 1/2 years. I've onboarded several wonderful clients via their lead program. Like any other marketing approach, you have to work it, but if you do, it works! They offer several value add services that will help increase the probability of landing new clients.

My monthly Trailing Commissions and Advisory Fees from Smart Asset Clients is $1,134.63. Because I’m spending $950.00 per month under my contract, my leads are paying for themselves plus a little extra.

Here's the catch: You have to take your time, and have a system to find qualified prospects and stay in touch with them. People are making very important decisions, so be patient!

I am an independent advisor and CFP in Tampa and I love this program. I started it November 2025 and today I have closed 4 clients around 1.3 million AUM getting back my annual subscription fee back plus 2x more so I am in green with 9 months still left. I will say this, you have to go through a lot of leads to find one. Their data on conversion rates are accurate. But if you put the work in, this definitely works.

Gives totally untrustworthy advice. Do not give them your personal info. because they will hound you relentlessly if you do. I think they partner with Fisher Investments, which is the worst investment management firm ever.

SmartAsset is by far the best, most consistent resource for high quality leads and client acquisition. It outperforms by far other marketing efforts we’ve tried. We’ve built over 70% of our business using the SA program. For every $1 we spend we make $2.25 - net the cost of the program.

Smart Asset is a great service for us as an advisory firm. They provide access to quality leads at reasonable pricing which allows us to expand our book of business with ease. I would recommend them over their market competition as their lead quality, support and communication are superior.

Very unhappy with the service we have received from Smart Asset. We requested that our targeting area be limited to two cities in Southeastern Nevada in July, yet we still received leads (more than 50%) from Northern Nevada and parts of Northern Utah, way outside of our service area. They provide little to no help when there are technical issues. To top it all off, the quality of the leads is just terrible.

3 reasons to stay away: 1) The one national firm that all advisors detest, yes, they sell the leads to that one, and that firm will distribute them to all advisors. I have had leads tell me that they would receive at least 2 calls a day from different people at that firm. Leads were frustrated by the time I was in contact (within 2 days if they answered). 2) They say they vet the leads... No. Sometimes there are bad phone numbers and email addresses, and others say, "I never filled anything out." 3) I had to pay for recycled leads. If someone fills out a form and then fills it out again after 90 days, yes, you get to pay for that lead again. I will never do business with them again.

I have been using SmartAsset for over 3 years and have grown my AUM by 10M year over year. It does take some time to build a solid pipeline and if you don’t have a good follow up other advisors will beat you. This product is best for tenured advisors that want to grind. Close rate is about 5% so if you don’t get enough leads or quit after a few months you won’t get the results. I was really surprised to see some of these reviews. But then again not too many successful advisors are going to seek a website out to right a stunning review. Only bad advisors that are bad at sales post negative reviews. Blame your process not the product.

The service is a waste of time and money. They say the referrals are vetted. However they are not. They also do not stand behind their word. They will take your cash and you will get nothing in return.

Offered information about RMDs, but turned out to be just a lead generator for financial advisors

I have been an Advisor for over 30 years. Many of my clients were passing away and I needed some additional clients to bolster my practice. I had used lead services one or twice before, but SmartAsset looked different. They weren't. After spending over $20k, the leads were terrible and the customer service was non-existent. I didn't close a single lead they provided, and I believe I paid for over 50.
