Do not borrow from Ascend loan. This company charges over 100$ in interest. Their not good.

Predatory lending. Avant school doesn't even put you in a better position. You go back to freelancing and your loan skyrockets after graduation. The school doesn't care because they've been paid by the bank (Ascent Funding), so their hands are washed. In contrast to another school and field I attended a while back, they had job boards and got me into better positions. Hard times make your interest rates higher. You can show proof that you don't make what you did before school, and you will still get screwed and not able to afford payments and livelihood. They will just raise the payment and interest and not work out anything feasible. Avoid at all costs.

(sallie mae, AES, Earnest) when it comes to deciding upon rates (fixed vs. variable), term of loan, payment options. The process feels very restrictive and you do not get your questions answered. Dealing with your bank loan specialist is better snd you walk away feeling good.
