WORK MARKET sucks
I am IT Pro with 40 yrs in the field.
In 2024 0ver $1000 of unpaid tickets through Work Market. This platform is concentrated on getting paid by the vendors not a technician. They will not protect technician interest in any way and ignore payment issues. They also hiding certain informations from the Tech when the discrepancy arrise.
Certainly do not recommend it.
They just deleted my one account…
They just deleted my account without reason and notice! When I tried to log in, got notification that my account "is terminated due to US economic and trade sanctions", even I'm living in Finland and account is Finnish. After that I called them and they say that account is not possible to renew, I should create new one. They just deleted it without any notification, few years old one, verified account, with vary passed tests and agreements. Now all connections have been gotten throught years with companies are lost, and I can not receive payments! Situation is terrible and such irresponsible from their side
Platform shows jobs available with dates in the past. I also have issues viewing work orders, a messages comes up as " unable to update"es
This has gone too far…
I completed the second part of a multi week project. I got paid for the 1st part but WorkMarket hung me out to dry once the company (one of the largest clients they cover) arbitrarily decided not to pay me the remaining $5200. Told me I could go to arbitration.
They will not help you if the company…
They will not help you if the company you worked with strings you out 60 days after the they dont care, im out 2600$
Never get paid for work completed.
Disastrous product
Disastrous product, full of bugs. I do not understand, how in 2022 such a product can exist. Simple freelancer sign-up process takes days because of a series of mysterious "unexpected errors" and bugs that the support agents themselves don't know about. Their support staff also takes long or otherwise doesn't follow instructions well. Once you do get into the system after manual assistance, changing your personal details will yet again trigger "internal server errors."
If paying freelancers, stay away from WorkMarket. Your time is better spent elsewhere than helping these morons debug their systems. I'm genuinely appalled at the sheer incompetency of this product.
Deceptive work order wages
I am thankful to be a part of a platform that allows people to connect with potential buyers to earn income. It has been freeing not being a part of it a traditional W2 work paradigm.
What I have noticed happening though is potential buyers looking for skilled workers at bargain-basement prices. This business practice is generally accepted in a free market enterprise, but is also the source of my contention. My gripe is how buyers attract potential workers with often confusing and misleading wages.
I've been afforded a few opportunities to speak with companies posting work on the platform, and have heard on more than one occasion the horror stories of some of the people they've contracted. This isn't surprising considering the way buyers bait a potential worker. Often times the wage will be presented as something like $165 (example). Sounds decent for a work order until you realize that the number represents a potential earning and not an actual earning. That $165 could be for up to 3 hours work. A dig deeper into the work order could unearth an "estimated" time for the job being less than what is being offered, say 1 hour. Now the advertised $165 went down to a likely $55!
It is upsetting to see how deceptive the pricing really is. What makes it even more upsetting is when you place a counteroffer looking for the advertised price and are not awarded the job. This is what has prompted me to draft this complaint.
The crux of my complaint is this: How is it okay to knowingly use deceptive pricing strategies? I have found that it pays better to accept jobs you are not qualified to do because they take longer to perform, which allows an opportunity to earn the amount advertised. If you happen to be adept at what you do, you make less because you don't require the entire time that has been allotted. Proof of this practice is evidenced by companies changing the work order's terms. I have applied for numerous jobs asking for the amount offered only to see the job details get changed. This means they couldn't find someone to perform the work for less than what was advertised.
It's unfortunate there is so much dishonesty out there. It's a shame a gentlemanly agreement to render work isn't enough or even honored anymore, but what is even more disheartening is this platform allowing these conditions to breed this kind of environment. Furthermore, it is sad for a business relationship to be predicated upon a foundation of lies and distrust.
In today's economic times, transparency should be the norm, not the exception.
Transferred payroll funds 8 days ago to…
Transferred payroll funds 8 days ago to the same bank account I have on file with them for ten years. Today i got a notice that my deposit failed and to try again. Delays are becoming more and more their new normal. I called and asked if they understood people depended on payroll and was hung up on. Scamsters.
WorkMarket not responding about long payment delays
WorkMarket not responding about long payment delays. I as well as others I know of have had their funds lost in limbo for 7 days now. 2 of these that I know of are over $3,000 each. Mine personally has been an ongoing position for almost 3 years with only one other glitch but it was fixed in 1 day. The buyer has approved the payment WorkMarket has some kind of glitch going on but will not even respond to the techs. The buyer has tried to contact them but they just gets generic responses stating that they are working on it. When the techs call they get a recording that states that no agents are available to call back later. or if some does answer they just tell you the developement team is working on it.
A COMPANY WHO SCAM THEIR CUSTOMER
I withdrew my money on 7th of October and due to some issue I was not able to receive it on my local bank account. I Tried to ask them for help and calling them many times, and they told me to wait 7 business days, 30 days and now more than 30 days I still haven't received the info on the whereabouts of my money. I also called other worst company HYPERWALLET who keep telling me to complain to workmarket despite I AM paying for the transfer fee and returned fee which cost me more than 20 dollars.
