Defekte Platten statt NeuWare nach Garantie

Der Kundenservice ist inzwischen unterirdisch.

Wir sendeten ein Platte mit Garantieanspruch ein. Versandkosten 23 Euro, da WD inzwischen in der Tschechei sitzt. Zurückbekommen haben wir eine defekte Platte. Diese wurde per gelieferten RMA Ticket eingesendet und wieder ausgetauscht. Auch die neue Platte war wieder defekt und erzeugt Brummgeräusche.
Jetzt kommt die Krönung, unsere Visakarte wurde mit dem RM Ticket belastet. Somit haben wir wieder 23 Euro Versandkosten bezahlt.
Es erfolgt keinerlei Einsicht, da ja der Fehler bei Western Digital liegt. Es kann doch nicht sein, dass man die Versandkosten, zumal überteuert, bei Fehlern, die seitens des Herstellers liegen, bezahlt.

Wir persönlich werden NIE WIEDER bei diesem Hersteller bzw. Produkte von diesem Hersteller kaufen. Und ein Stern ist für diese Firma, die wir seit 1992 kennen, noch zu viel.

Die jetzige Platte können wir jetzt als Briefbeschwerer nutzen.

Leider kann ich keine 0 Sterne vergeben. Support ist völlig unterirdisch. Man wird von einer Stelle zur anderen Stelle verwiesen. Wirkliche Hilfe bleibt aus. Ich weiß noch nicht was ich mache. Vermutlich nehme ich den dicken Hammer.

WD Elements SE SSD documentation

I bought a WD Elements Portable External SSD - 1 TB from Currys on 25 May 2025. It came with one sheet of paper about 34cm by 42cm containing 6 columns of extremely tiny print. In order to read it I had to scan it so that I could zoom the text to a readable size. Then I found it only contained contact details and warranty information. I found a 2 page document on their web site which contains virtually no information, although it did say that it was formatted exFAT. I cannot find its power requirements anywhere.
Since my Humax box doesn't support exFAT, I had to reformat the drive as FAT32. This was a struggle because Windows said it was too big for FAT32. I used CompuApps SwissKnife V3 to format it as FAT32.
I am using it to backup my Humax and to transfer files between my Humax and my PC. It does seem to be working OK at the moment.

Sold a bad disk, would only replace it with a refurb.

Bought a disk that immediately failed, they wouldn't replace it with a new disk. All they would do is send me a refurbished disk of the same size from A DIFFERENT PRODUCT LINE! And they wouldn't ship even that until they had received my return. Not to mention that I had to call them and tell them that they had received my return as they apparently hadn't figured that out for themselves. Will not do business with them again.

Can’t connect to my accounts

Can’t connect to my accounts, without them can’t use my drives, can’t do password reset, dose not send password reset prompts, I have 16TB of bricks of lost data I need it now!!! No support, nothing, I am f__ng mad!!!!

Garantie et retour très complexes.

Sujet règlé mi Juin 2025 par l'envoi d'un disque de remplacement. Long et fastidieux > 2 étoiles

Demande de garantie - la commence les galères
Mars 2025. Achat de 2 disques durs de 4Go pour mon NAS.
Au montage l’un d’entre eux se trouve être défectueux - ça peut arriver.
Demande de garantie - retour du produit sous 2 semaines. Tracasserie qqs jours après le retour pour obtenir des documents non demandé lors du retour.
Échange de mails puis plus rien.
Fin main2025. Plus aucune nouvelle plus de réponse aux mails. Ou est passé le support western Digital ?

Their products are absolute garbage.

Don't ever buy anything from Western Digital. Their products are absolute garbage.

One of their drives failed after a short period so they sent another under warranty and this failed immediately!

If you value your data or privacy avoid all Western Digital products!

Unterirdischer Kundensupport, der nichts macht

Der Kundensupport lässt einen warten und textet die Kunden mit Hohlphrasen voll. Ich habe noch nie einen so unfähigen Support erlebt wie dort! Das scheint Methode zu haben, offenbar sind dort nur Mitarbeitende eingestellt, die inhaltlich nicht wissen, was sie tun. Sie stellen völlig unsinnige Fragen, die mit dem eigentlichen Problem nichts zu tun haben; die Frage des Kunden wird völlig ignoriert. Ich kann daher nur von Geschäften mit WD abraten, es gibt andere Hersteller. Außerdem kursieren gerade viele Fälschungen auf dem Markt und WD tut nichts dagegen, diese zu identifizieren. Der Kunde wird also völlig alleine gelassen.

