If I could give this place no stars I will. This place will lie about everything to just get you in the door. Firstly I was told I would have transportation to and from work, that was a lie. Secondly they invade your privacy so much it’s sad. I couldn’t pay rent because I had to get rides back and forth to work do you know these people made me pull up my accounts to make sure I was not lying and my account was in the negative so that was embarrassing and degrading. Third we deep clean every sunday which is cool. They made us clean all of the cabinets it was food that expired from 2023, TWENTY TWENTY THREE which means these items were purchased or brung into the home in 2022. For them to be “faith-based” all they worry about is money and that’s not of God. It’s over priced, $300 a week, that’s $1200 a month and nothing is supplied. not even toilet paper. This is the worst place to ever come to. I would not recommend I would actually recommend to run very very fast and far from this place.

Mind you there is so much bad in-between the walls that I use to work for.
I want to begin by acknowledging that there are genuinely good people within SLA. I have met employees, staff members, directors, and residents who sincerely care about recovery and who have made a positive difference in people's lives. I will always recognize and appreciate those individuals. However, my experiences—particularly toward the end of 2025 and throughout 2026—have left me deeply concerned about certain aspects of the organization, especially professionalism, leadership, communication, and the balance between financial considerations and the organization's stated recovery mission. Over the years, I personally witnessed situations where residents who were already struggling financially were unable to remain in the program because they could not meet financial obligations. In some circumstances, leaving the program appeared to leave individuals with very limited options and, potentially, nowhere stable to go. From my perspective, that raises serious questions about how recovery organizations should balance financial sustainability with their responsibility to vulnerable individuals who are actively trying to rebuild their lives. I was terminated from employment following an allegation that I had taken another individual's wallet. My understanding later became that the item in question was actually an identification card. Regardless of the circumstances, the accusation had serious consequences for my employment and my relationship with the organization. At the time, I was also under the understanding that I remained connected to the program and was working toward obtaining employment, with the expectation that SLA would provide assistance in that process. From my perspective, that assistance did not materialize in the manner I had been led to believe it would. I subsequently filed for unemployment benefits. Following that decision, I felt that certain individuals within leadership became distant and unresponsive toward me. I perceived the situation as though I was being excluded or professionally blackballed. I cannot speak to anyone else's intentions, and I will not claim something I cannot prove. I never got it because they lied . The reginal director. At one point, I also began questioning whether race may have played a role in how I was treated. Again, I recognize the difference between an experience that raises a concern and evidence that establishes someone's motive. I am sharing my perception—not presenting an accusation as an established fact. My purpose in saying this is not revenge, retaliation, or an attempt to discredit everyone associated with SLA. Quite the opposite. I believe recovery housing is extremely important, and I know firsthand that structured sober living can save lives. That is precisely why I believe accountability matters. Organizations that serve people in recovery should be held to high standards of professionalism, transparency, fairness, compassion, and integrity. Residents and employees deserve to be treated with dignity, particularly when they are already navigating some of the most difficult periods of their lives. I am grateful for the people who genuinely helped me during my time with SLA. I am also grateful for the lessons I learned—even the difficult ones. But gratitude does not require silence. I can appreciate the good while still being honest about what I believe needs to improve. My intention is simply to share my experience, encourage accountability, and hopefully remind anyone involved in recovery services that the people being served must remain at the center of the mission. I simply believe that when something matters, we should have the courage to speak about it honestly—and the maturity to do so responsibly.This version keeps the seriousness and weight of what happened without making claims about individuals that could distract from your actual experiences. Bad place to go... period...

I have been in SLA for 21 months the new director Levi is implementing the structure and SLA guide lines is doing a stand up job performance and guest service Oliver as well the driver Timothy as well getting the clients to and from their job tickets as well as church..thank our regional director Scott Rainey is a man of God many of us could take notes from and implement his walk in soberty to help our lives so when we leave SLA we are able to help our family and love ones .. I was drunk, homeless, living in my car. I had destroyed my own life with drinking and isolating. Someone gave me a phone number and I called it. The man on the other end asked me if I was serious and would I go to ant lengths to achieve sobriety. I said yes. Not knowing what I was getting myself into. When I arrived at the campus the staff were extremely welcoming, the service I received was first class, their ethics were beyond reproach. The apartment I was put in was way cleaner than I thought a sober house would be like. Everyone was so friendly. SLA helped me find a job, taught me how to pay my bills, learn the difference between a want and a need. Most important, everyone helped keep me sober. I recommend SLA for anyone looking for some help.

