Then went through Nationwide for them to connect me,answered all the security questions and I'm still waiting 45 minutes and still holding

Made a claim for quarantine hotel as caught covid in Berlin. They would not cover food costs as charged by hotel but I could not leave the room for 6 days nor order in. The food was integral to the package. And inedible btw. Also took ages / time and effort - 94 pieces of evidence uploaded - every five days asked for more then took 5 days to process it. Anyway, cancelled my £13 pm flex plus account. Will find a better insurer.
Hard to get through to but good service when I did ...
I originally left a negative review as it was an ordeal to get through to them. Having done that today, they claims was settled and paid within an hour of me calling. So credit where it's due...
What an awful company I’m now going to…
What an awful company I’m now going to the ombudsman. They tell you that they will cover your claim and then do a i turn. One of the worst companies I’ve ever dealt with. Wasn’t well enough to fly home for treatment had to get it abroad but would not cover me. Different excuses constantly do not use this company unempathetic, no ci distant policy awful to deal with!!!
VERY poor service
I took out insurance on property under offer and said I was expecting sale to go through in a matter of days I was told just to get in touch when sale went through to cancel It has proved impossible to get through to discuss this only answer machine message saying leave a message and someone will ring back Left 3 messages NO CALL BACK! Sent 3 e mails NO REPLY!

They lied
They lied, Bad company ,pure costumer service they can collect the information right, I make claim 2018, after that they tried to find the reason to not pay the claim, they cancel my insurance because they say I was lied where I am working, I did missed any payment. After they report me for fraud of lied of information on police it’s the worst insurance I ever had. I will take him to the court. Don’t recommend any one.
Bullied & Harassed me!
This company is dreadful do not buy holiday insurance from them. I have a holiday cottage and my visitors cancelled due to the Covid lockdown in Apr 2020. I gave a letter for my holidaymaker to claim. UK insurance phoned me and proceeded to try to bully and harass me into saying I cancelled the booking and had to pay which I hadn’t. I felt so stressed and upset! A company should not be allowed to treat people like this. They refused to pay out but my holiday maker took them to the Ombudsman and got a ruling in their favour. Delighted that justice has happened at last. So if they give you the run around as well go to the ombudsman. They should not be allowed to get away with this behaviour!

We ended up stuck abroad after Ryanair cancelled our return flight to Scotland. We had Flexplus travel Insurance through UK Insurance, and needed to extend the cover for a longer period. They were extremely helpful, especially Hugo Bozzoni, the repatriation consultant, who was very patient, and thorough exploring all options to get us home. Eventually they succeeded in getting us a flight back to Luton, from where we drove back to Scotland. They refunded the hire car costs within a week of my submitting the claim. All in all an excellent service I cannot recommend them highly enough, they were so helpful during what turned out to be a worrying and stressful few weeks.
Appalling company...Avoid!
Appalling company...Avoid!. Again, this Company will make your life a complete misery...
Their whole system is designed to make you give up.
So for example they never recognise information already sent to them when they ask for further information....
No form is ever prefilled and each time you are required to go through the whole process just to send a small piece of information...
What you need to watch is that other insurance companies use them under umbrella arrangements so really important to ask a travel company whether they use UK Insurance as their travel insurance company.
Remember Sunday Times said it was pretty much just an awfull company....

