After reading the advertising blurb I just knew this is a scam. Read the reviews! It is a scam. Sadly people are gullible

This ‘device’ is a TOTAL SCAM.
Amazon, Ebay and Google should have legal action taken against them for promoting this ‘plug with an LED’ in it. Their advertising talks about power factor correction, IN NO WAY WHATSOEVER WILL THIS REDUCE YOUR electricity bill!!! These people are THIEVES!!! Be aware!!!

Sorry, I can see it's a total scam and not even thinking of buying one..
Why is this crap still allowed to be advertised on here..I see it all over the place.
TOTAL SCAM.

I purchased one of these for testing and teardown purposes.
First test was check current usage of an electric heater at the Voltage supplied: (241V, 10.3A), convert to power 2,482.3 Watts or 2.4823 kW.
Plugged in the Voltmod and switched the socket on.
Surprise surprise, the readings did not change!
What does this mean?
Well, here in the UK we are charged on the Wattage we use, in kWh or kiloWatthour(s). As there was no change to the kW figure there would be 0% saving.
OK a heater is a purely resistive load, so I'll try the vacuum cleaner, an inductive load. I won't go into the figures but I will state that there was NO CHANGE.
I took the "device" apart to discover its secrets.
A large capacitor across Live and Neutral and a few discreet components to make it light up so you think it is working.
The capacitor will make a difference ONLY if you're using inductive loads by aligning the power to the actual sinewave (power factor correction) which, at the moment anyway, households are not charged for. The only other benefit of putting a capacitor across the mains is to reduce interference, again something we are not being charged for! A bigger downside is that the nice little "I'm saving you money" light is actually costing you money! Not much I'll admit but it adds up over time, I didn't measure the current draw of it but an LED takes say 30mA to light up, x24 (hours a day) x365 (days a year) is 2,628A x241 (Voltage to get the power) ends up as 633,348W or 633.348 kW extra on your bill in the course of a year!!

Bottom line, to save money on electricity:
1 switch off or unplug things you're not using.
2 change incandescent or compact fluorescent light bulbs for lower powered LED types
3 use an air fryer instead of an oven.
4 if on a "timed" type of tariff do the most you can at off peak rates (washing, dishwasher phone/tablet charging etc.)
5 DO NOT BUY THIS USELESS (at time of review) PRODUCT!!

I tried to find out from them how this thing works but my comment was quickly removed from their review site.
Years ago, there used to be devices on market stalls claiming to boost your TV signal.
Most of them were junk components salvaged from all sorts of electrical equipment.
I can also remember some advice that rubbing chicken droppings in your hair cured baldness.
Of course, none of them worked.
This is the modern equivalent.
I'm not an electrical engineer but I'm not daft either.
A lot of claims how Nikolas Tesla (real person) sort of invented this and some fancy graphs to prove it.
As someone else pointed out, the only remotely factual bit of this is something called Power Factor Correction (PFC).
VoltMod don't mention it, but the graphs are supposed to show it.
Some heavy industrial equipment by the way it works does need PFC, indeed power supply companies can insist on it, but even if it worked, most householders on a simple single phase supply without a shed full of heavy electrical equipment, wouldn't need it and would get no benefit.
Plugging this in next to your consumer unit isn't going to halve your electrical energy usage.
You would be better off changing a few lamp to LED types.
If this thing was so well researched and manufactured, they might at least say it carried some certification markings.
For inquisitive types, it might be worth opening one up, but don't electrocute yourself or burn your house down.

... to fall for this blatant scam. There is a GOOD REASON they don't sell this on eBay or Amazon, because those marketplaces protect buyers - this company wouldn't make a penny as everyone would be refunding.

At the bottom of their advert:

"ANY PHOTOGRAPHS OF PERSONS USED ON THIS SITE ARE MODELS." - i.e. all of the so called comments there from social media accounts are FAKE.

I dont own or use one but i feel the need to comment on it this is not a negative review but has anyone noticed that almost all of the negative reviews are from November? all these negative reviews are put close together oh and also electricians want your devices to break there the ones that get paid to fix them everyone posting negative reviews most of them have never owned one personally i dont know if its a scam or not but this is to make sure that if it is a real product that works then i dont want people to miss out or suffer for this now let me make this clear i have not been paid to write this genuinely im just sitting on my couch reading negative reviews so buy before you reply ( i stole that from a good comment its catchy)

Would give 0 stars if I could. Its a scam ... as a degree level physicist I can confirm there's no way it could possibly work.

