Terrible customer service ever since Sykes Cottages took over

They have lost hundreds of listings ever since the take over around October last year

They treat owners with complete disrespect, the customer service is appalling, you have no control over your bookings now like on the previous system, nothing works, they don’t respond to messages, don’t return phone calls and taken control of pricing.

No wonder they have lost a significant number of caravan listings

DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY. AVOID AVOID AVOID.

I’m clearly not alone, just read some of the other owners reviews, and it’s all since Sykes took over! Shocking company, shocking service, shocking system.

I’ve removed all my listing. Use Airbnb instead, much better customer service, full control and they actually reply to messages!

Be careful as they can bump up price.

Booked a van on the website at the weekend at the agreed price and 2 days later wanting to increase the price by £100……possibly be the last van I book using these.

Horrendous now Sykes have taken over

After reading other owners reviews!!
Its horrendous now Sykes Cottages have taken over,
I am a Caravan Owner and rented succesfully through ukcaravans4hire with no issues at all but now .Sykes cottages have now taken over everything has gone down hill drastically. Towards the back end of 2025 they changed the ukcaravans4hire website and took complete control of our pricing. Before we as owners set the price we wanted per break/ getaway, now Skyes set this and we have no control of any bookings and pricing,this has gone extremely TOO CHEAP and coincidently since this change I have had to personally block book our Van! OR CANCEL BOOKINGS !!

SYKES THANK YOU FOR YOUR RESPONSE BELOW

For 2 month we worked with the PRICING SPECIALIST TEAM but to no avail! We sent you our day/monthly pricing for the year but you changed them sometimes halving the cost by 50%..The team was helpful and lovely. Personally i think its the system at fault!
when our van indicated available, you booked it at your own pricing.
We could cancel at a cost of £75? ..

Hi Eric - The Sykes revenue management team do indeed have a team of specialists who manage the pricing of properties to maximise rental opportunities, but this doesn't mean they have total control. If you are not happy with any of the prices set, you simply need to contact the pricing team via your owner portal. If you log in and click on the Pricing link, you'll find their telephone number.

Booked a caravan at sandy bay only for it to be cancelled a few weeks later.We have asked for our deposit back a number of times but have had no response from them and no refund of our deposit.We are in the process of taking out a county court judgement against them.Stay well away from them,We are not the only ones in this position,we will update the situation as the court action starts.We will also do reviews on any review sites we can find until we get our money back.

Was to be our first holiday with our doggy

Booked a holiday for next year and paid a deposit with this company only to have it cancelled within 2 weeks so I contacted them with an alternative property on the same site which they transferred all our payments and dates over to it. Only to have it cancelled again within a month when I asked why they told me the owners wanted to put the prices up so our booking was cancelled which I think.is bang out of order. If you have booked and paid your deposit its like a contract and should be honoured. Greedy owners and shame on uk caravans 4 hire for letting them do it will not be recommending them. To avoid disappointment do not book with this site

Awful Now Sykes Have Taken Over

I am a caravan owner who used to rent through ukcaravans4hire. Sykes cottages have now taken over and everything has gone down hill drastically. Towards the back end of 2025 they changed the ukcaravans4hire website and took complete control of our pricing. Before we as owners set the price we wanted per break, now Skyes set this and we can't control it. This means that the pricing has gone extremely expensive and coincidently since this change I have not received 1 booking! Through the same period in previous years before this change I always received bookings. Ultimately the prices they set are considerably more than booking directly through Haven. I have now cancelled my listing which is a shame as I had many good years before this change. The website also now lacks basic options, it's gone back in time and like the website was designed by a complete novice. Such as the filters, you can search by specific park, but then you can't search the specific dates that you want or filter lowest to highest as it then defaults to the county. To search for specific dates you have to search by area/county and not by specific park. I am not surprised why there's no bookings. It's as if someone has specifically done this to ruin the site!!!

Awful experience and they didn’t care

When we arrived at our accommodation there was no key code, no directions to the accommodation, nothing.
Contacted the out of hours who answered after 30 mins who said they didn’t have any of the details for how to get into the property on file and couldn’t get hold of the owner. Was told to give it an hour and if contact hadn’t been made to call them back before they closed. Called back an hour before they were due to close to have no one answer the phone.
The emergency number didn’t work.
Then had to book into a hotel as we were stranded with 2 young children and a dog at night.
Contacted them the next day to try and organise somewhere else to stay to be given options that didn’t match anything we needed and even got offered no pet accommodation.
They couldn’t have given less of a damn if they had tried.
I had to ask for a refund and had 2 very upset children.
Found somewhere else to stay but are very much out of pocket now and not even a proper reply to my complaint apart from we have refunded you.
Not impressed in the slightest and caused much stress at a time when we were trying to get away to get away from stress!

