I grew up watching Walter Cronkite on cbs. It was a family gathering in front of the old black and white tv. Now days the news is just garbage and it's not really news. Im so sick of them dominating with all this basketball crap. There are sports channels for a reason. They interrupt prime time for the stupidest crap. No wonder their ratings have dropped so bad, eventually maybe they will just disappear. I used to watch cbs mornings but even that is getting boring. They really do suck.

Yet again taking off high rating loved programs for a sporting event. If its so popular put it on later after scheduled shows. No wonder viewers lose interest, waiting a fortnight (this time) for one new episode..Pathethic.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has walked away from negotiations to appear on CBS News Sunday Morning, according to a Vanity Fair newsletter, after a pointed social media post from CBS editor-in-chief Bari Weiss became what sources are calling the "nail in the coffin."

Mamdani's team had been in discussions about a potential appearance on Robert Costa's program, but concerns about Weiss's editorial direction were already simmering. Those concerns boiled over after Weiss reposted a clip of Iranian dissident journalist Masih Alinejad on February 28th, in which Alinejad mocked Mamdani's opposition to U.S. military action against Iran and sarcastically suggested he was "welcome to come to one of my safe houses." Weiss amplified the clip with a fire emoji.

Two sources with knowledge of the situation, including a former CBS producer, told Vanity Fair's Aidan McLaughlin that the post effectively ended any remaining goodwill between Mamdani's team and the network. "Bari and her people have a clear axe to grind for him," the former producer said, adding that the broader problem extends well beyond the mayor: "It's really hard now to get people to come on CBS."

The fallout comes amid a widening exodus at the network. CBS News correspondent Scott MacFarlane announced his departure this week, citing disillusionment and describing himself as "appalled" by the direction of the outlet under Weiss. Last month, 60 Minutes correspondent Anderson Cooper and CBS Evening News producer Alicia Hastey both left as well. Hastey was particularly candid on her way out, writing that stories at the network were being evaluated not purely on journalistic merit but on whether they aligned with what she described as a "shifting set of ideological expectations" that leadership calls "heterodox" journalism.

The departures and now the Mamdani episode paint a troubling picture of a once-trusted news institution increasingly seen as hostile territory for voices that don't align with its new editorial posture.

I can understand his wife maybe wanting to emphasize forgiveness to the perpetrators but for you to claim the teacher knew of the prank and was "excited" about it is absurd. I moved from Texas to Pennsylvania this past year. I am home most of the time and had been looking for some new stuff to watch on TV. I had been watching Pluto for free and there are a ton of CBS programs to view. I was tired of commercials so I purchased Paramount. Now I can watch shows with no commercials. But I have found great shows that are new to me and a couple I really love. Ghosts is top of the list. Its something different on the ghost scene. I love these characters and the show reminds me of when I was younger and watched CBS much more. I have forgotten FOX. I am going CBS and am loving it.

This has got to be the most racist news broadcast I've ever seen I just recently moved maybe 6 months ago and I've got country cable and the only thing I can get is the CBS News so and I'm probably one of the least prejudice people in the world but is there not white people Caucasians that can tell the news....

Vandaag heb ik contact opgenomen met het Centraal Bureau voor de Statistiek omdat er gisteravond een vrouw aan de deur stond die zei dat ze “van het CBS” was.

Ze vroeg naar mijn huisgenoot, alleen de manier waarop dit gebeurde, voelde zó vaag en onprofessioneel dat ik er oprecht van schrok. Mevrouw stelde zichzelf niet voor, noemde geen naam, legitimeerde zichzelf niet en geen specifiek onderzoek en gaf geen duidelijke uitleg. Op mijn vraag wie zij was, antwoordde zij slechts: “Van het CBS, ik heb een aantal vragen.”

Omdat er geen duidelijke aankondiging bekend was, dacht ik serieus dat het om een scam of social engineering ging. Dat gevoel werd versterkt door het feit dat zij aangaf “later terug te komen als mijn huisgenoot er wel was.”

Na telefonisch contact met het CBS bleek dat er inderdaad brieven waren verstuurd (twee in november en één in december). Deze heb ik waarschijnlijk onbedoeld als reclamepost beschouwd en daarom gemist. Dat neem ik uiteraard mee.

Maar:
De manier waarop een medewerker zich aan de deur presenteert is cruciaal voor vertrouwen. In deze tijd van oplichting en nep-instanties mag je verwachten dat een officiële organisatie zich duidelijk, professioneel en volledig identificeert bij een huisbezoek.

Deze ervaring zorgde voor onnodige onrust en wantrouwen, terwijl dat eenvoudig voorkomen had kunnen worden met een correcte introductie en transparante communicatie.

Een organisatie als het CBS zou zich bewust moeten worden van de huidige maatschappelijke context waarin mensen extra alert zijn op fraude.

Hopelijk wordt hier intern aandacht aan besteed.

How can they even hold their heads up after such a childish misdirection ?

What even happened to impartial reporting where they would simply report both sides of the story instead of making it an editorial piece?