As for now I still havent received my money back while both of them play pretend to know nothing about it. I TRIED MY BEST TO CONTACT THE LOCAL BANK IN MY COUNTRY AND THEY WERE IN FACT HAS RETURNED MY MONEY ON 11TH OF OCTOBER. I WONDER WHY THOSE TWO SCAM COMPANIES DONT WANT TO RETURN MY MONEY UP UNTIL KNOW. THEIR REPLY IS ONLY WE HAVENT RECEIVED THE MONEY WE WILL UPDATE IF THERE IS ONE. PLEASE HELP ME HOW CAN I REPORT IT TO THE US POLICEM
WorkMarket support is Horrible
WorkMarket support is Horrible! Not only do they never have representatives available but they never want to spend time doing their job. The biggest concern is that WorkMarket allows companies to not pay you if they do not want to. I have been using the platform for less than a year and WorkMarket has allowed 3 companies to not pay me. All the times that this has happened it was due to the company either not having the proper equipment or materials onsite to complete the job or that they were asking me to do more work which was not on the work order but refused to raise the pay. One company said that they were out of money and couldn't afford to pay me. They told me this after the job was completed a month prior. I had MANY discussions with WorkMarket support but they refused to help and acted like they did not care. I know for a fact that they can suspend companies that rip off the technicians but they will not do that since the companies are how WorkMarket gets paid. So they absolutely do not care about the technicians. Horrible platform to use.
This has become nothing more than a…
This has become nothing more than a glorified PayPal platform - the only difference between the two is on WM one can post documents a contractor needs to perform work-related tasks on the buyer's behalf. That is, if you can find a living, breathing contractor - there are many, many deadweight contractor profiles on this platform, those who first signed up as far back as 2011 as available to hire but have never completed even 1 job through it and clutter searches for viable talent and those who when reached report they no longer use WM themselves. I hire a lot of contractors for repair and new installation projects throughout the U.S. and have repeatedly been forced to use other resources to complete jobs for our clients in a timely and professional manner as there is ZERO effort by WM to recruit talent - one would almost be better off trying to hire through Craigslist services section.
WorkMarket and HyperWallet's way of…
WorkMarket and HyperWallet's way of communicating with each other on a problem I know more than I have experienced made me spend around 70hours trying to fix a problem getting a verification. They pretended that they had never seen this problem before (also when the same problem happened multiple times) and kept sending me between the two companies for 50 hours, it took 50 hours of work before anyone decided to help me. I had already gotten paid for months before they decided they needed my information for a second time and all of this happened. I ended up leaving the project I was working on and I will ever work with anyone that uses their services as a way of payment in the future. I am sure some customers easily can access their money, but if there are any problems at any time, do not expect them to help you.
Worst innovation my company has ever…
Worst innovation my company has ever implemented. I work for Signify Health as an independent contractor and have done so since 2012. This year Signify Health started moving those of us who are contractors to Workmarket and off their internal payroll system. The Workmarket website is confusing and not user friendly. In order to get paid you need to use the site to populate a W-9 that is sent to the IRS for verification. If accepted it will let you obtain any funds authorized by the company who is your employer. If the information is rejected, it doesn’t tell you why. It refers you to 6 pages of instructions and a W9 form that you can practice filling out. Unfortunately the instructions pertain to the 2018 version of the form but their Website is programmed to generate the 2011 version of the form. The Tech/customer support people insist that the 2011 form must be filled out even though it’s obsolete. There is no provision on that form to be paid as a sole proprietor LLC. Support doesn’t acknowledge that it is a legitimate type of corporate entity. They insist that if “you” are paid as a business you have to have an EIN. They have disconnected me from chat, hung up on me when I attempt to explain that it’s their problem not mine, or “no one is available to take my call.” NOT responsive, not innovative and definitely not an improvement in terms of record keeping and rapid payment.
Worst Company ever
Worst Company ever, support is completely useless and they don't talk to each other, even when a ticket is escalated. They delay paying funds, their website is full of bugs and give you platitudes on their service...FU

I have been using this platform for 3+ years without issue. I do use others, and without naming them, WorkMarket outperforms the competitors in that the freelancer stands to make the most because fees are not generally the freelancer's responsibility. Yes, it does vary, but 98% of the fees are covered by the buyer.
The support staff offers assistance in most cases and although they tend to favor a buyer, they do try for an amicable and beneficial resolution towards the freelancer.

I got an email asking me to confirm my account. Since I never signed up with the company I clicked the link "If you believe you received this message in error, click not my account.". Then they send and email thanking me for confirming my account. Some scam.
Total Scam .
Total Scam .. Wont go into details.. but Im experience similar results that I seen come from a company they just acquired.
Not what i thought they where. Im sure they are others out there that must also have been scammed by Work Market
Easy way to work as a freelancer
I use Workmarket as a work logging / payment system (instead of a work sourcing platform) and find it very useful.
It's relatively straightforward to use, and payments - once approved - are paid into my PayPal account quite quickly (usually the same day).
Not many of my clients use Workmarket, but I would happily use it for all my jobs. The only thing that lets it down is the fact it only uses dollars. A pound (GBP) option would be handy. If there is already an option I can't find it!