Drainage problem !?
UK Ins /Direct Line sent their appointed surveyor.
Said I had claim.(not told)
Two weeks later another of their appointed surveyors said no claim.
I was sent this survey.
I asked to see first survey.
Their claims handler procrastinated, denied knowledge , mentioned data protection and then redaction required.
Said could not send as file too big....
Post it????
She then sent her pasted email which left out the conclusion!!??
After about a persistent month I got the first survey which indicated this dishonest deception and lies.
Complained to DL and the CEO.
They said she did nothing wrong which highlights the corporate culture to avoid honouring claims by deceit and deception.
You only find out how good your insurance company is when you make a claim....so dishonest! !!
Terrible company
Not impressed one bit...kept asking for document after document which I had already uploaded. I had to deal with extremely rude staff who basically told me that they were not paying out and that I had to go and pursue the holiday company again. Explained over and over that we had already been down this route and that the holiday company were refusing to pay. We also tried ABTA but the holiday company then cancelled their membership and ABTA refused to assist any further. Last resort was to claim on insurance, this company were an absolutely nightmare to deal with. Staff were so unhelpful. I ended up logging a complaint and threatening them with the ombudsman. Then a few days later someone called me and agreed that they hadn't dealt with my claim in the best way, and that she would refer everything to their legal team, lo and behold a couple of days later they settled the claim. Also paid me compensation for the way their staff spoke to and treated me. Don't give up they have to pay and will once they realise you are not going to go away. However they will throw everything at you to get out of it, you just have to be persistent.
Don't use UKInsurance
Don't use UKInsurance, 'appalling' doesn't do them justice. I claimed 3K for a ski chalet cancellation , and they have given me the runaround for 10 months asking for information, which I supplied. Each time there was massive delay. Initially they said I couldnt show I had paid the age related supplement, which I proved I did. There was no way of contacting them by a direct phone number or email, and one could only attach a file in response to their email, not actually write an email. They then said I had to resubmit all the info in a different format. Penultimately they said I I had to claim from the chalet agent in view of the Package tour regulations, whereupon I pointed out it was not a package holiday. Their final response was that, anyway, I should take legal action (in the Austrian Courts!) against the chalet agent, so all the BS of the last 10 months was just to grind me down. Well, I am now onto the Ombudsman, it is clear from the policy that I am covered for cancellations and they won't get away with this.
Absolutely disgraceful company
Absolutely disgraceful company. Like others reviews all this company do is keep delaying your claim by sending more and more emails asking fir more and more information. They have obviously got no intention of paying out on my valid claim so I am going to be taking legal action . Nationwide building society are also at fault by taking £13 a month for an account where you are supposed to be covered for travel .
I’m claiming for a cancelled trip due to Covid. Iv researched my rights and I’m 100% sure that my claim is valid but these criminals just keep persistently asking for more information that they have already been given by recorded post and by uploading direct to their office.
This whole charade has made me ill and I am not prepared to let them get away with it.
The ombudsman is my next step.
Do not use this company and certainly do not pay for the Nationwide account to cover travel insurance.
I dread to think what situation you could be left with if you had an accident abroad and needed hospital treatment. My life in these irresponsible peoples hands. No ThankYou.
Natitionwide Flex plus insurance
Absolute con merchants which Nationwide peddle with their flex plus currents accounts. Try making a claim and they will just keep asking you questions via email and everytime you answer them they send another series of questions and push you to the point of giving up and stressing you out for a claim which is so simple. Avoid and pay a bit more or do your research and get an honest company to cover you.
Very disappointed.
Like others here, very disappointed with their travel insurance. Haven't paid out in 7 months and are now forcing me to take legal action against the travel providers when it should have been covered by the policy. The whole process has wasted hours of my time.

Do not deal with this company. They are cheats and charlatans and will use any means to avoid meeting their obligations. Please warn your friends and relatives not to insure with them - if they do they will be chucking their money down a deep drain.
Terrible service, do not use!
Terrible service - took them over 4 months to resolve a simple travel claim. Basically we were in Oxford for the weekend and had travelled by train, then due to a big storm on the Sunday we were unable to get home and had to hire a car. First of all UKinsurance said we weren't covered for this at all, then after another couple of phone calls they agreed we could make a claim, but not for the hire car charges, only for an allowance per hour we were delayed. To cut a long story short it took repeated calls and emails going back and forward where the company tried everything to avoid a resolution, asking us to prove the train was delayed and by how much (we had to contact the train company more than once). We had to do all the work & they had to be prompted to respond to any communications. In the end we got back about half the cost of the car hire so were out of pocket.
I dread to think how UKinsurance would deal with a more complicated claim. Do not rely on this insurance at all! We won't be using it again.

Once again UK Insurance and their promoters Nationwide Buiding Society take the biscuit for utter incompetence and lack of any kind of meaningful communication. This insurance can only be described as total rip off and you should avoid taking it out. There must be thousands of UK Banking customers who are relying on worthless cover. In total frustration at their intransigence and lack of communication, I have now written to the Financial Ombudsman asking them to investigate UK Insurance and advise whether Nationwide Building Society whom promote and market the insurance product but take no responsibility whatsoever for their customer engagement are fit for purpose.
