⚠️ CONSUMER WARNING
⚠️ CONSUMER WARNING: Do Not Pay Cash/Debit Deposits to This Company ⚠️I am writing this to warn other Ontario consumers to stay completely away from The A Team Appliance Repair.I paid them an $800.00 deposit via an Interac Debit card terminal. Just one hour later, before any technician was dispatched, any travel occurred, or any parts were ordered, I canceled the request and asked for my deposit back.Instead of returning my money, this company kept $478.22 of my deposit. They claimed they were entitled to keep this large sum for "labour and a 15% restocking fee" on parts and services that were never rendered. When I refused their partial refund, they cut off communication and tried to demand I go through private arbitration to get my money back.Because I paid via Interac Debit PIN entry, bank chargeback rules do not apply to this commercial dispute. This company is actively exploiting that loophole to lock down and withhold my unauthorized funds. This matter is currently a formal open investigation with the Ontario Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery (Consumer Protection Ontario). If you need appliance repairs in the area, do not give this company a single dollar upfront. Learn from my mistake and find a reputable, transparent business instead.
SCAMMERS !!!! The A team appliance repair!!!
I would like to complaint against a company called The A Team Appliance Repair regarding what I believe was unfair, misleading, and intimidating business conduct during a service visit to my home.
Last week, my washing machine stopped working. I first contacted another repair company, and their technician diagnosed the issue as a faulty main control board. I was told the replacement part would cost approximately $350, but it was out of stock and would take 4–6 weeks to arrive.
Because I needed my washer repaired sooner, I contacted The A Team Appliance Repair and booked an appointment for the following day. When I called, I was informed there would be an $80 diagnostic fee and that they usually repair appliances the same day.
When the technician arrived, he briefly pushed some buttons on the washer but did not perform any meaningful inspection or repair. During the visit, he spent a long time outside on a phone call and later returned and continued randomly pressing buttons on the control panel. I explained that another company had already identified the issue as the main board. He then agreed and stated that the washer needed a new main board.
However, unlike the first company, he quoted me approximately $1,040 for the repair, claiming the part alone would cost about $720 plus $320 for labor. I told him that for that amount of money, I would rather purchase a new washing machine. He became very pushy and insisted I had to pay $320 immediately for labor charges, even though no repair work had been completed and no parts were installed.
I questioned why I should pay such a large amount when nothing had been fixed and very little diagnostic work had been done. He stated that according to company policy, bringing tools into my home counted as labor work, despite the fact that he never actually used the tools or repaired anything.
I explained that I did not want to pay and that I needed to discuss the situation with my husband. I was alone at home at the time and felt intimidated by the technician’s aggressive and pressuring behavior. He insisted that I pay immediately and pressured me to use my debit card. When I said I only had a credit card available, he refused it and pointed out that I had a debit card. I felt uncomfortable, pressured, and afraid, and eventually paid the $320 simply to end the interaction.
I believe this company acted in an unfair and deceptive manner. I was charged an excessive labor fee for no actual repair service, and I felt intimidated into making a payment I did not agree with.
I am requesting that this complaint be investigated and that the company refund the $320 charge. I also hope this complaint helps protect other consumers from experiencing similar treatment.
This company is a scam
This company is a scam. The did not fix it. No refund. I wish I seen the reviews before I got scammed.
Seems like the Company is good at Scamming
Seems like the Company is good at scamming money from customers. I made a service call and was told $80 for the call which seems a normal price to pay but instead when the tech arrived he wanted $275 just for investigating the issue. As far as I am concerned the $80 was just for the tech to visit my house. These guys are a joke and should be closed for business. The tech even called for the part which he never bothered to tell us but we insisted and the shocking price was $370. I would like to advise people to watch out for businesses like this one and please don’t make a mistake like I did.
Avoid at all costs will get scammed 100%
Contacted this company due to my dryer stopping after a few minutes into the cycle. They said it would be 80 to diagnose the issue. They said the machine just needed to be serviced which costed $327.70 upon completing the task they said that the issue is a bearing which would cost an additional $413. I told them I wasn't interested and they started trying to push for me to do the extra task and said that I should not use the dryer at all. At that point I sensed they were just pushing for extra money and told them I wasnt interested and they left. The dryer didn't work the same day and I contacted a different company they inspected it and said the dryer was fine and the issue was the dryer vent need to be cleaned which fixed the problem. This company was trying to scam for more then $700 over a fix that cost me $160. Avoid them at all costs. I believe its no coincidence that this company does not have a Google business page as it is trying to hide its reviews from anyone that doesnt do in depth research.
This business is a mastermind scam…
This business is a mastermind scam artist. No stars. We called them for a stove repair, agreeing to the $80 diagnostic charge. When the technician arrived, we inquired on pricing for the labor/part. He was literally in my aging parents home for less than 5 minutes, started what he called labor, before we even consented to work or the part price (we were still waiting to hear from his leads on the price). As I continued to inquire on the part price - he then quoted $600 for the repair (when i could replace 10 year stove at Costco for $1,000), we obviously declined the work and agreed to pay the $80 as discussed. He says we consented to some labor he did (less than 5 minutes, not a people person, super unfriendly and uncooperative) and lands us with a $300 bill for "labor" only. Excuse me, what labor of a part that was not on site, of a job we never consented to, while we were still waiting for a quote on the price - this company is scamming people and you should beware of them. Unethical would be an understatement, I can't believe companies and the people representing them actually exist. When i called them to discuss this, to my amazement, they hung up on me and didn't answer the next call from the same number. I had to call them from another cell phone number to discuss the issue, they didn't like hearing the truth and hung up on me again. They never returned the calls. BEWARE PLS - This is your gentle warning not to engage with them.
I’d give no stars if I could

