I’m a subcontractor and used Wexley & Associates to submit my tax return, where I was due a £1,800 refund. After submission, HMRC unexpectedly sent me a letter saying I owed £10,000, which was a huge shock.

Wexley & Associates immediately disputed this with HMRC and investigated the issue. They discovered the problem was actually caused by my contractor submitting incorrect information. Once this was corrected, HMRC removed the £10,000 liability, reinstated my £1,800 refund, and apologised.

I was stressing because I had backlog with paperwork and deadlines approaching. I got fined in the past for missed deadlines for submissions so was dreding the same thing.