Scammers beware!!

Booked a caravan for April 2026.. Owner then contacted me a day later wanting to increase the price by £250. Contacted caravans 4 hire had no response as to they will investigate. No further response. Have now lost my money and the owners are now in pocket. Beware they are letting scammers advertise on this site and doing nothing to address it!!!

Easy to book

Easy to book. Good communication, especially as our booking was during a period of transition for the company. Direct communication with owners of the Lodge we booked (Roy) was superb. Will use this company and location again in the future.

Do NOT book through them. If I could give them negative stars I would. Before the Sykes takeover everything was great, but the way they now treat owners is terrible. The platform to manage your listing is shocking, it’s so bad that you cannot manage the listing yourself. Everything is done through them when they be bothered to answer the phone or respond to messages. Awful is an understatement.

Owner experience through Sykes UKCaravan4Hire website

As an owner the transition to Sykes has been a disaster. The website is poor. Options are limited. Sykes has sought to take control of what owners can do with the listings.
I read many comments here from owners and guests and sympathise with them all. As an owner I had to hide all availability as soon as the transition happened as I could not control the availability calendar which had not transitioned the existing availability calendar correctly to the new platform.
That itself proved to be very painful and difficult.
I did manage to reach Sykes and continue to await a return call from them to resolve a number of issues - none received after a month of waiting.
I have since sent a message requesting to be delisted. This is being ignored.
We are still trying to take our caravan details off the new Sykes website but cannot get a response from them. fortunately we have managed to hide it from view to avoid double booking requests.
The transition has been very badly managed. The website has very limited administrative capability. In fact Sykes have sought to take a lot of control away from owners. I understand many are disappointed and frustrated with the new site.
Sykes are also seeking to take a lot of control away from owners and dictate how owners control their listings and pricing etc..
The UKcaravans4hire Company that sold their company seem to have abandoned caravan owners.
It is saddening to read the bad experience guests have had booking through the new Sykes platform. There are other sites to book through which provide a much better direct owner experience for guests. I recommend contact through those sites.

Very poor

The system now since they changed web page and totally controlled by Skyes it's a disaster of a system it's none owner friendly and there cancellation charges and terms are shocking as the want full control so owners can't really use there own caravans keep away from this platform is you are a owner wanting to rent out. sadely at them until they sort out there issues with way they operate with renters we wont be returning we already removed out adert

It's not quite right that Sykes wants full control and restricting owner's personal use - we only ask for a minimum of 5 weeks of availability for us to sell for you throughout the entire season - the remaining 40+ weeks you have total control over. Terrible website

Terrible website. Advertises places that aren’t available, only to notify you once you’ve paid your deposit. I’m not the only one, same issue with friends who have used the site. And good luck trying to get hold of someone for a refund. Almost 2 months after paying and still waiting for my refund.

Disappointed customer

Caravan booked via these people/sykes cottages (related company)
Booked for Mon 27th and received an email on Thurs 23rdevening cancelling this. Disappointing as I had chased up the week before where to collect keys, then on the Mon to be told leave it until Thurs 3 days before we were due to arrive we should be contacted (I did get a little suspicious and asked if this was a legit caravan) to then receive an email late at night to say cancelled.
Grandkids so upset.
Not sure if caravan owners are checked out properly before advertising.

Wouldnt even give 1 star if didn't have to! Made a booking at the weekend for today (24th Oct) paid in full received the confirmation which stated to contact the owner for key. This is when we realised there was no info on the owner. After a rigmarole I eventually got through to Uk Caravans and explained, they said they would email owner, after still no contact from owner rang again Tuesday, lady left vmail an re emailed, still nothing, rang Wed, put through to Sykes was told the Owners were Verified, been with UKCaravans for a few years and do not have to give any info until an 1hr before check in. Explained I understand that but would be common courtesy to at least drop us an email to reassure us it wasn't a scam, said we would wait but if any problems come today then I would take things further as I have been ringing for days with my concerns. Yesterday at 15.53 we receive an email from UKCaravans to inform us that our holiday has been cancelled due to the dates now being unavailable! Sent my husband alternative accommodation links (as if we would even book through them again!) Yet when rang for refund this morning the refund had already been processed. When you ring your on hold trying to get through for at least 20mins at a time, Whatsapp that they advertise on their site is non exsistant I had to google one for Sykes and they dont even open them let alone reply absolute sham of a company and will never use again.