Première expérience réussi avec WD

Malgré les nombreux avis négatifs très dissuasifs, j'ai tout de même décidé de faire confiance à Western Digital et de leur ai acheté 2 disques dur 16To en promo pour 663,98Eur.
Un imprévu m'a contraint de revoir mes priorités;
Dans mon malheur, j'ai eu de la chance que mon lave-linge tombe en panne pendant la période de rétractation des disques durs achetés.
J'ai pu gérer cet imprévu et me désister auprès de WD. Ces derniers m'ont transmis un bon de retour qui m'a permis de renvoyer gratuitement ma commande. Bien que l'emballage d'origine ait été ouvert, mon remboursement m'est parvenu 2 semaines plus tard intégralement.
Mon avis ne sert pas à contredire les avis précédents mais juste pour témoigner de ma bonne expérience que j'ai eu avec eux.

SENT A FAULTY MY PASSPORT HDD PORTABLE HARD DRIVE BACK TO SWINDON OVER THREE WEEKS AGO, AS IT HAS BECOME FAULTY UNDER WARRANTY. FIRST OF ALL THEY STATED THEY HAD NOT RECEIVED IT, I PROVED WITH DOCUMENTS FROM ROYAL MAIL TRACKING IT HAD BEEN DELIVERED. WE NOW FIND OUT IT IS IS NOW IN THE CHEK REPUBLIC. I HAVE CONTACTED THEM SEVERAL TIMES, GETTING CUT OFF ETCERA. NO I AM SERIOUSLY THINKING WILL I EVER GET A REPLACEMENT. O, WILLNEVER BUY A WESTERN DIGITAL PRODUCT AGAIN. ICONTACTED ARGOS THE RETAILER, BUT ABSOLUTELY NOWHERE.

WD abandons their customers

I had backed up my MacBook Pro on a WD Passport Ultra. I now find out that the company no longer supports the product, and my saved files are gone. I cannot access what was saved, and I cannot use the drive at all.

Title: Repeated Western Digital Drive Failure - Poor Support and Data Risk!

I purchased a WD hard drive (Serial No: WXD2E3158C94), which failed within warranty. WD replaced it (Serial No: WX32D24EE9LL), but shockingly, the replacement also failed within a year, compromising my critical work data.

Despite repeated escalation, WD is refusing to provide proper support or data recovery, pushing me toward expensive third-party vendors — an option financially unviable for me.

As a loyal customer, I expected reliability and responsibility from WD, not repeated product failure and zero accountability. Highly disappointed.

If no positive resolution is offered immediately, I will be forced to escalate this through consumer forums and legal routes.

The driver didn't work

The driver didn't work, it makes a chirping sound when plugged in and none of my computers recognize the device. Customer service has been fairly responsive but not helpful on resolving this issue. The website to request a warranty replacement does not work, which is another concern for a company that deals in technology and data. Avoid WD.

WD externe Festplatte My Passport 2,5 Zoll 5TB USB3.0 gekauft am 05.05.2023 ist defekt. Sie meldet sich nach der Eingabe des Passwortes an, lässt sich aber nicht mehr mit CHCK Disk oder Acronis überprüfen und verschwindet aus dem Explorer als Laufwerk. So ist eine Datenrettung über Windows nicht mehr möglich. Wahnsinn...

Two WD 5tb (red color) drives failed

I had two 5tb (red color) drives fail, (which happens rarely) but then a second 5tb (red color) 1 failed March 2025, then 2 weeks later another failed, which had different files. Both drives were purchased recently. I tried several recovery methods with no luck. I want WD to replace these. Do they back their product?

Western Digital 3.5" Sata hard drive 1TB Fault.

I just want to ask anybody on here if they have experienced Western Digital 3.5" Sata Hard drives and what they think about them.
I have just had yet another one go faulty causing two days inconvenience trying to extract important files from it. This is the 5th one now in around 10years and it was hardly used. Can someone tell me te life span of these and do you have any recommendations of any alternative makes? Thanks in advance.

Avoid WD, untrustworthy and unreliable service

Avoid WD, totally disappointed using WD due to the poor customer care and unreliable service. They have offered a product (my cloud home) that was good for the first couple of years however, they have discontinued their cloud service after while and putting me (I know lot of people are in the same situation) in a situation to pay fortune to access you own date via the WD encrypted hard drive that is used in this product.

Due to the decision to no longer support WD Discovery software, WD My Cloud Home is no longer fit for purpose.

I have contacted WD Service Staff on a number of occassions with all providing the same response, no longer supported, you can access from local network but not true and you cannot access your data unless you go for data recovery that will make you to be in a position to accept and pay up to two thousand pound to have your date back.

Basically, WD are an untrustworthy provider.

So with that, I will not be using or recommending to use of any WD product.

So let me say I was very disappointed with your support.

While I realize my item was out of support, but if you can help a customer, you should. That being said, the very last CS person, while being the most obnoxious, probably did the best thing, by telling me that 'there's nothing they can do'. I mean the other 2, they kept churning me with different tasks, and I ended up spending over 4 hrs with your CS guys - which was a complete waste of time.

I think your team could've escalated it to a higher level support, where they can suggest things more helpful than - 'plug your unit to the power outlet', but I understand that trying to get real support from your Level 1 team, I might as well not have bothered.

Enjoy your day - you've definitely ruined mine.
