DO NOT TRUST THIS SERVICE, TERRIBLE MOVERS I HAVE SEEN SO FAR.

These people absolutely terrified and terrible, we wrapped and packed all stuff nicely but they messed it up, all boxes delivered very wet. Most of boxes damaged and mixed up with other people stuff.

I wouldn't use them again

I was initially booked for 3pm, then on the day of moving, they call to say they had an issue with the truck I'd booked and needed to move the moving time five hours ahead. They then broke the very thing that I had booked them to transport for me, and despite having made two requests, they still have not given me a receipt.

Unreliable company

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was extremely disappointing. Our move was booked for 10:00am and the team only showed up at 9:00pm.
During the day we were given multiple updates with constantly changing times. First there was a truck breakdown, then no availability until later, and then we were told they were waiting for a truck coming from another city. This went on for hours and left us stuck at home all day.
Rescheduling was suggested, but it wasn’t an option since we had to hand over the property that same day.
Although the movers did a good job when they finally arrived, the overall service was unreliable and very stressful. A full day wasted waiting is simply not acceptable.

WORST MOVING COMPANY IN NZ!!!!!!!!!

I had an extremely disappointing experience with Smart Movers and would not recommend them to anyone.

We booked a 10:00am–12:00pm arrival window for our move in Papakura Thursday 2nd April 2026. The movers didn’t show up until 12:30pm — already setting the day behind schedule. Only two movers arrived, and they worked very slowly the entire time. Communication was also a major issue, as there was a clear language barrier which made the whole process frustrating and inefficient.

They refused to carry drawers that were already taped shut and insisted I empty them completely, which wasted even more time. When moving large furniture down from the second floor, they caused significant damage to both the walls and the furniture. This damage ultimately cost us our bond.

Throughout the move, they repeatedly disappeared to the truck for long periods, often standing around talking instead of working. Their truck was also too small, meaning they couldn’t fit everything in one trip.

During the job, they even asked me to go and buy them coffee, promising it would be deducted from the final bill — it wasn’t.

The most concerning part was payment. With only around three-quarters of our belongings loaded and their undersized truck completely full; their boss called and the movers then pressured and intimidated me into paying the full projected amount upfront ($1362 for 9 hours) before the job was finished or they would empty the truck and leave me high and dry.

Because they arrived late, we were forced to travel during peak traffic, turning what should have been a 45-minute drive into nearly 2 hours — wasting more paid time.

I then had to help unload the truck myself, and despite paying for 9 hours, they left early at around 7:30pm. No refund was provided for the unused time, despite assurances that any overpayment would be refunded.

When my partner contacted the company to raise these issues, the owner was rude, dismissive, and dishonest — even blaming us and claiming we were wasting his time.

To make matters worse, their pricing is significantly higher than other moving companies, yet the service was completely unprofessional and inefficient. I ended up having to hire another truck myself to move the rest of our belongings that they left behind.

What should have been a straightforward move costing under $1000 ended up costing over $2000, plus the loss of our bond due to their damage. No invoice given either.

Avoid this company — unreliable, unprofessional, and not worth the money.

Had an overall bad experience with this…

Had an overall bad experience with this company, arrived 4 hours late without notice and was extremely difficult to get in contact with, when finally arrived they didn’t take all my furniture, broke my bed base and damaged the Lino in the house, then left 45 minutes earlier than time i had booked them for. really slack effort for the price I paid. Wouldn’t recommend.

Wouldn't take a lot of stuff

Wouldn't take a lot of stuff. Only took 1 TV. Wouldn't take bicycle. Wouldn't take loose stuff and bags. Had to spend an extra $100+ to get another movers.

Very good team and smooth move

Really happy with the service. The team was great, very friendly and packed our stuff with so much care. They made sure all the furniture was covered properly before loading. Everything arrived safe and sound. Big thanks to the boys! Highly recommend.