If tempted to buy ask someone knowledgable that you trust for their informed opinion.

As a retired electrical power engineer I was interested in how they tried to explain how this devise worked. At one point in my career I sold Power factor correction and harmonic filters to large industrial consumers. The so called technology used to describe the so called energy saving is loosely based on these aspects of electrical power. Domestic supplies are charged for Kilowatts and not volt amps as for some industrial consumers. Consequently your power factor is of no consequence and any harmonics on the sinusoidal waveform will have absolutely no affect. Motors is devises such as vacuum cleaners washing machines lawn mowers do require inductive power but you get that for free because you meter cannot measure it. As for the suggestion that you do not know what you will be charged well just look at you tariff details and it is absolutely clear. Price comparison web sites are not perfect but they do work. If you are not sure of what your consumption figures are just get a friend who does understand it to help you.

Found the advert while browsing the web, claiming to save 90% on my electricity. It is of course a complete scam, don't be taken in. Any positive reviews on here are fake, the product cannot possibly work (from an engineering point of view)

After having a Voltmod for a month and bear in mind it's getting colder.
My electric has drastically reduced. i I have 3 of these.
Based on the negative reviews I feel.a Cambridge Analytica conspiracy behind the negative post of people who have not bought one.
If your going to leave a negative review at least make it based. On your own evidence not properganda you are being fed. 100% thumbs up to this as for me it works. I also run a hot tub. Again usage in electric half. What it was.

Having studied electrical engineering there used to be a situation where overly inductive loading could cause excessive measured electricity due to what we call the phase angle between the current and voltage. Home meters dont work like that and the change would be insignificant to the home owner. It is is true that this does affect large companies but all they need is a capacitive load of the correct value. Putting random capacitors in your home will affect your fire risk more than the electric Bills.

It's the travelling snake oil scam, the only thing that this will save his your money if you don't get reeled in.

I lecture in Electrical Engineering and as someone has mentioned, it's a vermin deflector repackage as a miracle energy saving device, these scammers need whipping in the town square for such utter lies.

It's claims are a scientific impossibility, it's digusting that publications like the Daily Mail are allowing them to advertise!

The intro says Takes UK by storm. I presume there is proof of this statement. After reading some reviews I certainly will not be buying one.

Not certain if this is a scam or not. I'm not an electrical engineer but when raising it with a friend who is he was very sceptical.
ALSO, when I tried to buy one (so I could check it out fully and then correctly review it) the 'system' didnt like it and the transaction 'froze'. When I contacted their customer services I found that there was a recorded message saying that they were experiencing delays due to the number of phone calls - and then you were simply cut off
I finally used their 'chat' system and a person (Jose ?) checked and confirmed that the transaction hadn't proceeded - he then said I should clear the history on my pc (dont know why - never been asked to do this before!)
I have to admit that I remain sceptical as f what is claimed for this device is true then I would suggest that the UK government would be providing them free of charge - it would be a lot cheaper than paying £60 a month for the next six months to 20M households to reduce energy charges AND ordering new nuclear power stations costing £billions

Who needs experience to realise that this is a scam. The inventors didn't manage to persuade me to purchase this thing, simply because they didn't manage to explain how the energy is saved........

This is clearly a scam. I don't need to buy one to with it out. The only 5 star reviewer says he is suspicious that people give 1 star reviews without buying them, but it is very simple: there are red flags every where.

1. Your cannot leave a review at their website, try it, it disappears as soon as you reload the site.
2. The physics and engineering are incorrect.
3. Their review don't match the real winner reviews.
4. They say it starts to work after a few months, but it either if it doesn't. This is just a way to keep customer from commissioning.

Their claim of 90% savings are impossible.

If this was good there either be millions worldwide, everyone would be raving about it.

Can anyone be that gullible..?
The physics would never make sense to get extra energy from the same source…!

Just report the scam if you can be bothered…I can’t, and I won’t give it anymore of my time.
