UCO Bank, congratulations on making one of the simplest banking activities an absolute nightmare.
My account was blocked without prior intimation or any clear explanation. I spent TWO DAYS trying to get this resolved through your online grievance redressal desk. The response? Repeated template messages asking me to share details I'd already provided, or call customer care or visit my home branch.
Customer care has no straightforward option to speak to an actual human being. So, after two days of getting absolutely nowhere, I gave up and visited your 16th Main branch.
And what a spectacular experience that turned out to be.
First, apparently, reactivating an account takes an HOUR. Then comes the physical form-filling exercise. Once that's done, you get the privilege of sitting and waiting while employees finish their own work before bothering to attend to customers who are already waiting. Because apparently, the employees' tasks cannot wait, but customers certainly can.
And the best part? I'm medically unwell, sitting in your branch, waiting to access MY OWN MONEY. Money that I should never have had to fight this hard to access in the first place.
Let's recap:
- 2 days wasted chasing the grievance desk.
- No meaningful response or resolution.
- No accessible customer care representative.
- An unnecessary branch visit.
- An hour-long reactivation process.
- Physical paperwork and more waiting.
- Absolutely no sense of urgency or customer empathy.
All this just to access my own bank account.
A suggestion to UCO Bank:
Before launching more banking services or talking about customer experience, perhaps start with the basics. Train your employees to respect customers' time, make grievance redressal functional, provide accessible customer support and stop treating people seeking access to their own money as an inconvenience.
I am closing this account the moment my funds are transferred out. I have absolutely no intention of continuing a banking relationship with an institution that has demonstrated such disregard for its customers.
And to anyone considering opening an account here: PLEASE SAVE YOURSELVES.
A bank is supposed to safeguard your money and make it accessible. At UCO Bank, apparently, you need patience, multiple escalations, physical paperwork and a whole lot of luck just to get that privilege.
You haven't just lost my trust. You've made sure I will actively discourage others from placing theirs in you.
