We’re thrilled to hear the Branch Manager provided excellent service and was nice and polite during your appointment. We pride ourselves on excellent customer service and we’re happy to hear the Branch Manager delivered despite the change in valuation that soured your customer service experience.

Bait and switch is an illegal and immoral business practice and does not occur at webuyanycar.com. We wouldn’t have a 5-star rating from hundreds of customers if that were the case. We always operate in a transparent environment. We take detailed notes, photos and videos of every vehicle we inspect and our Salt Lake City Area Manager investigated your appointment and has tried reaching out to you directly several times without success.

Reviewing the notes, I do see that when you requested an online valuation on 6/12/2024 you declined to enter any specific damage. Our online valuation tool generated a valuation for a vehicle in good condition. Unfortunately, during the physical inspection of your vehicle at our branch, we discovered the check engine light illuminated, a P0420 code which indicates a potential problem with the vehicle’s exhaust or fuel system, and the exterior of the vehicle had several large dents to the hood and side panels of the vehicle.

When we discovered this damage that we were previously unaware of, we entered it into our pricing system which negatively impacted the vehicle’s valuation. We’re not in the business of trying to shake the loose change out of our customers’ pockets and have a central pricing team we encourage our Branch Managers to contact if necessary. We’ll always try to do what we can and match a competitive offer when possible.

We do business by appointment and keep a record of every appraisal we provide for our customers. I checked our records and was unable to find a customer matching your name so I have reached out to you, via Trustpilot, to get some more information.

JD Power and KBB do not buy cars. They will not cut you a check for any valuation you may see online. They make money selling leads to dealers who pay for your contact information. Those dealers have no obligation to pay you that price and are usually more interested in selling you a car with a high profit margin, than matching a number from a site you saw online that they purchased your contact information from.

If you do want to price check us against a comparable source, we do recommend checking the KBB Instant Cash Offer which we usually beat. This shows you how much you can get in a straight cash sale. Prices that are higher than the KBB Instant Cash price are often dependent on you trading in, in which case the dealer is making on the margin, finance, and other products they sell when you buy a newer car.
