Solid facilities, needs a clean.
The facilities at Gosforth suit me well. I do have some concerns over the cleanliness of the pool and the sauna area though.
The bottom of the pool looks terrible as does around sides and the mould build up at the sauna door is pretty poor. A thorough clean would eradicate that. No excuses.
Also, if you're taking bookings for sauna at 4pm then at least switch it on in good time. It's a constant bone of contention with folk using it around this time that it is stone cold more often than not.

Getting started made quick and easy
Joining online was a very simple process. I chose a Seniors package and it was easy to upload my “proof of Age” document (which was also verified very quickly). I booked a 30 minute induction using the App and the instructor was really helpful in showing me around the building and the various equipment.

The pool was too cold and the mixed changing area is unsuitable, especially for children and women. My child has also been put in the incorrect class.

We regret to hear that the pool temperature was too cold for you to enjoy your swimming lesson at the Gosforth Leisure Centre. It was my first swimming lesson as a senior adult. My swimming instructor James was very patient and understood my fear of water.
He worked with me to help me overcome my fears and did not rush me or become impatient.

Gosforth Better Health.
Nice staff and reasonably good facilities for a really reasonable price. One criticism is that some of the gym equipment is looking very tired and a bit shabby. Which apparently is getting refreshed, hopefully very soon. My other gripe is the showers, the better term for them would be a brief tepid drip. Which isn't ideal when you need a good shower before going to work. And there's only 1 in a cubicle where you can have a proper wash.

Appalling cleanliness…
Was coming here for 2 months but couldn’t cope with the cleanliness any longer. The woman’s changing rooms are shockingly dirty. Some days they would absolutely reek of fish others like stinking sewers. (This is due to old stagnant water never being cleaned on the floor) The day I dropped my towel on the floor and picked it up and it literally STUNK of rotten sewers/eggs was the last straw and I have not returned. The showers have never been changed since I was a kid and I’m 39. Very dirty and full of limescale. Dirty marks all over the cubicles. In all honesty I do NOT think the changing rooms get cleaned. Probably a bin empty and that’s it. This is an honest review which I’m sorry I have to give but I think big changes need to be made. Pool is ok but does get crowded as it is lane only swimming and sometimes I had 6 people to a lane.
