The shower water is boiling hot. It destroys scalp and facial skin barriers. After multiple requests no changes have been made.

I have escalated this issue to the Centre manager previously so I am deeply saddened to hear that this has not yet been resolved. The people are very helpful
The people that are in the entrance are very friendly and very helpful I wasn’t sure if I should go ahead with the membership the guy at reception assisted me and answered all my questions without any problem

Absolute nightmare of a place - avoid!
Absolute nightmare of a place! The staff here are the most incompetent and hostile imaginable. Since Better took over this so called leisure centre has reached abysmal depths. Their booking system does not work. Reception staff are rude and dismissive and their is wrong information on the app and website leading to wasted journeys. Avoid this place. No wonder membership has dropped significantly since Better took over.

Attendance system needs improvement
The registration and booking experience is good,however attendance marking system is not satisfactory. I scanned the card at reception but attendance was not marked on 8th August. Eager, my attendance was not recorded for 4th August.

High price for low quality
The gym isnt well equipped and the price is just too high for the low standard services

Really appreciate Jordan
Really appreciate Jordan, which helped me alot in resolving my payment issue.
I called three time before that and git very disappointed- but really depends who yoh speak to.
Jordan is so professional, respectful and passionate that he tried his best to resolve my issue and I am really thankful for that.

Not safe for children in pool
Not safe for children in pool
Adults not properly dressed in swimming outfit now swim with children having their swimming lessons. Better only care about money not the safety of our children. When it was active newham adults were not allowed to swim at the same time with children's swim lesson
Not safe again, anything can happen to out children
Parents are not allowed to go into changing rooms when kids are 8 years and over which is ok but they can let the adults swim with children

Thank you for your review.
We are disappointed to hear that you are unhappy with the programming at Newham.
Safeguarding is paramount for our customers and staff and it is not unsafe to have adults and children swimming at the same time.
If a customer is inappropriately dressed they will be asked to change or leave.
All of our centres are fully staffed and if children are in a lesson they will have a minimum of one teacher per class there to ensure their safety as well as lifeguards and other staff.

Better's customer service team provide…
Better's customer service team provide excellent service. Bearing in mind they have only taken over from Active-Newham at the beginning of this month (April). The two staffs that I have had the opportunity to get in contact with were great. During the registration for my son's membership, Rachael was on the phone with me for over 30 minutes taking me through the registration and the best membership option to considered. Again recently, Jason brought to my attention about duplication on my son's membership account which he was able to explained and resolved. The staff are always happy to help and make the customer happy with the service they received.

Disappointed customer…
I transfered my membership to Better on 02/04/24 which took me over an hour to do so. I had been a gym user under the previous management company and I had had no problems with the gym and studio use. The first full day if attending at Newham Leisure Centre I trued to use an emply and quiet studio to carryout my own yoga routine. I was told to leave the empty studio because, "Studios are for classes,only," I find the Better staff to be of a very low standard and very unhelpful. They surly and not at all professional in their attitude and appearance.

Changes to peak hours since Better acquired the Newham partnership mean I’m now paying £12 more per month for the same facilities.
Lockers at Newham leisure centre should be changed to a refundable coin system, it would encourage people to use them and stop people leaving bags/coats around the gym floor. Non refundable 20p lockers are an inconvenience.

I am very sorry to hear that you are paying a higher fee for your membership than you were previously paying. However, if you previously held an Off Peak membership and have since requested to upgrade your membership to have access at Peak hours the membership fee would increase as well as your access level.
In regards to the lockers, I will pass on your feedback to the attention of the centre manager. This is not something we would be able to change immediately, but it is something we can consider for the future.

I would like to write a review with regards the staff at Meehan leisure centre and how polite helpful and calm they was on my reception
Priscilla was my main helper and what a polite young woman she was willing to above and beyond her limits to make feel comfortable (I have severe anxiety) she really made me feel welcome as did everyone but I felt the need to write this because of Priscilla well done to her outlook and capacity to help new people
Also well done new ham for you insights in employing a great team

The prices are outrageous and expensive
The prices are outrageous compared to the leisure centre managed by active newham, Badminton prices are completely unjust and unacceptable, used to have free off-peak access which comes as standard with the membership but have to pay extra 12pounds every time you play.