This is a scam company! Never pay cash or etransfer. My date of experience is not accurate but was a couple years ago.
World's best scammers
World's best scammers, they should be put in jail. Hope government take action. Take cash accept no credit card and charge HST and no HST number on the invoice I am sure they are not reporting revenues and HST to CRA.
Lack of transparency and dishonest
When I booked the visit, I was informed of an $80 service call fee, which I agreed to.
However, once the technician arrived, I was told there was an additional $320 charge required to troubleshoot and identify the issue. This fee was not disclosed during the booking call. Had I been informed upfront, I would have been able to make an informed decision before committing to the appointment.
The technician also identified that the required part would cost $856.
My concern is specifically about the lack of transparency regarding the $320 diagnostic fee. This is material information that should have been communicated before the technician arrived, not after
Theft
wow... they're good. looks like their entire MO is scamming people under the guise of appliance repair.
In my HASTE I called these guys - didn't do my due diligence. Reading some of the other comments, I'm glad it only cost me $300.
DO NOT call these guys. They use all of our money to pay top SEO to be at the top of google searches. They've manipulated their online google reviews.
Theives
FRAUD!
FRAUD!! BEWARE.
My appliance wasn’t working they quoted me $4000.00 for the part. The part actually cost $352.00 as we got it fix elsewhere.
They took $3000.00 from me and didn’t give it back. They only take etransfer and debit cuz they were getting to many claims from credit cards.
They won’t give you the part information because they don’t want you to do your own research.
Pass this on DO NOT GO HERE AND BE A VICTIM OF THIS CRIME.

It took them 3 months to repair my fridgidaire microwave for it to last 6 weeks for before breaking again. There warranty is a lousy 30 days. There communication was horrible. I was constantly call them for updates.
They are bunch of scammers they just…
They are bunch of scammers they just mention about $80 visit and then without even trying to figure out the problem talks about servicing and labour charges. They were suppose to check and suggest a fix not tell us about service charges without even knowing what's wrong with the appliance.
Scammer came to repair Samsung fridge…
Scammer came to repair Samsung fridge spent a hour looking into the problem and charged $450 for parts and $450 for labour pretended to fix the issue and left a box of microwave parts in a box. Won’t issue refund. Don’t let these people in your house.
NEVER USE A TEAM APPLIANCE REPAIR in Ontario
Did diagnostic. Said we needed rotational kit $700. Dryer not fixed.
Came back. Said we needed rotational kit new drum. Not on original diagnostic paperwork.
Horrible customer service people.
We would never have agreed to repairs of $1400+. Could have bought new dryer for less than that.
They ripped us off. Two Seniors. Will file with Consumer Protection and report senior abuse.
Do not use this company. They are corrupt scam artists.

Like everyone else here
Like everyone else here, I was scammed by these uncouth people. Abel came to my home, and then Ash when Abel could not remove a microwave oven. After paying their fees, they wanted $1,295 to fix a 16 year old washing machine and $500 o fix a 16 year old microwave. Needless to say, I did not go along. And I truly doubt their diagnostics for either because I now know they are scammers through and through. STAY AWAY. Do not call 866-840-9010.
Warning!! Stay Away from these Scammers!!!
An Appliance Repair Team technician came by within hours after I put in a washing machine service request online. The agreement was that the technician would provide a quote for fixing the machine. If I did not pursue with the quoted fix, I would have to pay $80 visit fee.
The technician's first response after staring at the machine for a few seconds was, "you're better off buying a new one." I asked him what the issue was with the machine. He said that would require him to run a diagnosis and would cost me about $300 (never heard before). He continued, "after the diagnosis, a repair may cost you anywhere between $400 to $800. Even after that, there is no guarantee that the issue would be fixed."
I didn't agree to (and wasn't confident) to spend over $300 on his diagnosis just to get a quote and spend another $400-$800 on a repair that wasn't guaranteed to fix the issue. So, the guy did not provide a quote but insisted that I pay the visit fee. Argument ensued between the two of us on the matter (I insisted "no quote, no visit fee". He insisted "no diagnosis, no quote"). My conclusion was that they were there just for the visit fee.
fast forward a year later, I had forgotten the matter until I received a letter from a collections agency recently for that visit fee. I reached out to their customer support and described what had happened. No, they won't listen. They just proved to me that they are truly the monster SCAMMERS!!
