Great location, fabulous accusation, great houseboat experience. My friend and i have visited Amsterdam many times, we usually stay in a hotel but the houseboat has been a much improved experience.

We spent four wonderful days on Gijs' houseboat. Everything was very modern. There was even enough coffee with milk and a few drinks. We didn't need the bikes, but they were there. The interior is very modern and stylish. The boat is bright. Oh yes, and it doesn't wobble. :) There are two supermarkets close to streetcar line 7 and there is also a bakery and a café. If you walk a little further, you'll find a great Syrian and an Indonesian restaurant. Or you can cycle there. We would love to come back.

My family and I rented a house boat to stay in Amsterdam during spring break 23-25 March. The Boat we rented had no heat and the temperatures were in the low 40's inside the boat. I spoke with the owner and he said he would have the heat turned on. He did not turn on the heat, so we slept miserably for two nights fully clothed. We left the house boat after our two night stay. When I contacted BookaHouseboat to lodge a complaint and ask for a refund they said I needed to contact them before 25 March to prevent payment to the owner. They added that because they had paid the owner there was nothing they could do. Instead of seriously addressing our grievance they used sarcasm in their response. Here is the response I received "Ahoy Jeffrey,

This was after I informed them I had no other recourse than to leave a bad review. I guess they feel like business is so good they do not have to worry about upset customers. I think this a bad position and would be warry of trusting this company. These boats in Amsterdam are old, getting in and out of them is not easy and if they are not holding the owners to any kind of standard, it will only be a matter of time before someone is hurt or injured.

Wir haben ein paar Tage in Amsterdam auf einem Hausboot verbracht. Im Vorfeld hatte ich mehrere Vermieter von BookaHouseboat angeschrieben. Von allen habe ich sehr schnell eine Antwort bekommen. Als wir uns für ein Objekt entschieden haben, war die weitere Kommunikation und die Zahlungsmodalitäten ohne Probleme. In Amsterdam haben wir dann wundervolle Tage auf dem Hausboot verbracht und die Vermieterin, die mit auf dem Hausboot wohnte, war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit.

Really enjoyed our stay on this houseboat. We wanted to be a bit outside the city, and this experience was incredible. The host was very helpful and flexible with checking in later. One day, we rented bikes from Bike Rental Zaanstad and toured the windmills at Zaans Schans! We also took the rowboat out for a paddle at sunset, really lovely and serene. The houseboat has everything you could need, is very spacious and comfortable.

Used them to book a houseboat in Amsterdam. Really great communication as payments were due and as the holiday approached. It was comforting to know the boat owner didn’t get paid in advance so we were sure there’d be no last minute cancellation. Reassured us enough to use this company. Would recommend.