This program gave me back my happiness peace and love for others and the true meaning of getting sober and remaining sober and you will be more confident and stable and mature dealing with the one and only SOBER LIVING AMERICA in my loud voice lol I'm happy

I was homeless, unemployed, and had no hope but SLA took me in and didn’t expect payment upfront. This program introduced me to the 12 steps and the fellowship of AA and most importantly the they lead me a relationship with God. I also didn’t have any food or clothing when I first came in and they helped with that. It didn’t stop with that but got me a job and took me to work, meetings, church, and the store daily. SLA helped to restore my hope not only in myself but the Heavenly Father. Today I have job I love, a relationship with my family, among so many others. SLA helped me find me and gave me hope, purpose, and a vision. I highly recommend this program to anyone who wants help. Thank you SLA!

Sober living America has helped me find my self and get my life back on on track. Before Sober Living America I was lost drinking my life away and almost lost my life. They helped me find a purpose to live for by connecting me with the 12 steps of AA and God Thank you!

SLA is life changing. They let me in with no money, helped me get employed. Plugged me into God, recovery, and a sober family. They taught me to laugh, love, and live. I would not be alive today without this wonderful program.

Devine intervention, this happened to me. I've been struggling with finding help and resources for Men, and I was at a AA meeting one day and a friend told me about SLA. I CALLED. They took me in and gave me HOPE. A place to live and resources for finding a job, we have structured living including addiction meetings, church, days out in the community "bowling, movies, eating" there's fellowship, brotherhood and family together to help you get back to A better life. This organization saved my life and gave me HOPE and purpose and I am blessed to have found my way here... Thanks so much 🙏

Sober living America is a scam!! The success rate of someone transitioning to life without them is non-existent. Danielle weis, the director of SLA -1 location in Charlotte NC is on drugs. She will talk down to you and use other addicts in the program to become her Intel within the program. Over the past 2 weeks over 20 people have been discharged for a number of allegations. Majority of them could never be proven by Ms. Weis. I asked for legal documentation as to why I was discharged and was flat out denied. An officer was called to the location after I returned to gather my belongings. Ms. Weis told individuals outside of the SLA program, that she was trying to find a way to discharge me. There was no way to determine what I had done when I had done absolutely nothing wrong. Other members of SLA confirmed the intentions of Ms. Weis. I reached out to Ms. Weis and staff to tell them I did not need their transportation and had my own. Ms. Weis took it upon herself to tell the temp agency, prior to speaking with me, that I had cancelled and therefore turned down the position. I found a position at working America as a canvasser to advocate for affordable housing in the North Carolina area. I also attend school and my major is Psychology. I never gave anyone a reason doubt my character and did everything required of me while I attended. Ms. Weis and Scott roberts are not at all what a sobriety center should represent in any way. Ms. Weis and Mr. Roberts use their power not to help, but bend it to their own advantage. Former employees of SLA seem to get special privileges whereas others are treated with no respect whatsoever. I have recorded individuals Ms. Weis has used as they take out their phone and attempt to record others such as myself. I was just told 3 days ago to call back to relocate to another SLA. Once it was learned that I filed a report on the director, when I called again, I was told I could never return to any SLA location. I have seen this woman take people back after she's claimed they sat in a apartment and smoked meth amphetamines all day. I have seen countless relationships being had with her own knowledge. Ms. Weis jumped in my face upon my arrival to get my things in front of 2 other witnesses that were also staying in the home. She stood in the living room jumping up and down hysterically screaming GET OUT!!! Over and over again. Ms. Weis also yelled "Oh my God you are so ratchet!!!" Ms. Weis had never heard me raise my voice up until that point. I was so taken back by the fact that a Director of a sober living program could be so unprofessional and appear so racist. Other members of the SLA program have made statements to myself and others that Ms. Weis may be using again along with her co worker Scott Roberts. I know of former members who never paid a dime towards rent and failed drug screens yet still managed to remain in the program. They are sabotaging members employment through any company not affiliated with SLA so you can remain under their umbrella never to reach your full potential so you stay helpless and prevent you from branching off on your own. If you want to get sober and stay that way this is definitely not the place for you. Stay far away and find a real treatment center. 12 steps their are just taken out of context and used only for their convenience. Ms. Weis has also been involved sexually with another former employee of SLA who is now a resident in the program as well. This woman is SLA's biggest downfall. If rent is only 1,000 to 2,000 a month with 5 - 6 individuals per Apt paying 300 a month, how is it that you can't even be provided with transportation to get to job not forced upon you by Ms. Weis. Not to mention the money they get for each individual per bed. Yet you still have to pay for all of your meals. The only time you will receive a ride from them is when it's something beneficial for them. She talks about others behind their backs and cares less about anyone's sobriety. I will be taking this a step further being that I was never provided any documents prior to my discharge nor was I provided with actual proof of the allegations by Ms. Weis and MR. Roberts. Whoever reads this I pray you find stability and sobriety but I can assure you, you won't find either of those things there.

All kinds of false advertisements of this place. They have people on staff who is still sick within. They didn't have therapy sessions with no one. On one of the advertisements they said they have licensed councilors which is false. I told the guys on staff that there is no way that I would allow them to classify themselves as being over me due to their spiritual sickness. My 5 years clean totally didn't have anything to do with those clowns. The program in Nashville can be classified as a relapse trigger as a whole. There have been situations that some have overdosed or just extremely high or drunk and couldn't get any of the so called staff members to answer the phone. One time a guy was high and would not move. One of the guys asked staff if they wanted him to call emergency and told the guy no because they already had so many emergency calls before. They didn't want want any problems from the apartments main office about the police, fire department and ambulances showing up at the program apartments. That man could have died. If a person want to be on staff at a drug treatment facility you are on call 24/7 because you never know what will happen. Larry Hill was once our director at one point till he relapsed, He came back to the program and the higher ups sent him straight to Chattanooga to be a director. How are you suppose to lead a group of guys to the right path when you are still sick?!! Staff losing their jobs because they've been getting in relationships with women in the program. Harboring men and women for labor. The main office at our so called campus only allowed white guys only in the apartment. The apartments are supposed to mixed up.The office housed guys that was clients also. In our apartment we always let the newcomers know if they come in our apartment drunk or high we are going to tell on them. A few people got kick out of our apartment due to being drunk or high. The director asked me if we had a cult going on in our apartment then I ask him if he was hosting a clan rally in the office. Very serious about my clean time. I can go on and on about what I've seen at that place.

EVERYTHING WENT WRONG ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS THE MONEY NOT HELPING ANYONE THERE SERVICE AND THE PEOPLE THAT WORK HERE ARE RUDE AS HELL AND SMARTASSES TO THE CLIENTS I'M LEAVING THIS FACILITY ASAP IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO COME HERE DON'T IT'S A RIP OFF BAD AND YOU WILL RELAPSE. LIKE I SAID BEFORE IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY NOTHING ELSE.

This is a terrible program that cares about their bottom line. I escaped. If you haven't gone, don't. There are better sober living situations. Almost any. If you go you will get stuck an most likely be miserable. I'm so grateful I got out! There are so many details to list. I'll just ask you to ask yourself if beeing fully self supporting is a part of recovery? The rent is much higher than any other sober living situation you will find. They will find u a low wage job working long hours. They will give u a ride three hours before your shift begins and make you wait at least an hour after the shift ends. People are miserable because they have time for nothing else and can't save anything. The apartments are infested with mice and roaches. Their clients are mean to each other because they are miserable. Some of the male staff prey on the young female clients. They ask them to lie about their sobriety! Don't go! Its a scam and a trap! You deserve to recover and SLA makes it near impossible.

I can’t say enough great things about Sober Living of America in Dallas. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed, supported, and genuinely cared for. The staff is incredibly compassionate, knowledgeable, and dedicated to helping residents succeed in their recovery journey.

The structure and accountability they provide make a huge difference, while still giving you the independence needed to rebuild your life. The homes are clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, creating a safe and positive environment to grow in.

What really stood out to me was the sense of community. Everyone is encouraged to support one another, and that made a huge impact on my experience. It’s not just a place to stay—it’s a place where real transformation happens.

If you or a loved one is looking for a sober living program in Dallas, I highly recommend Sober Living of America. It truly changed my life for the better.

I tell you if you want great service and great therapy and great care this is the place for you. I'm well taken care of at this facility. The entire staff have real life experience in addiction, it is a 12-step program that believes in the higher power. And I found my higher power there which is God and I hope you do too. Don't leave before the miracle happens. Stick and stay and may God bless you.

My experience at the Sober Living America Greensboro campus has been overwhelmingly negative, and I feel it’s important to share what I encountered so others can make an informed decision. I came here expecting a structured, supportive environment focused on sobriety, but what I found was far from that.

The program is extremely disorganized. Communication is inconsistent, and important needs often go unaddressed for long periods of time. In my experience, follow‑through on basic requests was unreliable, and it created a lot of unnecessary stress during a time when stability should be a priority.

The living conditions were also disappointing. The apartments were in noticeably dilapidated condition, with outdated or damaged furniture and a general lack of upkeep. These are not minor issues — they directly affect comfort, safety, and overall well‑being.

The staff, including leadership under Rick Gagnon, did not demonstrate the professionalism or accountability I expected from a program that advertises itself as a place for recovery. In my personal experience, communication was poor, promises were made but not fulfilled, and concerns were not taken seriously. When you’re trying to rebuild your life, that kind of inconsistency can be incredibly discouraging.

If you are truly seeking sobriety and a stable, supportive environment, I would strongly recommend being cautious with this particular campus. My hope is that sharing my experience will help others avoid the same frustrations and find a program that genuinely supports their recovery.

Sober Living America has really helped me. They took me in without having any money and they helped me find a job. They have given me so much support when it comes to my sobriety and I couldn’t be more grateful.

The place is not about keeping people sober nor does it care about you using. Money is the most important thing and that's it. So if you want to keep getting drunk and high and keep a roof over your head this is the place for you.
